Firefly - Love it!

I love Firefly unconditionally, but I'm not really sure there should have been more. I mean, sure, there logically should have, but what would it have become? Joss Whedon has a bad habit of realizing that nobody has died in a while and then murdering characters at random. It ended before it could be bad. Buffy and Dollhouse both had REALLY strong starts and then sort of degenerated into convoluted plots with cardboard characters. I never watched Angel so I can't speak to it, but if Firefly had continued, maybe we'd be making jokes about how there was only really one season, since the others were bad.

Tell me, what is it that appeals to you about the special hell?

AFAIK, we don't have a thread for Con Man, so I'll put this here.

Any other backers here at the $25 level (or higher)?

Spoiler:

They've released 10 episodes so far: 1-4 a few weeks ago, 5-7 about a week ago, and 8-10 just now. Holy sh*t, this series is hilarious. I just watched Voiced Over (ep. 8) and was laughing so hard that it hurt.

All the Firefly cameos are great, and there are plenty of cameos from other people as well. I'm enjoying this so much! Best $25 I've spent in a long time.

I backed the series as well. Can't remember how much. I am looking forward to watch the next 3 episodes.

I backed it, but haven't sat down to watch any of it :/

I'm waiting for a blu-ray to buy my own self.

Gavin "Miracle of Sound" Dunne has released a song devoted to Serenity (the ship, not the film).

Also available on his Bandcamp page.

In other news, the final three episodes (11-13) of Con Man season 1 were released last week. So good!

Damnit, I'll be in my bunk.

So I'd been on the lookout for a place to buy Season 1 of Con Man. Didn't want to sign up for Vimeo since I already have enough logins and passwords out there I can't remember. I'd been checking Amazon, waiting for a DVD set to come out.

Today I discovered it's available free on Amazon streaming. Don't know if it's because I have Prime, but figured others would like to know.

Only the first two of thirteen are free.

You're correct. My bad. Don't mind paying. I'm just glad it's available outside of Vimeo.

That was cool! Brought back some sad feelings, but nicely done nonetheless.

Yes, that was my favorite of the free comic book day comics. Very touching!

I like his mustache.

For those interested in seeing Fillion and Staite share the screen again, check out Season 8, Episode 20 (5/20/16) of Castle.

I meant to mention that, Wiz. Sadly, no meta Firefly refs that I caught.

Nope, they left 'em all out.

Wow that was great!

Guess it's hard to casually work "Captain Tightpants" into a Castle episode.

Alan Tudyk will portray K-2S0 (a droid) in Rogue One! (source)

Referred to as K-2, this droid is described by director Gareth Edwards as “Chewbacca’s personality in a droid’s body. He doesn’t give a sh*t about what you think.”

It's Alan Tudyk in a Disney film so that droid will turn out to be the villain. Uh, spoilers?

In thinking about, the actors from Firefly have mostly done pretty well, so even as heartbreaking as the early cancellation was, it seems to have been a strong net positive for their careers.

I'd rather have seen that happen PLUS have more Firefly, of course, but at least some real good seems to have come out of it.

Poor Kalee (Jewel Staite) hasn't done much. I am surprised at that.
And Sean Maher didn't really do much after either.

edit: because I can type...

Haley? You mean Jewel Staite (Kaylee)?

[edit]

Can you? You changed "Haley", but still misspelled Kaylee.

Jewel went on to star in Stargate: Atlantis and has done guest star roles on various shows. Recently she appeared in Castle and Legends of Tomorrow. But she might be taking a break since she had a child at the end of last year.
