GWJFL3: SuperBowl

Pretty cool. I know I would enjoy watching the game play out.

How can she be hating the football?!?

Man, I just printed out the 2005 schedule that came out yesterday and am excited about some of this fall''s matchups.

Edit:

You mean like this? (Note the posted date. No news since then but perhaps at E3...)

We need someone to go to one of the competitors'' houses, use their computer and Skype or TS, and do the play-by-play.

Who lives close.

If we play it might be later about 10 central.

Maybe I can ask her to post on GWJ as me when there''s a score

Eh. Just log into XBoxLive and follow along in your friends list.

Punk.

Grumpy X-Boxes at his PC monitor. He could give us Play by play over Teamspeak.

He just doesn''t WANT to.

After Grump scores, he should type up a long post while I play offense.

I would be willing to put my TeamSpeak mic in front of my PC speakers, though.

I should''ve just run and run and run like I usually do. I don''t know WTF got in my brain and pulled me away from that, but it cost me. I''m gonna make a Post-It that says ""run 40 times a game, stupid"" and stick it on my TV for the rest of the GWJ 2005 season.

Yep Legion he seems to have some kind of mind control powers somehow he got me off my running game as well. Damn mind controlling bastard! At least I can be happy knowing I lost to a team that went to the championship.

I read the ""run 40 times a game"" and had a horrid flashback to a game I never want to remmember.

Hey Grump, you wanna play tonight? Like nowish?

Nope, sorry.

Highlander, I added all of your IM information in addition to the XFire info I already had. Tonight is no good but how about tomorrow night or perhaps a little MNF?

Damnit I wanna watch this game. Someone should at least record it. I''m not even mad about losing that $20 I had on Swampy going to the big game. Thanks a lot, Swamps!

Sunday night will probably be better for me. ABout 9:30 central?

yessir

Great game, Highlander. That rain made sure that the big play was the way to score.

You asked for it so I did it. Now I need a way to get a 3GB file out to you guys... and I don''t have the tools (software + hardware) to edit it down.

All I know is that he will face bloody, bloody retribution in the ""real"" league (that''s right, I said it, ""real"" league, bad sportsmanship abounds, HAHAHA!)

For anyone wondering, Grumpy won the game. Way to go Grumps!

I guess it''s time to dust this off (for a week or two anyway).

Congrats, Grumpy! As soon as you get the movie file hosted (and possibily convert it to xvid or something so it''s not ungodly huge =) I''ll sit down with some Doritos and alcohol and watch the Superbowl that matters. There''s no halftime show, right? =)

Congrats, Grumpy! That''s some beautiful hardware you have there! Either of you up for a brief game recap?

''Grats, Grumpy. ''Grats for getting there, Highlander.

Maybe just email out the highlights of the game, Grumps?

If I had the tools to edit it down to the highlights, I could at least recompress it to something more efficient.

Quotes from the locker room:

Joey Porter: ""God just didn''t like us tonight. He was a Jets fan. I never would have thought he was a Jets fan. That how you wanna play, God? Wait til I see you somwhere.""

Rothlisberger: ""I get hurt and Maddox comes in and does what? Throws a damn pick. What an asshole. Suck it up Old man. Your time is over. Go back to the XFL.""

Bettis: ""Third and one and what does dumbass coach do? Tries a quick pass. Just give me the damn ball. Me ''n Staley had 100 yards combined on the ground. He didn''t think we could get one yard. I''m done with the Steelers.""

It was a good fun game. If the curtain had not collapsed and gave up the TD just before half, it might have been a little closer.

Jets Still Puzzle? I''ll leave it to whomever has been gracing the league front page with their prose to (hopefully) post a final update there.

Very briefly, while held scoreless on the ground, Curtis Martin averaged 6 yards per carry on 12 attempts (for a total of 72 yards) and had an additional 31 yards and a TD through the air. Chad Pennington captured MVP honors with his best scoring outing of the year (4 TDs) while going 11 of 17 to 6 different receivers for 247 yards. As has been the case all year, the defense was a key part of the game plan forcing 3 interceptions (2 by linebackers and 1 from the strong safety) and an unrecovered fumble.

I''m trying to see if I can get some video highlights put together for y''all but it''s going to be a couple days at least before that''s done. Sorry.

Edit: Staley averaged 5.6 YPC on 14 attempts and Bettis had 24 yards on 4 carries (6 YPC) and yet the Steelers decided not to run the ball on 3rd and inches with 5:30 left in the game. Instead, with Big Ben having been hurt on the preceding 2nd down play, Tommy Maddox came in for his only play of the game and threw the ball right to Sam Cowart. (Roethlisberger was back on the next series after NYJ turned the pick into 3 points to go up 31-17 with 4:36 left in the game.) Steeler fans would say that was the play the let the wind out of their sails.

You were expecting the run. It was suppose to be a surprise.

And it was I guess. It was an interception. Surprise!

You''re right; I was expecting the run. I was also expecting to not be able to stop it... which is why I had my linebackers in zone to try to make sure it didn''t turn into another 49 yard scamper like in the 3rd quarter. Imagine my surprise...

Thanks again for a great game. You are a scholar and a gentleman.

Highlander, you''re not a real man unless you pass on 4th and inches in the 4th quarter when you hold the lead. Sissy
