Black Desert

Propagandalf sorry if you came back and the mumble was down he had to restart the server when he got back from dinner.

We had a very productive first day. Made it to 27 while having a node chain from the northern shore all the way down to Glish/Gilsh. So should make for some successful afk fishing runs. Have a full set of Agerian armor for my Wizard (changed my mind about starting with Tamer at the last moment) and have gathered 3 armor stones and 1 weapon stone. Tamed 2 T2 female horses so breeding is in the future. Will definitely be looking at some of the guild advertisements in chat next couple days.

Np, I ended up avoiding wife aggro by watching the Oscars with her

I only made it to level 12 yesterday, but did a lot of the crafting/gathering/producing quests. I think I'm ready to buy a house and hire workers, etc. I need to do some research.

The lack of inventory is really frustrating. I finally discovered that you can store some items in a bank (warehouse) at the fishing village. I guess things will improve once you buy a house and your own warehouse. I know there are quests to open up inventory slots, as well.

Did anyone get there pre-order items? Judging from all the complaining on chat, I guess a lot of people haven't received them yet.

Warehouses are unique across each city but you can (for a small fee) have items from one warehouse transported to another.

Here's a link that has all the inventory quests in the game. Only way to increase the size without the cash shop.

Nope didnt get my items yet.

I was under the impression that the bonuses will be parceled out when the cash shop opens at launch.

Quick question about the friends list:

Does a player have to be online (or maybe even close to you) for you to send a friend request? I tried sending requests to all the names in the thread so far yesterday afternoon, but got "character not found" every time.

So does the wizard/witch start to feel a bit more, well, active as you level up? In the beta I played up to about 10 or so, but it felt sort of clunky and out of place compared to all the other classes I tried that felt right at home with the action style controls (particularly using a controller). I'm curious if I should give one a bit more time now that it actually counts, though, seeing as the feel of every class changes significantly even just a bit past level 10.

Of course, it's not like I really need to have another character I'm heavily interested in. Even after putzing around on the Russian version and in CBT2 I still couldn't decide which class I wanted to focus on, so I ran a Tamer, Ranger, and Sorceress through Western Camp (like, level 10 or 11 each) -- and, I'm still not sure which I prefer, because they're all quite different and a ton of fun in their own ways.

Wasn't there a similar list somewhere of quests that award full skill points? I swear there was, but google isn't turning up anything for me right now.

If you go to your account on the main website, there should be a list of "coupons" to turn in, which should then result in you receiving the items in question in the mail.

Some people received them right away, but many others are still waiting (I think the official word is that it could take up to 24 hours from submitting the form).

Looks they're having problems with the pre-order items. I got a delivery failure email this morning that said to go back into my Accounts page and resubmit all your coupons. I did, and indeed they were all reset and I had to resubmit them.

For friends to be added you do need to be close.

I also found I got the error if we were grouped while adding a friend.

you have to be in the same zone to add a friend. Which is funny because you can be on either side of that line, but looking at each other and it wont work.

There's a built in system that will send friend requests with anyone you group with. Dont have to add them the normal way when in a group.

So my last minute change of mind about the tamer involved realizing that even before we get the Ninja in the game we're going to get the Blader. By the time it got here it kinda didnt matter if i had the weapon leveled up or not. Leveling up armor would be a better use of time, and leveling one item instead of 4 (not counting jewelry) would be more efficient. Then my next choice was between Ranger and Wizard because while the Zerker is fun his clearing ability pales against those two. I chose the Wizard because by level 17 he's an absolute beast for AoE. I giggle when able to aggro a whole field or area and watch them melt away with a couple spells. I probably will regret the idea when it comes to PvP, but i know i'm already swapping toons anyway and figured why not make leveling easier.

There was but i cant find it either. BDOfoundry has redone their site and it may have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Yeah, nuts.

I think I'm really going to have to level each of them up to 20 or so before I decide. Looking through the skill trees it's becoming clear that even though you get a decent taste around 10, you don't really start to see the fuller shape of the class until 20 or so (the Tamer, for example, doesn't even get her beast until 20).

Any of you guys have some early impressions on this? My friend is giving me a trial code to play with him this weekend (though I imagine servers will be in bad shape).

This sounds like a pretty systemic mmo rather then something like wow, I'm personally hoping it's more like ultima online back at its launch. Also is there a server gwj is mostly playing on so he can join that server and have the option of playing with folks.

Ranalin, can we maybe get an OP update?
Server seems to be Orwen Calpheon 1

I guess technically my name is "ZeroKFE" because it required a capital for the first letter.

Add me to the list. My family name is:
Wyser

I have a Wizard and a Tamer going right now

I won't be in until tomorrow as I went with the cheap option, but my family name is:

Badferret

Which, I'm not crazy about since they put that front and center, but there ya go.

Been fishing and selling them at the Trader (not the marketplace). Seems like good money, but I wonder if I should be keeping them, or selling them in some other way. Can't really keep them, because I don't have any space... man inventory/warehouse/storage space is really challenging!

Question about workers. I purchased a worker and set him to working a node, and then bought a residence. I can't buy another worker, because it says a another worker needs lodging. I need to buy another house, even though I have one residence? The first house is for me, and anything after is for worker? *confused*

If i understand it right, you need to buy a certsin type of house especial for workers.

From what I have seen in videos when you buy a house you have to designate it as worker housing in the menu. Someone who has actually played at this point might better be able to tell you how to do that.

Also for fishing if you notice they depreciate value over time. It's a slow timer, but longer you wait the less they sale for. And yes you have to have houses for your workers. Depending on how many you have the more houses you need for them.

Another reminder about fishing. The farther you go to sale them the more you make. I had a good catch today and ended up with 200k+ from fishing.

VIdeo on houses. Explains it a 100x better than i can.

Not sure I agree with the tamers main thing being locked until 20, leveling rate doesn't seem too terrible but I'd rather get a feel for how the pet works sooner.

Im going to give it another go but im really not feeling this game. Its feels more like clumsy work than fun so far. I wonder if i put my account up the the trade thread someone who might enjoy it more than me would want to trade a game or something for the 100dollar preorder goodies.

Who knows though, something may click. I have yet to find an mmo that i didnt like at least for a little while.

cobble, what classes have you tried and what level have you taken them too?

All classes get their 1st black spirit skill at 17. That's a huge boost in power. With the tamer you do get more out of it with your pet, but it's not a weak spell at all.

My biggest issue with the tamer was resource management. I couldn't figure how to keep up high dps without going through all my mana or stamina in short order.

Badferret wrote:

I have tried Giant, Ranger and Tamer. all to 9 or 10. Thats around I start to get frustrated trying to do combos. The Ranger seemed the easiest of the three but not all that fun. I especially hate things like hold s and e to do perform a move. It seems like such a mess.

You can rebind the keys to whatever is easier. Granted you have to translate them when looking at the UI because it only shows the default key binds.

For what it's worth, I felt the same way at around the same level and tried mapping those keys to my mmo mouse and tried a controller to no avail. For me at least, sticking with it and the original keys, especially with the giant and the Valkyrie started to to feel more natural around lol 15 or so. leveling is very quick, so I would suggest sticking with it a few more levels and try to master just one or two aoe combos as opposed to trying to learn a bunch all at once.

Edit: I should clarify that I was able to remap the keys as ran said, but was constantly confused since I had to do the translation thing. I went back to the defaults and things started to click. The game throws so much at you so fast, it can certainly be a little overwhelming.

They're handing out the armor and pets now!
