Black Desert

I hate how that New MMO Smell is so tempting to me even though I know that I bounce off of them more often than not.

This makes me giggle.

I'll try and read up on what the configurations mean.

From what I can see on reddit/other forums, those distinctions are purely a player created construct, and in no way supported or enforced by anything in the game. Folks from those two distinct communities have just agreed among themselves that that's where they would play.

Pretty sure I'll be much happier with the crunchy RP hippies than the hardcore PvP folks, myself.

That's what i'm expecting... i just dont want to deal with some of the ArcheAge guilds that are going to Edan.

What are the names of some of these guilds?

Interested to know as well if you don't mind sharing.

I may be the odd man out on what I like and don't but I enjoyed ArchAge other than the hacks and I had to spend most my limited play time playing farmville and pack deliveryman to stay competitive.

The best fun I had was working with Pirate guilds and well being a pirate type.

I am trying to read up some on servers.

Edan looks to be the most popular in general which should mean higher population which in general is a good thing.

I am not sold on Edan or Orwen but my past experience make me lean toward Edan.

Guilds (Baka and Laughing Coffin)

My logic for Orwen is that if the more notorious are going to Edan and that the majority of folks along with them that means less likely of queues and issues on Orwen. We're still going to have to deal with our share of assholes and high volume at launch why not reduce the amount?

Plus dont get me wrong. Most of you know i'm not afraid of some pvp. Maybe it's my age getting to me, but I just would like a higher chance of finding like minded folks than dealing with some of the flash in the pants guilds out there.

Newb question. During the beta there were subsets under the two servers, I believe the one I tried was Calephon(sp?) under Orwen. Does that second subset matter or is that like the temporary instance you are on and can easily move between them?

Wife upgraded to the Conqueror edition so she'll be on first thing Sunday.

Those are like different instances of the same server, and can be swapped between while in game.

Laughing Coffin

Original!

A fan made trailer to get you hyped for the release...

nice!

FYI I'll be starting on Orwen/Calpheon tonight (unless i crash and dont wake up).

Family Name: Atyr

Conquerors access starts at midnight pacific, correct? I'll probably be on Orwen tonight as well, at least long enough to create a character and kill some weasels. Family name Aesterly.

No idea when I will get to play Sunday but guessing it is later in the evening.

My 14 year old daughter is having a sleepover at our house with 6 of her friends and denying me use of my basement.

I know I've had the purchase page up all day!

Last minute server changes.

They added a new server and split up the instances.

I'm still going to start on Orwen, but the instance will be Calpheon a1.

Looking at more screenshots how is armor done? Does armor have stats or just cosmetic? If I play a class that is female only, I'd like my character to wear pants at least. :/

I think the only female class that wears pants is the Sorc.

Non costume armor just modifies the base look of your existing outfit. Armor pieces stay with you as you level them up, and get more robust looking as you do so.

I'm on Orwen/Calpheon a1. My family name is Propagandalf.

I read tip that it's good to use all your character slots to get alts up to level 4, first thing; so they can start generating energy, which is shared across all your characters. So I guess that will be my first goal.

I know you are all excited to rush for 50, but unless you just MUST race to be the very first 50 (and how would you know?) then make alts as soon as you start playing.

I plan to make my alts and take them to the point where you see the skill trainer in Olvia, yes, all six, and then start my main.

Alts earn energy while you aren't logged into them. So long as they are level 4 you can even swap to them without logging out.

Alts share the energy max cap of your main, but each has their own energy pool, but they share everything else, since they are all in your family. This means you can use their energy for node investment, worker purchase, whatever, because almost everything is shared between characters in the same family.

Do yourself a service and make alts, you can leave them in Olvia till you decide where they are needed to be parked, but make them and let them start collecting energy. Then every so often swap to them and use the energy for node investment if nothing else so it doesn't sit capped.

About Alts -

Offline energy regeneration is 1 per 30 minutes.
Online energy regeneration is 1 per 3 minutes, unless you lay in a bed in a residence while online, in which case it is 1 per minute.

A character has to be level 4 to use the quick character switch interface to avoid logging-out/logging-in.

The alts can be different classes or the same class

All characters in one account share the same max cap for energy and Contribution points.

All characters share the same current and max values for contribution points. If your main is 5/50, then all of your alts will also be 5/50.

Each character has its own independent current energy value, and share the same max cap. So you could have your main with 4/60, and alts with 0/60, 60/60, and any other value of x/60. But all would share a max cap of 60.

There is a quick switch interface that allows you to switch from one character to an alt, bypassing the logout/login sequence, but it only works with characters level 4 or higher.

All characters on the account share the same knowledge, map and quest history, other than the tutorial quest, which is individual to each character.

All characters on the same account share mounts, pets, vehicles, nodes, houses, and all warehouses.

I'm also on Orwen/Calpheon a1. My family name is FuryHeart (I suck at names)

bah despite family names the character name still has to be unique

also does horoscope actually do anything?

Horoscope

During the character creation process you will select a Horoscope sign. Your Horoscope effects NPC interactions, and rate of amity gain.

There is some speculation as to whether or not your zodiac sign also affects hidden attributes such as luck or enchanting.

I dunno, a few hours with this game and my feeling of impulse buyers remorse continues. It controls so horribly. I just can't wrap my head around it. Probably some of the worst voice work I have ever heard as well. I will stick with it to try to get my moneys worth but my opinion is not very favorable at the moment.

Wish they would let you delete guys without such a long wait.

I always have issues making a character at first that I like and then when I want to make adjustments early on I have to wait till the next day for a delete to happen.

Orwen/Calpheon a1 as well. Family names is DINGLES

If you want to min/max the horoscope. The only known use for it is to pick the black dragon. That's beneficial to the NPC you have to chat up when getting your Yuria weapon around 45+

On Orwen now myself. My name, shockingly, is zeroKFE.
