Warframe

My MK-1 starter weapons are also leveling at a glacial pace now. Part of me wants to ditch the Mk-1 Braton at least for the regular version but the sicko in me wants to hit weapon level 30 first.

That isn't the sicko in you Maclintok, that is exactly what you want to do! The reason for this is Master Rank. Every single time you level a weapon, frame, anything up to 30 for the first time only, it increases your master rank. There are some higher level weapons that you are unable to purchase blueprints for to build/acquire until you have your master rank at a certain level.

Now, the wonderful thing about Warframe is, you do NOT have to use your weapon to rank the weapon up to 30. The way you do this is to be in a full group and stay near everyone in the group. For every kill anyone other than you get, is split between your Warframe and all the weapons you have. So for example, if you have a Warframe, with a primary, secondary, and melee weapon equipped, for any kill that you are near that a team mate gets, your warframe will get 25% of the xp, and each of your weapons would get 25% of the xp of the kill.

The way I level up weapons I do not want/care to use, I have them equipped and never use them and do some high level missions, or do a 20 round T2-4/ODD Defense, and only use the weapons I want to use, and never using the weapon I don't want to use. The weapon will usually go up 10-15 levels easily. Top off the xp to 30 with some high level missions and/or alerts and you can safely file the weapon away forever, or sell it away knowing you got all the Master Rank you could get from it.

Thanks Cat! Yeah I found out about weapons being mastery fodder. Last night I was lucky enough to group up for a couple of those Defend the Extractor missions. I mostly used the Skana (still a bad weapon but more fun than MK-1) to cut my way through the insane mobs. Leveling was faster!

Will the credits value be higher on a Rank 30 weapon when selling?

I do not believe so, but i'm not the best person to ask.... I don't sell my weapons back, I hoard everything, just like my steam collection.

You may be right but the important thing is to get that affinity.

Man those extractor and survival missions are crucial for levelling weapons and farming mods. Endless mobs. Such a grind tho, these starter guns have long worn out their welcome!

And don't forget to go through the Second Dream quest line as soon as you can so that you can start accumulating Focus points as well.

Holy moly, how many inventory slots do you have? I have 60-70 and I'm constantly dumping weapons.

Ok I need to watch some YouTube about Focus. I just hit mastery rank 3, maxed out the Skana and MK1 Braton and bought the Braton. Also started levelling Silva and Aegis.

I have yet to construct my Archwing. When do I unlock Second Dream content?

Hah oops noticed I have second dream quest unlocked just before signing off for the night.

I'm really enjoying this. I'm generally finding enough randoms to play with and most of people I've met cooperate well despite not doing voice chat

Ah yes apparently I can join a Syndicate now that I'm a Gold Initiate. Errm, yes I recognize these as analogues to Destiny's war factions there's just double the number of groups here and I haven't a clue who to join or why I should.

The similarities between Warframe and Destiny are uncanny. Before this derails horribly I'll just leave my in-depth comparisons there.

Me again! Is there something else I can do with a Frame or any other piece of gear once it hits Level 30? Can I ascend or evolve it in any way?

You can always apply a forma to it, which will reset the level to zero, but gain you a polarity slot. One of my strongest weapons (tonkor) has had this done to it three or four times.
In addition, while not actually improving the weapon/frame, completing the mission Second Dream offers an additional option to apply a bonus to that weapon/frame. My Frost Prime sees a great deal more play because of it. (Note: This customisation may or may not contribute to mastery rank. I haven't checked on that yet.)

Nice! Prestiging weapons and frames! So if I Forma my frame will I get to keep the "potato"?

Yes, same with weapons.

Woo, cool that's good to know.

I'm impressed with this potato system. I recently bought the Volt frame because it was so cheap, relatively speaking and I needed more grist for mastery leveling. All this time I thought I'd need to buy another Orokin Reactor but the one I owned was shared immediately with the new frame.

They could have easily charged a potato for each new frame but they chose to simplify things for the player. I like.

Not quite, if you purchase a new frame (with real money) the catalyst(?)/"potato" comes pre-installed on the frame. However, if you build a new frame, you need to manually install one to double the mod capacity.
Same goes for weapons and probably archwings, though I've never purchased any of the latter to know for certain.

If you still haven't found a guild, you are welcome to join mine. It was originally founded for friend exclusivity, but hardly any of them play these days. We have all of the labs and a lot of the research completed.

I am going to play this game a bit more again starting this weekend.
Feel free to invite me into your games

Oh that makes more sense. I was thinking, gosh, they are missing out on a golden opportunity to monetize. That is a nice little bonus to throw in. Most of the new frames are quite expensive and the older ones are no slouches either.

Thanks for the offer! I recently switched to a clan I found on Reddit. I have yet to really play with let alone talk to anyone from the group. So I'll give it another week to see if I gel with the peeps there. All I'm looking for are new-ish players to quest with and maybe slighter more experienced guys to run some of those Void missions. And I have Trinity's blueprint and need to unlock Phobos I think, to start farming those frame components.

Yes! I'm playing every single day now. I am trying to ride the daily login streak all the way to the end plus the game has reeled me in Destiny-style. I think we're PSN friends already?

PS4 Player
I am getting back into Warframe after a 2 year absence. Still learning new stuff and relearning old. I am a bit lost on what I really want/need to be doing at the moment. Concentrating on forma/rebuilding Rhino Prime and Amprex. Also, soloing my way through Second Dream (Ciphers!!). Does Second Dream get hard? Will I need to bring more people in to a certain part?

Riverside445 on PSN if anyone wants to team up. High five!

It's doable solo, but the bits on

Spoiler:

the moon

can be tough.

What are the raids like in this game? It seems there is matchmaking in this game for everything top to bottom. So are the raids less elaborate and puzzle oriented than the ones you'd find in Destiny?

I didn't find any other Warframe threads in the first 10 pages, so instead of making a new one, I'll just post here.I'm looking for some people to play with (and talk with).
A friend and I play together but he's not as into it as I am and play maybe twice a week while I play every spare moment (don't judge me :p) I would prefer not being carried, the fun part for me is the struggle.

Evilseed and I have been playing quite a bit the last couple weeks, and we just started a clan a few days ago. Feel free to friend me up. Laarrs on both steam and in game.

Feel free to add me as well. Living and working in Europe. Might help time wise

OK I'll do that! Thank you both!

Sorry evilseed couldn't find you on ps4!

I did slow down a bunch thanks to rekindled interest in Diablo and wanting to play new games. Feel kind of aimless as I'm stuck on a major quest

A major quest in Warframe or Diablo?
Somehow I can never seem to catch you online, if you are stuck in a non-archwing Warframe quest, I'd be glad to assist.

The new warframe Nehza has been a joy to play with since the newest patch dropped (on ps4 yesterday), an excellent support class that maintains a high enough ability dps at the cost of being kinda squishy. Note: Zigzagging away from of a hoard of infested pursuers while igniting the ground with your shoes is an excellent defensive tactic . I am curious how fast a Nehza can run with the combination of all the sprint speed mods at max rank, his using his first ability [Firewalker] at max rank, and the burst of speed ability (no idea what it is called) that Volt can provide... Guess it's not a crossplay game. i thought it was.

Nope, not crossplay. Would be nice if they could make that happen.... for now, nopes.
There are also different streams by the developer. Worth watching, as they give platinum away
and there is eye candy as well

Bought Ivara with plat last night, bringing my Frame stock up to:

  • Ivara
  • Limbo
  • Mesa
  • Nyx
  • Excalibur

Now to actually work on them and start moving through the game. I'm working on maxing out the starting weapons (Mk-1 Branton, Lato, Skana) just so I can sell them.

I don't spend platinum on frames. They are fairly easy to come by Just some grinding and luck.
But you do have some good and fun frames right there.
