SWTOR: Catch-All

Modifiable armor ? You should have got some from the Gree if you did the Black Bisector arc on Coruscant, if I remember correctly.

Other than that, you can usually pick some pieces up from vendors on the Fleet, or a piece on each planet. I'm not sure how it works for FTP players with regard to the crystal things that replaced commendations, but I know my trooper is swimming in them - each mod thingy costs 2 crystals now.

Oh yeah, the Gree chain. Forgot that.

On another note, Jesus general chat in this game is a dumpster fire.

There's general chat?

It's a free game so most of the general chat is little kids. Little vile kids who need a good punch in the mouth.

Went from 50 to 65 with my Agent and just got the Revan and Fallen empire content to do with him. Also took a bounty hunter to 37. Going to get back to him after I finish up the stuff with my agent.

Just finished the main Hutt content. Revan on deck!

When do you start getting modifiable armour? I started out with all the pilot suits so that's keeping me going, but I'd like to get something more thematically suitable.

It's pretty sad, but I think I was up around 60 before I finally just went the GSN and sought out a set of customizable armor I liked. (It took me awhile before I sort of understood how to properly take advantage of customizable stuff.) By that point I had saved up over a million credits and spent a ridiculous amount on some Paragon-themed set, which lasted just long enough to see the level 65 Outlander sets at the general crystal vendor. Not exactly money well spent, but I looked good!

You can buy sets using your cartel coins. Couple 1000 coins can get you a nice outfit. Plus if you get the entire outfit you can add it to your collection and make it available for all your alts. You can also make a lot of credits by buying outfits with coins and then selling them on the GSN.

They practically throw the tokens to buy mods at you now which makes it easy to stay current (honestly not really an issue till mid to late 50s) so no reason to not look as cool as you want.

You can always cosmetically wear gear that you like while using modded gear for the stats. My trooper is currently rocking a decidedly non-standard duster coat and stetson.

Before I stopped playing I had a bad arse set of Mandalorian Hunter gear!

Yeah, I did use that cosmetic thing on an outfit for awhile. For now, I rather like the cut on the Outlander Duelist set (customized with black-to-blue dye), so I'm sticking with that for the moment. I've got something like 1500 Cartel coins saved up at this point from my subscription, and may poke around the sets there for something when I'm inevitably ready for another change.

Finished the Sith Warrior story last night (third down, along with SI and JC) - now I'm in a dilemma - should I go forward with the expansions, or move on and keep finishing stories until I hit Legendary player? I think I'm going to go with the expansions, since this may be my favorite character of the three so far. That said, I really do want to finish the other class stories now that they're the work of a week or so, instead of months.

If you did all three chapters for a character in a week or two, you're a better player than I. Took me about two months to do one.

I know the Hutt and Revan expansions have been put down a lot, but I actually rather liked the Hutt expansion. It wasn't, to me, any worse than most of the main story Jedi Knight content. (Which is to say, it was good enough for me to enjoy playing.) Revan I've only done the prelude on and, while it's clunky, there's a story thread in it that I'm totally into following. Again, good enough for me.

What does it take to become a Legendary player? Benefits?

Basically you get a shiny outline on your character if you beat all 8 character stories

Also, it took me about two months to do Sith Inquisitor at launch, when I was playing obsessively - it's a hell of a lot easier with the XP and companion boosts now

I can imagine! I assume you just do the purple story/class quests only? I got sucked into doing most of the yellow optional quest missions (except the Weekly Heroic stuff). That probably added a bunch of hours onto my time to complete. Next time I tackle a class I'll skip them.

Yeah - I'd already done most of the planetary/side quests back in the day, so I didn't feel compelled to replay them. I did get a couple of nice XP bumps from doing heroics (note - every heroic comes with a teleporter that takes you to the front of the quest area - at least if you're a subscriber) and from doing the initial dungeon and PvP quests on the fleet.

I would say do the Expansion content with at least one character before moving on to the rest.

What server(s) are people playing on? My wife and I just jumped back in to check out the Revan and Fallen Empire expansions. We're having fun running around together, but I kinda miss having an active guild chat. Who knows, we might even be down for some end-game stuff given how long it'll be before WoW gets new raid content.

I'm on the very low population Prophecy of the Five. Wish I could port all my people elsewhere.

Jedi Covenant is where most folks landed after all the server merges.

I think most of the GWJ folks are on Jedi Covenant. (AnimeJ beat me to it.)

As for guilds, a few pages back someone tried to explain that whole setup (sorry, I'm too lazy to look up who). Seemed that GWJ and another site had a joint guild (operated by the other site). I took a quick look, but never took the time to try and join it since it seemed to be mostly dominated by people from the other site.

I'm on Red Eclipse, but then I'm GMT timezone.

Hey, that's where most of my characters are, including the one pictured to the left. Back when the game launched my old guild voted to go PvP server... before we realized the zones weren't built for world PvP at all.

If I reroll on another server will I still get to make a cyborg Jedi, or will I have to jump through the old Legacy hoops to unlock it?

I am on Harbinger. Both sides, though my highest level is 51. Love the story. Looking forward to Hutt Cartel.

My biggest issue is I want to be all the characters, my inner Star Wars nerd is messing with my leveling speed.

I think Human and Cyborg are unlocked for most classes - I could be wrong, though. I used my subscriber coins to unlock Togrutans for my Sith Warrior.

If it requires an unlock, I think those are all linked to a legacy, so thus server specific.

I logged into a random server and it let me make a Cyborg Jedi. So they're either a general thing now, or the unlock does work across servers. That means my Sith Warrior's daughter can run off to join the Jedis even if she has to run to another server...

More stuff for the expansion.

@ Tanglebones - I got burned out trying to level 3 characters at once. I would maybe start a low level alt but do the expansions with your main so you have a nice change of pace. Another problem is the stories are very uneven. In hindsight the trooper story felt a little too much like watered down Mass Effect. The inquisitor story was alright but I felt the warrior story gave you more options to act like a villain. The inquisitor story has you reacting to enemies rather than actively plotting and backstabbing rivals which is weird.

That's the path I'm going right now. I'm in the second or third area of Makeb with my Sith Warrior. I'll finish up the expansions, and then move on to my 4th character - probably a smuggler or trooper, since I never got very far in either of their stories. Possibly a Jedi Knight, since the gameplay will already be comfortable

From what I hear Knight is one of the better repub stories. Smuggler is a little predictable but funny as hell - make sure to pick the sarcastic dialogue choices. I went the Han Solo loveable rogue route but according to some of my buddies you can easily become a dark side crime lord.
