GWJ's Favorite Games from 2011-2014

Yeah, I have no prediction. I wouldn't be surprised to see Fallout 4 get the top step, but it doesn't feel like a shoo-in for Bethesda this year either.

If I was going by "volume of screenshots posted by my Steam friends", it would be a run-off between Fallout 4 and Elite: Dangerous.

Seems like you can predict the GOTY easily enough: what came out from Valve, Bioware, and Bethesda?

Indeed. Except the one year I had a Bethesda game as my GOTY (Skyrim) it failed the GWJ test.

You already did!

Here are your past years' winners:

2006: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks)
2007: Portal (Valve Corporation)
2008: Fallout 3 (Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks)
2009: Dragon Age: Origins (BioWare/EA)
2010: Mass Effect 2 (BioWare/EA)
2011: Portal 2 (Valve Corporation)
2012: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)
2013: BioShock Infinite (Irrational Games/2K Games)

The title has yet to be awarded to a game from outside North America. Could this be the year? Did BioWare release a game? Oh, they did? Sorry, Mario. Well, that's democracy for you.

Other than Bioshock Infinite, GWJ picks some worthy winners!

I'm still betting on Witcher 3, as I said in an IRC cabal conversation on the subject

I'd say Witcher 3 is probably more likely than Bloodborne to break the North American monopoly, although I do just look at see that Fallout 4 as two seperate threads on this forum which both have thousands of posts =|

I think the top 4 will definitely feature (I haven't chose 5 because I'm really unsure what else will make it in.)

Fallout 4
Witcher 3
Bloodborne
Rocket League

A good console exclusive seeing some love would be cool. Bloodborne may have a chance with the PS4 as its platform. On the flip side we have Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Nintendo exclusives just don't reach enough people.

You know after this year we could rank our top ten community meta-GOTY.

I don't think any of them made Rocket League.

+1

I'm not sure I have played a single new game from 2015 except Rocket League. Most of the rest of my gaming time has gone into Elite Dangerous, which I started playing in December 2014.
