*does a little dance*

I expect Clocky is delaying the vote so more of us can play Xenoblade Chronicles X and skew the voting

Argh no, XCX is for next year's top ten, not this year's!

She's not posted it yet because she is playing Fallout 4 still, since it's GotY.

(Just kidding, that's Metal Gear Solid V.)

I haven't posted it yet because if I post it at the start of December, fewer people participate.

Also, I've got to rig this spreadsheet so that Splatoon wins. That part is a little time-consuming.

Yes.

Yes.

I'm ok with this.

You misspelled The Witcher 3.

My wife and I will contribute two #1 spots for Splatoon. Shadow Complex is pleasantly landing in my top 10 right now, thanks to the free PC port.

Am I right in thinking that there hasn't been a non-American winner of the GWJ game of the year award? I remember something about that in last year's thread. This could be the year!

Dragon Age: Inquisition was the GWJGOTY last year, and it's Canadian. I think it's that a Japanese game has never been the community GOTY. Well, now I'm going to have go back and look...

Edit: OMG why are the 2006 winners just Photobucket images that are no longer available

You're pribably thinking Japanese games although that depends on how well Dark Souls and MGS did in the past. I don't think we have enough activity in the JRPG or Nintendo threads to stack the vote like that.

You already did!

Here are your past years' winners:

2006: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks)
2007: Portal (Valve Corporation)
2008: Fallout 3 (Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks)
2009: Dragon Age: Origins (BioWare/EA)
2010: Mass Effect 2 (BioWare/EA)
2011: Portal 2 (Valve Corporation)
2012: The Walking Dead (Telltale Games)
2013: BioShock Infinite (Irrational Games/2K Games)

The title has yet to be awarded to a game from outside North America. Could this be the year? Did BioWare release a game? Oh, they did? Sorry, Mario. Well, that's democracy for you.

Well, I'm pretty sure that my #1 game won't be the GWJGOTY, because my #1 vote has never wound up being the same as the community's #1 choice.

Considering my likely #1 pick only has a 2 page thread I don't think it's going to win either...

Same. I don't see that changing anytime soon. GWJ has poor collective taste

Actually, I might have to eat my words a little bit there. I probably would have agreed with Portal in '07, or maybe I would have chosen Mario Galaxy... Damnit, I'm not supposed to stress out about game rankings for another few weeks!

I'm so smart! Alright, here's the updated list:

2006: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (USA, Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks)
2007: Portal (USA, Valve Corporation)
2008: Fallout 3 (USA, Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda Softworks)
2009: Dragon Age: Origins (CAN, BioWare/EA)
2010: Mass Effect 2 (CAN, BioWare/EA)
2011: Portal 2 (USA, Valve Corporation)
2012: The Walking Dead (USA, Telltale Games)
2013: BioShock Infinite (USA, Irrational Games/2K Games)
2014: Dragon Age: Inquisition (CAN, BioWare/EA)

Could The Witcher 3 or Metal Gear Solid V finally break the North American lock on the top spot? Or Dirt Rally? Dirt Rally is pretty good you guys.

Seems like you can predict the GOTY easily enough: what came out from Valve, Bioware, and Bethesda?

It's gonna be Fallout 4, I'm calling it. I haven't played it, and have no interest in it, but our track record shows that Bethesda games rank highly here (and with good reason - has TES6 been announced yet?)

Nothing, Nothing, Fallout 4.

Edit: Tales from the Borderlands as this year's "dark horse" candidate?

I don't think any of them made Rocket League.

+1

It can be our first multiplayer winner.

So many good games this year. Will be interesting.

My prediction is Witcher 3 will get community vote, but I feel like this year might be one of the most diverse in the community in a long time.
