NCAA Basketball 2015-16 Catch-All

I've got tickets to go watch SDSU beat Utah on Monday the 16th with my wife. Utah is looking pretty solid, and SDSU has a bunch on unknowns( heres hoping that Sheppard finally shows up, and that Malik Pope plays to his potential, should make for a good game either way.

If you watch on ESPN2 look for the lone SDSU supporters in a sea of red.

Several power conference teams didn't show up ready to play on opening day. All of those are home games that are supposed to be early season tune-ups. Makes you appreciate teams that take care of business.

Yeah, I was wondering about that last night. Kansas won their 43rd straight home opener, which, of course, was over Northern Colorado. I have no idea how that ranks, since Kansas isn't the only one to start off with a sacrificial lamb. They won 109-72.

And now Georgetown lost to Radford, 82-80 in double OT.

So on Thanksgiving Day, the Ags are in a tournament playing against the Longhorns. Should be a great game! We have what ought to be our best team in years. This is, I believe, Shaka Smart's first year in Austin.

Tip off marathon starting in 30 minutes. All-night basketball, woohoo!

So Ga Tech beats Tenn and GW beats Virginia. If I had to pick an ACC win/loss tonight, definitely would have been flipped.

1st top 10 team down. College basketball!

Utah-SDSU was a good game.

Oregon seems to be in control of Baylor, but it's still been a fun game to watch. Oregon seems to want to push the pace, so I'm enjoying it.

Think that's it for me tonight. The first year they did this I watched every damn game, with a couple of short naps in some first halves. But I can't make it this year. Hopefully will be able to peek in on games throughout the day.

Cyclones had an easy win after opening the season on the road against a decent Colorado team.

Another good win for Cal. I will say, I'm sort of waiting for Jaylen Brown to assert himself. He can score no doubt, but he doesn't seem to take control like a 5-star player should. Again early on he lost a dribble and when he grabs contested boards he sometimes loses the handle. Rabb seems to have a much better presence on the court.

Could be that we just don't need him to go crazy, but once conference play starts I want to see him take some command of the game. He does have a great supporting cast around him so maybe he doesn't have to. But as someone who watched Jason Kidd play ball in that same arena, even when he wasn't scoring, you knew he wanted the ball during crunch time. Haven't seen that yet from Brown, but it is only 3 games in.

He did have a steal and a ridiculous left handed dunk that brought the arena to its feet. Can't wait for more of that!

Wow, triple double by Valentine and Mich St wins. That was a good game.

Also Maryland-G'town with a good finish tonight.

Duke didn't look ready for Kentucky, that game was pretty boring.

Tough loss for Kansas. They lead pretty much the whole way, extending their lead to 13 twice, but MSU came up big late and made their shots. Kansas had opportunities late and failed to convert.

But it was a fantastic game and Valentine was sensational.

That was a good game and we are going to have a blast come confrence time. My only issue was with Dicky V. It drove me nuts how he was anointing Kansas as the NCAA and Big XII champs while they were extending the lead in the second half.

When is Ellis going to graduate? It feels like he's been there 7 years. I'm sure you can say the same for Niang.

I always feel bad for opposing fans when Vitale calls Kansas games. He was the same when Roy Williams was the coach. It's like having a home team commentator.

I kind of like his schtick, but he's easy to get sick of.

And yes, conference play will be incredible again this year. I love Big 12 basketball!

Vitale is the worst, period.

They should keep him in studio or something. His enthusiasm for the game is great, and I appreciate that. But when he's supposed to be calling a game, he spends an inordinate amount of time talking about anything and everything except the game in front of him. It's infuriating.

More power teams dropping today/tonight.

Wisconsin, Florida St, Ohio St, Penn St, #24 Michigan, and #16 Utah got whooped by 24 by Miami tonight.

#3 Maryland was down at half to Rider.
#17 Vandy was down late last night to Stony Brook and had to win in OT

Lots of power conference teams dropping early this year. Utah the only one on that list losing to another power team. Yay parity.

So that North Florida team, that beat Illinois by 12 on opening night, and was averaging 99 points per game in their 3-0 start...

Louisville 89, UNF 61

We led 43-41 at the half after a UNF 3 at the buzzer. Then just turned it on. An 11-0 run as part of a larger 28-6 stretch. UNF used their last timeout with 13 min left. Outrebounded them 53-22. Held them below their season 3 point %, and way below from 2.

Breakout game for freshman Ray Spalding, from Louisville, with 18 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.

New Louisville career high for Damion Lee of 24, as he went off during that stretch. I think 7 of the 11 were him.

Norther Iowa upsets UNC, 71-67. New #1 team next week.

Can't believe just not having Paige hurts them that much but apparently so.

I'll just leave this here...

Wow, nice win! UNC cant beat a team from the state of Iowa, going way back to the days of BJ Armstrong. Definitely not looking forward to Dec 19 now!

Big win for Wake Forest over Indiana in Maui. Still too early to tell if Indiana was really top 15, but Crean's hot seat just got warmer.

Also, Bill Walton is the worst. Was trending on twitter and everyone couldn't believe how bad he was.

Tonight, 6pm Central, live from The Bahamas, the Battle For Atlantis tournament features the Fightin' Texas Aggies vs the University of Texas Longhorns! It's televised on the obscure AXS channel which we miraculously get. 340 on DirecTV.

Beat The Hell Outta t.u.!

I thought Atlantis was on ESPN now? I definitely watched Gonzaga play this afternoon.

Should be a good weekend of hoops between that, Maui, and some other games.

Some games are on ESPN, some are on AXS.

Vandy-Kansas Maui final has been pretty entertaining through a half.

Congrats to Kansas last night.

Also a ton of games on today.

Battle 4 Atlantis, Advocare Invitational, NIT Tip-Off, Wooden Legacy, and Las Vegas Invitational. Ranked teams involved in all of them. ESPN/2 loaded with games from noon to midnight. Hell with the NFL, I'm watching basketball today.

Big win for A&M over Gonzaga. Grats, Fed.

So pumped! We beat the Longhorns pretty handily last night. The championship game is tomorrow at 2pm Central.

And a 20 point (77-57) win by Louisville over St Louis at neutral Barclay's Center. Feeling pretty good so far. Big test coming up Wed @ Mich St.

ESPN saying Marcus Paige will play for UNC Tues vs Maryland.
