Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade - Catch All

I always thought of it more as a wh40k planet side with pve.

Which would be awesome but not what it currently is turning out to be. It is trending more and more lobby shooter with a promise at some point to add more open world...

The initial buzz on this wasn't very positive, especially in the "Will they ever actualyl finish it" - Is there any indication they have money and skills to actually do so yet?

I watched some of the play sessions recently and they didnt look much farther along than what they showed a couple years ago.

Well, that certainly explains why they're opening the Alpha with an NDA.

Oh, the Creative Director just quit.

I am telling you with a heavy heart that today I am leaving Warhammer 40,000: Eternal crusade. I have been honored to be your creative director for the last 2 years. I gave as much as I could on this project and I am proud of what the team was able to achieve within the project constraints. I am leaving knowing that there will be a great close alpha and that the team has a solid plan to deliver a great game next year. I don't know yet what I am going to do next but there are plenty of exciting opportunities which I am currently considering. I want to thank you and the Warhammer 40,000: Eternal crusade team for your unfailing support and for this journey rich in experiences and emotions. See you soon on the Close Alpha battlefield!

That certainly doesn't inspire confidence - especially since he doesn't leave due to having another job on hand.

That didn't impress me.

Nor i... i keep telling myself that this will be a bit better than Space Marines because it has the other playable races. So being an Eldar would be fun, but honestly feeling like even that part is built up hype to get more money before they shut the debacle down.

What? You guys they sounded so excited, they were having all kinds of fun!

Anyway it made me sad the mmo was canceled. It probably was going to suck also...

Whelp, time to reinstall Space Marine...

Just purchased it.

That was awful.

Man, that looks like a generic last gen shooter... Mass-effect 3 multiplayer without the game.

Take a look at the 360 game Space Marine.

Mass effect 3 multiplayer was pretty damn awesome, thank you very much - this just looks bad.

Oh don't get me wrong, it was far better than I expected. It was a good aspect of a larger game. I would not pay full price for it...

Agreed - it was a great addition to the game, but yeah- not as much as a stand-alone game- although I *would* like it for my PS4

It’s been some amazing weeks leading up to this day. No, amazing months. After I arrived in January, we’ve gone through a wealth of changes, changes which are all with the purpose of creating the most amazing Warhammer 40,000 massive online shooter. The first too.

While being fully aware that many of these changes were not what was talked about almost three years ago, they needed to be done. For a great game to emerge, we needed to get the full vertical shooter slice into your hands, as soon as possible.

For this to happen, we did the following:
We changed the scope and roadmap to a more realistic, iterative approach, instead of "modules" ala Star Citizen, this fit our goal of more rapidly delivering a shooter experience
We switched to Unreal Engine 4 in record time, so we had a solid next-gen shooter engine to fuel the war
We re-prioritized our work to deliver the shooter, before anything massive. If we don’t have an awesome shooter, "massive online" doesn’t matter
We aimed to deliver this in Fall of 2015, because we had a lot of work to do
We worked like Khorne himself was after our blood and skulls
We got a ton of servers and a TURBO button to invite everyone faster
We found some fun, increased quality, and we’re not crashing servers or clients all the time

So, uh, alpha?

And it no longer Massively online either?

You know it is bad when they go down the Stargate online path...

So as expected, it is a very clunky shooter. I held out hope that the eldar would be its saving grace but alas no.
So it is my first steam refund ever

OMG you really don't want to know how pathetic the PVE vs tyranids is. Like laughably random FPS preset for a game engine bad.

Please tell me that Space hulk Deathwing is going to be much better than this.

MMO turned competitive mp. Yeah, doesn't surprise me this hasn't turned out well.

Yea it was obvious it was going down hill when they were trying to implement the Space Marine engine for the MMO.

I'm having bad luck with SciFi MMO Kickstarters.

Repopulation went bust and now this.

A friend convinced me to buy this, telling me it's recently become an amazing Warhammer game thanks to updates aplenty. Anyone else playing this still?

Sorry but i have to disagree with your friend. It's not.

I LOVE FPS games.

I LOVE the WH40K universe.

This game makes me want to hunt down the developers one by one and prevent them from breeding so these mistakes cant be duplicated.

It has a lot of great ideas, but execution is just bad across the board.

Sigh, yeah, 17 minutes into the tutorial level and it crashed. Not a great start.

Sad. I was hoping this would be good. At least there's dozens of other Warhammer games.
