Baseball season, baby!

Iceland Yankees! Has a nice ring to it. They''d still be the best team in the AL

Or they could cheat and not move, calling themselves the Iceland Yankees of New York instead.

Yeah, gotta say, that is the dumbest thing I''ve seen in a long time. Why doesnt every team just be the something something of NY/LA, then everyone can share revenue from media markets. Revenue sharing, baseball...blasphemy!

Mariano Rivera may want to consider moving to Iceland after yet another blown save against the Red Sox. That guy''s fallen and fallen hard.

Edit: Mariano, who''s your daddy? Choke!

Hey Mario does a pretty good impersonation of Mark Wohlers.

Then i''ll care slightly more about whether Plaxico Burress is or isn''t total crap, based on the playoff situation.

So I assume he was signed by the Giants? I''ve been so out of touch in sports the last month.

Yes, and, given his ""Me, Me, Me"" attitude and Tom Coughlin''s general asshattery, i''m not seeing a good relationship.

Anyway, Mariano''s gone, i''m hoping Carl Pavano can do what he did another 15 times this year, I''m also hoping Rick Ankiel can make it back to the show, but I doubt it.

Anyone think the Mets will be Wildcard players this year? They''ve had a penchant for being a talent sinkhole like the Rangers were, players have great years elsewhere, get signed for nice contract, proceed to suck.

I''m hoping hard that they''ll have a good year though. I''m tired of the freaking Braves and their worst-fans-ever-fans.

I have been wary of the Mets this year. Yes they got Pedro. Yes they got Beltran. And Beltran hit some homers last year, but 28 homers while his BA has steadily dropped year after year .... I think the Mets may have found baseball''s version of Larry Brown.

And Pedro is not as dominate as he once was. Piazza is getting up there (Are they still experimenting with him at 1B?)

I don''t see the Mets contending. I am kind of pulling for the Phils to unseat Atlanta.

Coughlin is awesome. He''s exactly what Fassel''s pussified team needed.

As much as was made about Brunell and Coughlin ""feuding"", Brunell has said at every opportunity that he would play for Coughlin again. Far too much is made of Coughlin''s strict behavior. Strict as it might be, he is softer verbally on his players than many other coaches (Gruden, Parcells, etc). He sets the rules and uses fines to make his point instead of verbally dressing a player down in front of his peers.

He''s a remarkable X''s and O''s coach. No coach will ever out-work Coughlin. The guy may die in 10 years, but he''ll die in the film room.

In the end, from all of his years in Jacksonville, only the whiny kicker really had much of a vocal complaint in the media about Coughlin. The Jags in 7 years did less crying than the Giants did in one year. I think Coughlin is drawing out the Giants players in need of being fitted in pink frilly dresses (yes, Strahan included).

Hey hey Coach? What''s the name of this thread? Football season is dead and buried. Kick it to the curb.

Baseball''s such an antiquated little game. Time to meet the new century.

Yeah, that''s why no one plays chess anymore either.

Careful what you call antiquated, since both sports originated in the mid-19th Century.

Off-Topic stuff.

Yes, yes, yes, likeable hardass, yadda yadda yadda. I remember the 2000-2002 Jaguars. They blew. Yes, I know this was in part because of Fred Taylor''s trick groin going out every 2 games, but simply he ain''t that (or very) good. Between that and the Giants history of A.) Atrocious draft picks and B.) Atrocious free-agent signings, I feel glum. I''d swear Isiah''s running that team sometimes.

Back on topic, my favorite story of this year will be, by far, watching the Cubs flail and die again this year. I do not hate the Cubs, and I honestly want them to get over this hump and win a title. That said, they are entertainment of the highest order, at least Dusty Baker is.

Yes, they had 3 rough years after 4 years of playoffs, including a 14-2 season and 2 AFC Championship games. It''s the NFL, you don''t stay on top forever, the salary cap catches up to you.

Interestingly enough, Fred Taylor only missed significant time in 2001, and didn''t miss a single game in 2002. 1,300+ yards in 2000 and 2002. Not so bad.
