Rocket League Catch All

If anyone needs a player, shoot me an invite or friend me up. I'm on EST so I probably won't be on too much past 10 or 11 on weeknights. I'm getting annoyed playing pugs. There seems to be a skill gap growing, where people are either really good, or just chase the ball around like a 5 year old on pixies sticks and constantly whiff. Playing with some people where the team is a little more organized seems like it would be fun.

PSN: IUMogg

Friend invite sent - if you see me on and playing, hit me up!

I'm online and ready to rock, but have no idea how to party up. Help!

Man this game is so fun! My son and I have been playing split screen and having a ball. This is the cool kind of indie surprise that I never see on Games with Gold. Made me buy a second controller for my PS4. Well done again, Sony!

We have a party, led by Gumbie, if anyone wants to join in!

Amazing good times tonight!

God I suck at this game. But it is one of those games that you can feel yourself slowly getting better at it. The first couple of matches were really frustrating, but once you get a handle on the physics, it starts to become clearer how you play things.

I felt like I was awful for the first hour. Then over the course of the next two things got a little better, and a little better, and then I had one of those games where it felt like I could do no wrong and I scored 8 goals.

Still spectacularly bad at being patient and properly judging how best to hit the ball when it's about to bounce though. I whiff so much.

I played a couple games yesterday evening and I couldn't do anything right. Like, ANYthing. So I quit and played some WarThunder and I couldn't do that either.

Then I built some Ikea furniture instead, and that went swimmingly. Maybe the ps4 was telling me to do what I was supposed to be doing anyway.

I tried a new tactic yesterday that is very effective when you are playing with a team where the whole team is going for the ball. Play the goon. I would forget about the ball and instead look to see who on the other team is defending the net. Then I would proceed to pushing them into the net over and over. It probably pisses them off (so they make mistakes) and if something does set up in front of the net, they aren't in a position to help (usually they are spinning out of control or on their back).

I'm having fun with this just playing splitscreen with my son with bots. I feel bad for my controller though, something about this game, I keep finding myself with this deathgrip and slamming buttons way too hard hehe.

This game has me shopping for a better chat headset and a second controller.

You sounded loud and clear yesterday. I wouldn't have guessed you were using the one that comes with the PS4. I'm using the Tritton one which is good if you want to run the game audio through a surround setup.

If you're going to ask for any advice regarding headsets, the folks over in the ps4 thread are really helpful.

That's the one i'm looking at! Guess I'll go for it.

I'd rather talk heavy metal singers in the WiiU thread.

It was a tad snug for me, but I stretched it out for a couple days by putting it around something larger than head size. Worked like a charm and now it's really comfortable.

Inappropriate joke.

I am so in love with this game. Add me on steam and PSN and I'll play whenever invited, I'm mostly playing on PC currently. My PSN is Mr_Klinck.

How did I sound last night? I want to make sure I'm coming through clear, but I'm afraid to ask question in the PS4 thread. I'm using the Sony Gold headset.

Also, that was a lot of fun. I wish Sony had the server infrastructure Microsoft did. 3 vs 3 games (both early in the evening and later in the evening) were great.

Since the game has dedicated servers that are being used by both PC and PS4 players, I would think that has little to do with Sony.

What I mean is, I feel like Microsoft just handled that stuff better. There were spikes at initial launch, but there was a guaranteed level of service that isn't necessarily there when servers are handled by the companies that make the game. Obviously the folks that developed Rocket League didn't plan for the game to be this popular.

I could have wished your dulcet tones were a tad louder, but they were very clear.

Also, I agree with you about the server thing, as we discussed last night. Some matches were perfect, but as the night wore on, the lag became a serious hindrance. It's a testament to the game's fun factor that we stuck with it.

Lol. The funny thing is, you got stoked because I was on your team (after I scored like 5 goals in 2 games) and then I proceeded to go all keystone cops and commit "own goals" left and right. I need to go through the tutorial, clearly.

Indeed. The fun factor is through the roof.

Yeah, I thought you were a tad quiet, too, compared to the rest. That may be a talking calmly versus the rest of us yelling and shouting however. If there is a way for you to boost it a touch in settings, it wouldn't hurt. Definitely not a problem, though.

My nephew and I might be on a bit tonight. Feel free to add me on PSN (fuzzyslug) and invite me if you'd like a couple of more players.

I don't know that there's anything I can do since I use the Sony Playstation Gold headphones. I'll look for a setting in the PS4 menus, but there's no physical microphone thing to move closer to my face or anything like that.

Looks like you can adjust it. Not sure if the Sony PS Gold headphones block out that option, though.

I'm gonna go through and check that setting for myself. I can't recall if I played around with it using my current headset.

I did it!!!

Make sure you have the microphone side on the left of your head... I've made the mistake of having them on backwards a few times, and then no one can hear you

I added you, though I may not be on tonight, as the semis for the Gold Cup are this evening (starting in four minutes, even).
