It is SO good.

Boss asked me if I liked rap, I said "Eh, I respect the old stuff." Then he asked if I liked Queen, "Of course."

Been digging ONRA's Chinoiseries a lot lately.

I think I linked to this in the Name a Band/Song... thread, but it deserves to be cross-posted.

9th Wonder - Jamla Is The Squad = Yay!

Pharoahe Monch - PTSD = Hooray!

Schoolboy Q - Oxymoron = Huzzah!

P.S. - Did I praise "Jamla Is The Squad" on Twitter mostly because I was hoping I'd get RT'd by 9th Wonder? YOU BET YOUR ASS I DID.

A little turntablism for the Easter break.

Some very decent hip-hop out this year so far: http://rateyourmusic.com/customchart...

New Army of the Pharaohs drops next week...

That is dope.

I slept on this when it was released.. I was dumb.

7L + Esoteric + Inspectah Deck = CZARFace

I'm no hip hop expert, but I'm on a hunt for good female fronted music of as many genres as possible and I'm completely in love with Azealia Bank's album, Broke With Expensive Taste.

It's pretty poppy and dance heavy, but I like her style.

She's also pretty funny to follow on Twitter and she seems to have an odd nerdy streak. As well as not being scared to start a fight with anyone.

When I heard this song I was all set to love the new Wu Tang album.

Too bad the rest isn't very good (upon first listen).

New Doomtree out today- another solid release. My only complaint is the same I have with each of their albums- needs more Dessa.

De La Soul is Kickstarting a new album. Get to it!

The best part of it:

Sampling is basically copying a piece of sound, from one recording, and reusing it to create a new recording. It is how De La has always made music. The sampler is our instrument, but people who copy, and in this case "sample," have also been considered thieves and unoriginal. So, unfortunately a huge part of our career has also been spent fighting off the “sample police.”

Enough of those battles! For the new album, we needed a completely new approach, something Hip-Hop hasn’t done before. So, here it is: For the first time, we're going to sample ourselves.

Fresh sounds. Me like.

I've only had a couple of distracted listens, but Kendrick Lamar's newest album is goooood. It's been described as Rap Jazz, and that's apt. Well worth checking out.

ARISE! NEW CHANCE THE RAPPER (Alright, fine, it's actually Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment)

I'm gonna give AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP a spin on while I'm on the road tomorrow.

Huh. Very nice.

I didn't find too much to love in the record. It's got a great vibe, but that's all I felt it had.

Of course that was just my first runthrough with the album.

Really digging this indie rap duo Windmills...and not just because they sample video game music

Looks like the update broke these. I thought adding https would fix it, but no luck.

Saw DJ Premier last week which was great.

This summer at festivals I'm checking out: Kanye (why not), Nas, De La Soul and maybe who I'm most excited to see.... Run the jewels.

Kendrick Lamar also but was kinda meh on his new album.

Goddamn Aesop Rock still doing his thing.
"Hail Maron Malon - Bestiary" is a pretty fun album

There's a really good interview with Aes on the most recent episode of Open Mike Eagle's podcast.

Actually, Mike's podcast is just really good in general.

You can drop the URL portion and just use the ID string (or whatever it's called) after the .com/ again.

Also, I'm surprised NathanialG hasn't been in here pushing the new Czarface album

Or the latest Ghostface Killah/ BADBADNOTGOOD collaboration:

I'll take things i need to listen to for 500 alex.
Also apparently OME has an adventure podcast. Dude is dope.

Probably the thing I like most about Open Mike Eagle is that he's such an unabashed music fanboy and is constantly referencing other artists and songs that he grew up with (and since we're about the same age it's usually stuff I grew up with as well).

This adventure time podcast is great.
