World of Tanks: Catch All

I sent friend invites out to a few of you. Would anyone be interested in adding this to the spreadsheet?

Yep, I was the one asking for Aslain, but I'll not try downloaded that ever again. I went to the 'download manager' they want to use, and even tho' I declined everything I got all these freaking apps for one thing or another. Took me 90 minutes of grief to uninstall them all. PAIN. If I want Aslain, I'll just get it inside ODM mod.

It should just be a stand-alone installer that you get off his website. There's no download manager at all for it.

In fact, I know what you're talking about -- the actual download page you reach by clicking to skip the ads in the upper right hand corner. That'll take you to the real download.

Re: stats, making silver, and no premium accounts at high (8, 9, 10) tiers.

The only time I ever have "premium" game time is when I get it from some kind of mission.

I have a handful of tier 7 tanks. If I have a particularly bad round I can lose silver, but most of the time, I turn (at least) some profit - 5-20k. The Chaffee used to be 5-10k in the red every time, but it's been MUCH improved with "recent" patches... either that or I've started playing waaaaay better.

I have a few tier 8s researched, but not bought - T32 (US heavy), Ferdinand (German TD - 2/3 of the way to the JP2), GWPanther (German SPG). Still grinding out the IS-3.

The SPG nerf killed the Hummel for me, so I don't know if I'll bother with the GWPanther, the RNG + massive reload time + ammo-costs are keeping me away, for now. I've had some ppl try to sell me on it (in-game), but I'm not so sure...

IS3 is probably the best introduction to tier 8. T32 highly depends on your tastes and play style. In general, if you really like T29, you won't like T32 very much. And if you think T29 is meh, you may find T32 to be much more to your liking. M103 is going back to T29 style of play.

I would stay away from JP2 until you have enough free xp to buy its gun. That tank is PAINFUL with the gun you bring from tier 7. You WILL lose money with it.

Tiger 2 is another good introduction to tier 8. The catch is, for many tier 8s, you have to start playing a lot more methodically. You need to plan your moves and know what you're doing. Things like armour angling are a lot more important at this tier, as is knowing opponent weak spots.

I disagree. T29's turret is pretty much impenetrable at its level and it defines its gameplay, M103 is far from that.

There is really no tank like T29, it's one of my most favorite tanks in the game. There is a reason why, after all these years, it's still in my garage and I drive it regularly when I want to play a fun heavy tank.

You will not lose money driving tier 7 or 8 without a prem account unless you shoot without aiming or you are one of those 1 shot wonders random games are full of nowadays.

Managed to complete HT15 (with honors) in my T29 - damage dealt, blocked, and received to total more than 6k. I decided a loooong time ago, that I was keeping the T29.

The TD15(?) is killing me - deal more than 3k damage is hard - with only a JP, or a Hellcat to do it... (my brit and rus TDs are too weak to even get close)

TD15 would be easy in a T30 or T110E4.

TD15 was a cake in Waff auf E100.

If we are talking about tier 8 only, it should be doable easy enough in ISU-152, Rhm. Borsig or Charioteer. Coincidentally, all 3 are LOTS of fun to play.

Going to be tough with JP or Hellcat only. Old pre-nerf Hellcat could do it but it would require lots of help from 29 idiots. Although, to be honest, if 29 idiots are helping, any tank can do it.

Haha Hedinn, I started the Ger TDs long before that line ever existed :(, and I don't think I want to "start over" to grind up to the Borsig... as jealous as I am of their turret.

It's starting to look like I'm never getting TD15 so I'll have to make up for it with "honors" in the rest. 2 down, one to go.

Speaking of... I kept plugging away at the Light one where you have to be unseen while your team deals 500 damage - I SWEAR I should have had it in a dozen different matches. It turns out I had completed the primary (ages ago I presume), and was NEVER going to get the secondary as I never use the camo-paints. I only found out when I cancelled it, and saw "complete" - man I felt dumb, so now I'm working on the one after it.

To be honest, Ferdi is a good TD as well in its top configuration. It was awesome before it was possible to buy gold ammo with silver. Nowadays, it doesn't have enough camo to reliably shoot from invisibility and it doesn't have enough armor (against gold ammo) or mobility to be among the attackers.

It still has a good top gun though, so if the stars align (when, enemies are either busy shooting at your teammates or stupid enough to bounce regular ammo off your turret without switching to gold), Ferdi can certainly deal 3K+ damage.

I should have updated!

I got my TD15 in my JP - 3073 damage + the secondary (kill a tank)! Just squeaked by, thanks to a couple long fires. It was a Mastery Badge, natch. I got my triple-stripe at some unnoticed point earlier... first triple-mark!

I think that puts me at 3 lines done, with honors - HT, TD, and SPG. Having the hardest time getting my last few LT missions (platoon spotting damage), the only ppl that accept the in-game invites, seem to be the scrubs...

Congratulations, it's awesome to hear and it's quite an achievement to deal 3k+ damage on the JP! It was probably a great game, I wish WoT had the ability to post replays directly to youtube.

With platoon missions, I wonder whether the new dynamic platoons (introduced in the latest patch) will qualify. I haven't tried this functionality yet but it sounds like it was designed specifically to help with this kind of missions. As I understand it, you can invite people to platoon during the match. Try it and let us know if it works!

I've had success in some matches, inviting people "on the fly" - but it seems like these LT missions - nobody wants to join... I've joined every invite, that I've ever received - I assume it's for help with a mission... I never stick around after, though.

I wonder if the reluctance to join with a LT, is that, as a light, you're always low tier (it's a light tank ppl! They're ALWAYS (almost) bottom tier). Either that, or it's XVM elitism, but my stats are pretty good... 53% win-rate, so I don't know.

The cool thing is that they've changed requirements for missions, so that you can do them solo now.

Unfortunately, the Stug you get for the first set of missions looks cool.... and that's about it. I'm never one to gawk over free silver and supplies though.. I've gotten through the second line of TD quests completely, but some of the others are almost ridiculous and the stars really do have to align for you to complete them even moreso... Is it a gripe -- nah, just something like hitting three targets at one time with an SPG can be amazingly tough considering to do that, you've really got to have a big SPG with gold loaded and most tier 10 games, people just aren't usually that exposed -- especially three at once.

BlackSheep wrote:

Yeah, I was disappointed in that Stug. I think I tried it maybe 3-4 times but it left me completely cold, so I haven't touched it for many weeks since.

The second TD seems to be a bit better but I don't have first hand experience with it - I finished LT and TD 2nd tier missions but, since I don't drive heavies and mediums much these days, those missions are stuck somewhere midway. I think I am currently on those (extremely stupid) ramming missions.

Hedinn wrote:

Tbh, almost all of the mission are stupid... or at least, "not going to help your team win". Maybe in an abstract sense, but some of the missions I've completed were done with "I don't care if I should be "doing x" to help, but "OMG I need to just "do y" to finally complete this stupid mission I've been stuck on for weeks!" actions.

Ramming for my mediums isn't too hard, especially in the Type 59, T-54, either Russian tier 10 (pick your target though), or the E50 or E50M, which can seriously punish someone when you crash into them.

For me, I just put the missions in and forget about it... if it happens great, if not, well, whatever.

That's fine for you "tier 10 folks", but down here at tier 7, some of them are damn-near impossible (the "do x amount of damage" ones, specifically).

I mainly want the mission complete for the garage-slots. The tanks themselves seem a little underwhelming.

100% crew members with brotherhood (or rather sisterhood) is the main goal for me with these missions. Garage slots are cheap.

WoT's 5th anniversary celebration kicked off, get a free tier III BT-7art premium light tank, 50% crew and garage slot for logging in once during the next week. 'More celebrations to come this month', end quote. Whatever that will mean.

Ooooo, garage slot! I swear, garage slots are super-valuable to me.

It's worth logging in for the garage slot at the very least. And people seem to be enjoying the LT which is a bonus

Its a fast LT, fast reload on its derp gun, no armor to speak of. Holds its own against same tier (III), and is a threat to tier Iv. Snack food for most tier V, of course.

I just logged on for the first time in more than a year to get my present. Have there been other presents since then? I've got red or yellow text tanks that I don't remember, and 13 garage slots, which I definitely don't remember.

I love crappy teams! No, no sarcasm, really, I do. On the right occasion.

Trying for the LT/SPG mission, have to be in the top 5 exp earners, once. Eligible tanks, I have... an AMX 105 (nope). T-46... not so good. The new BT-7 art, maybe.

My T-46 does a wide flank, finds the M37, gets taken under fire but still manages to kill it and damage another T-46 on the way out, survives, gets 2nd place with just 194 exp (no premium).

Its easier to get in the top 5 when the rest of your team is still trying to figure out which way the ammo goes in the cannon. Most of the team died in the first minute, maybe two, total 4:19 for the match (enemy capped our base).

Haha, just wait until you have a mission to spot for 4K damage. That's where crappy teams will have their revenge!

Anybody playing on Xbox One? Friend me up (say you're from GWJ cause I get a lot of CoD kiddies trying to friend me for some reason) and we'll go shoot some tanks in the face together.

Some of those missions are really contingent on having the right tank on the right map with the right team. That 4k damage spotting? Its fairly easy on Prohkorovka if you can corner that house that can see all of the enemy climbing the hill...if you start from the south. Got lucky with that one.
