Streamers with jobs

Ah ok good :). That works now.

Great to see all that from your point of view. I'm a fine figure of a man aren't I. Very svelte. I see what you mean about the vehicle takedown. Bit of teleporting going on there.

My voice is a heck of a lot better now, thanks to my £10 headphones with boom mike.

Aaaaand there's me failing to get a single second streamed. I tried using my nVidia card's built in broadcasting feature, with no success.

I might try one of the free programs Twitch suggests.

Definitely recommend OBS. It's free, relatively easy to set up and works great.
Don't get lured into thinking you need to spend money on something like Xsplt. OBS has pretty much all the features you'll need for setting up multiple scenes with a webcam overlay etc. There are ways of overlaying the Twitch chat onto your stream as well, but they require some additional shenanigans. It's a nice piece of software overall.

OBS is indeed the sh*t.

For free you cannot beat OBS.

I, personally, prefer X-Split - but that carries a $40/year licence for their Broadcaster software (Their Gamecaster software is, I think, free, but has fewer features).

OBS is a GREAT software to get you up and streaming, to see if its something you're going to enjoy. Once you have a handle on things you might test out other options see what you prefer (and many people do prefer OBS because it's hard to beat free).

Might I ask why you prefer xsplit, wolf?

I should clarify.
Xsplit is good software and offers an upgrade path to more features and functionality beyond the basics.
I used Xsplit for a while because I was wary of using an open source solution. But when I saw that some of the full-time streamers were using OBS I figured there must be something to it.
OBS has all the functionality I need for the basic streaming I occasionally do and, yeah, you can't beat free. So it's a good place to start without having to make any monetary investment.

Is it my imagination, or do videos Twitch videos on YouTube load really slowly?

Wolfstar, are streaming a lot lately?

I'm receiving like 5-6 emails a day, anytime, that you are in a game...

Even on week days. Did someone got access to your streaming key?

Me too, I'm getting multiple emails each day saying your streaming, but if I go to check you're actually not streaming. The incorrect emails are coming only from Twitch - the ones from Beam seem to be correct.

I'm getting them too. I have three so far this morning, one at 1:41, one at 5:42 and one at 9:43. All for Payday 2.

Hmm... I just noticed those are exactly 4 hours (and one minute) apart. Looking back, I see one at 9:40 and at 5:40 last night, which continues the every-four-hours pattern.

Is something causing Twitch to send out a notice every 4 hours?

Edit: Just went back several more days and they are indeed coming in at 4 hour increments (with an occasional offset of a minute or so). Every now and then it skips one, but they are consistently coming in around 1:40, 5:40 and 9:40, both am and pm. So 6 a day.

RE: XSplit

It really just comes down to the UI for the most part. I simply prefer using XSplit. Find it cleaner, friendlier. It also has a few auto-configuration options for streams that I kinda like.

RE: Twitch notices

Something is seriously buggered on my twitch account. I'm in a convention in Chicago right now, so I haven't had time to test it much. I've actually gone through and disconnected EVERYTHING from the twitch API, to see if something external was doing it (like, restream or something).

So far, despite having dropped all that stuff as of this morning, my friends are reporting that they're still getting notices. I hadn't reset the stream key yet. . . I'll go do that now. Next step will be twitch support.

EDIT - Key reset.

Going online right now with Higgledy to play Resident Evil. www.twitch.TV/hatchetjob

EDIT

Here's the video for anyone that missed it. It's in clear HD on Twitch, but YT is fuzzing it up a bit. Sound quality is good though. I've started it just before a mission where everything kicked off.

Here is the video on Twitch. It doesn't stop as much as the YT one.

Fun fights :). There is a pause in the video just after where it starts but it doesn't last long.

Join me my friends as I hate play Starfleet Academy.

You call it bazeball, we call it rounders. Well right now this English guy is going play for the first time in Super Mega Baseball on Ps4 at twitch.TV/hatchetjob

Well that was confusing. I felt like a blind man trying to read braille made out of blancmange.

Hello Streamers! There's a lovely little thread over here that is trying to get some momentum behind a charity event, and the topic of using something like twitch to stream in people that aren't local to the event came up. Unfortunately, we don't know much about that. If any of you have some knowledge you could share on it, we'd definitely appreciate it.

I chipped in with the basics, but if others want to help out, the more the merrier.

I'm pretty early in Witcher 3. Just decided to do some streaming. http://twitch.tv/nsmichael

Me and Higgledy are playing GTA online now. at www.twitch.TV/hatchetjob

Whoo!

Shameless self-promotion mode ACTIVATED!

ParallaxAbstraction had the notion to try and stream the E3 press conferences while he and cohorts such as myself discuss our thoughts and impressions on them. So if anyone is interested in listening to us talk about the conferences as they happen and interacting with us via the chat, follow along on his Twitch channel. We'll be starting tomorrow night around 9:30pm Eastern before the Bethesda conference kicks off, and will essentially be doing so before each event. So if you know the E3 schedule, you'll know when to tune in.

Shameless self-promotion over.

Wish I could watch, but am 6 hours ahead of you guys. Will watch it on youtube after

Probably not a big deal, but I've been wanting to make highlights of my gameplay and post the better parts of my streams to Youtube as is the popular thing for some time. I even bought a copy of Adobe Premier Elements to start doing that with months ago - and then I realized I have no idea how to start using it.

Today, while waiting on a SAN to stop tossing errors and update my drive firmware at work, I learned that Adobe has free tutorials RIGHT on their site - and a cursory glance looks like they'll teach me everything I'll want to know. So now I just need to take the time to start making edits.

On the flipside, this is more time I can watch others' streams instead of streaming 5+ nights a week, and wrecking my sleep schedule by being up until 2am or later on work nights.

So, since I'll be diving into this next week (probably) - what's the one thing you wish someone had told you when starting to make video edits, YouTubers?

Me and Higgledy33 are about to play GTA V at twitch.TV/hatchetjob

EDIT:

Here's the video. I would upload it to youtube, but I think the licensed music would flag something. They need to sort that out.

Me and Higgledy33 are about to play GTA V at twitch.TV/hatchetjob once again. tune in now.
