Grand Theft Auto V

Sorry I haven't read the entire thread so I don't know if I'm just repeating stuff here, but I found it hilarious and uncomfortable (probably hilarious because it was uncomfortable) when I saw the tool tip in GTA Online that said if you yell into your mic when robbing a store owner at gunpoint, he'll fill the bag full of money faster. I can just imagine someone I know coming by my house and hearing me yelling, "hurry it up you bastard! give me that money!"

It does work, that's the best part. And sometime, if you did it successfully, you'll get 2 money bags.

It's doubly uncomfortable when someone's yelling in GTA online I had a guy do that the other night. People were confused when someone started yelling the American pledge of allegiance in voice chat, but I was grateful he wasn't really role playing the robbery for our enjoyment.

I drove by someone's apartment and they were singing in the shower.

Sorry to whomever invited me to join them on Sunday, I was playing through the TV and wasn't set up for voice chat.

All it does is register that sound is coming through the mic, so you could sing lullabies to the guy in the convenience store and he'd still fill the bag faster

If you ever see me on and need help on something or want some company(voice or no) send me a message on the Social club thing(you can click the gear icon to check your own btw, it's hidden away). Unless I'm in the middle of something with my friends I'll gladly hop in and give you some pointers, help out where I can, or as Wolfstar witnessed, crash my armored kuruma face first into a dumpster.

I had a great time online with czaeba tonight. We cleared the first heist together a couple times and ran a few 2 man jobs. Based on how much I enjoyed playing, I think I will be online a lot. Maybe too much.

I've found a couple groups of REALLY great people to play with - including getting some time in on stuff with Woot (who taught me about Daily quests. As if I'm not addicted enough to this game!).

Last night my buddy finally got back from being at a wedding so we got to drive around and destroy each other over and over. My personal favorite was him trying to run me over when I was innocently standing in the middle of the street - all because I'd rear-ended him a few minutes before.

Shame he didn't know about remote detonators. . . .

Just wait till you unlock dailies. 3 tasks a day that give you $25k and a lot of rp. Every 7th day you get 100k and even more rp and on the 28th day you get 500k even MORE rp.

It really helps to have a friend that can hop on for 30 minutes or so and work together on them. But it's a great reason to play every single day and those 30 minute daily runs turn into 2 hour mission runs.

Last night I finally tried Survival missions with PacoDeth and Lightning. They are pretty fun and a nice break from standard vehicle and drug thefts. Unfortunately, we rarely see enough folks on to try to do Heists, but it is what it is.

I don't care for the Unlocks based on winning races. They should have made the unlocks a place top 3 rather than winning, as some people are real dirty when racing, you know who you are. I guess you have to turn off slipstreaming, catchup, and custom cars to make races more "fair". Paco and I had to grind out some races, so we could get some unlocks we wanted (turbo) by letting each other win. It takes 72 Wins to unlock all race related unlocks I think and doing it legit seems like it would take a better part of a year to accomplish.

I really wish I could store/sell guns I don't want in my weapon wheel, or minimally if it kept the firearms I last used in the slots everytime I loaded up the game. Aside from explosives, I really don't want extra options anyway.

Looks like Nvidia released their WIP graphics guide for GTA5. http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/gui...

Sorry for not replying to your invites. I was already in a heist with some friends. Gonna see tonight if I can free myself to help you out. What VoIP program are you guys using?

I am Fl8mingPeasant in the social club if you want to add me.

Hey W00t, you're wise about Dailies.

I had a daily yesterday to "Go for a round at the shooting range".

So I did. Solo. Didn't count.

Invited my buddy. Played a full challenge instead of just one round. Didn't count.

Launched a session with a stranger, lost a full challenge, didn't count.

Read online that that daily can be buggy, but I'm rather annoyed that day 3 of doing dailies I was stymied. Any thoughts?

I had a similar thing with Tennis. My buddy played 4 matches in a set and the other player left, he still got credit. I had to play a full(one player wins 6 or 7 games) set before it'd give it to me. I'm not really sure, did you try logging off and signing back in? I have seen some people getting pissed about dailies, hell I had them just flat out not refresh for 3 days when I was playing on Xbox One.

Signing on and off is the one thing I don't think I tried, so maybe that would have done it. I'll just write-off the possibility of ever getting 28 straight dailies in a row (especially as I seem to have travel plans for a week here or a week there all spring/summer long).

I'm still gonna try to get a full week in before my trip to Chicago the first week of May, however. . .

Been working through the heists with some friends - holy sh*t, they are SO well done. I highly recommend playing with friends if you have any. If not, make some people - they are great!

I've managed to get acquainted with some friends-of-friends via Beam.Pro (a competitor to twitch.tv), and YES. The heists are super-well done with multiple objectives/paths/tasks. The timing of "you drive here, you go there" and how things all culminate together on a REALLY well orchestrated timer.

Then, playing it with people who have the same sense of fun as you do (be that cracking jokes, going hardcore serious, or something else) makes the game that much better. Hands-down, people need to experience the Online mode with others. It's SUCH a blast.

Yeah I hit my second week yesterday, so two more wednesdays and I'll hit the full month. I'd like to at least hit it once, plus it'd go a long way towards the Hydra I'm saving up for.

If only I was part of an online community with people who play this game. What fun I would have!

How does going into GTA online solo work? Can you still acrue cash/xp, etc.?

Logging in solo just puts you in a private world, so no other players can mess with you. Everything else is the same, you can do a lot of stuff alone, running races, flight school, missions and so on, you gain rewards for those just like if someone else what playing with you. Of course stuff like deathmatch, last team standing and so on requires more people but each job has a minimum amount of people listed so you should know what you're getting into ahead of time.

In my experience, it puts me into a populated server just all by myself, usually in my fancy penthouse condo. If you hold down Select you can pick, "enable passive mode," which makes you immune to most bullets and explosions created by other players. Cops, soldiers and thugs can still murder you, other players can hurt you if you're in a car, and you can run over other players (but don't, because that's not cool, man).

In single player, you can choose to launch online in Solo mode. That's what I'm referring too. You can also launch closed friend, closed crew and invite only games as well.

Edit: And it's really one of my biggest issues with the online for this game that I can't swap between the modes after I'm connected to online. I have to drop back to single player to change that, and that is a nuisance.

I wish I could jump more on with you guys. But I seem to be running into a ton of crashes (online and singleplayer). Its starting to sour the experience sadly.

The MP is one of the most un-user friendly experiences I have ever had. A friend and I hopped in hoping to do some co-op shenanigans and never did figure it out. After over half an hour we finally got voice chat working, and then couldn't figure out how to join jobs together?

What are we missing?

It'e obtuse, and I only just got the hang of it.

1) Start a job via:
a) phone invite from an NPC
b) Running into a blue circle in freemode
c) Via the 'online' section of the ESC menu under jobs

2) Set the job options, then confirm. Immediately set it to 'closed' instead of 'open'

3) On the same screen, you have many options for inviting. My favorite is to go to 'My friends' then 'from my friend list', then invite your friend

There are other handy options like 'from my crew' and 'from my last job' etc. Once you get into one job, you can stay together in future jobs.

If you want to just play together in free mode, open go to the social club menu (press Home), them find your friend and hit either 'invite' of 'join' to get into the same world.

Speaking of MP, Cheeba, syndicate_dragon, and I are going to form a regular crew on Thursday nights for heists. If there's anyone who can make it regularly and wants to join us, let us know.

Edit: I should note that we're aiming for Thursday night heists as a minimum. If we get the crew together on other nights, we'll do the same thing. If we can't get everyone, we'll at least be helping with dailies and normal jobs.

PacoDeth7 and I have been playing almost every night. We tried to finish up the prison heist w/ Lightning and Co. last night to no avail - some parts are damn hard in that Prison break.

I'm trying to lvl up so I can do heists. Slowly at lvl 5, any tips on speeding up the process?
