Explosions of Gaming Anger and Rage

Generally I don't tend to swear much. I don't have anything against swearing, but I've discovered that if I keep my f-bombs rare, when they do drop people notice. That's actually quite useful, so I make an effort to only swear when I mean it.

When I'm playing a tough video game I cuss like a sailor.

MMO PvP also tends to send me into a rage, especially when I try it with a fragile, fiddly character class.

There's a lot of additional things on this topic I could say, but perhaps they're best kept for the Feminism thread. Still I thought it worth bringing up, as an alternative perspective on how anger gets expressed and who is allowed to express it.

That's definitely worth bringing up. Thank you for sharing.

I once saw McChuck almost put his XBox controller through the floor while playing Halo on Legendary. He'd been almost completely still moments before.

Games can annoy me to the point I stop. Can't really recall one making angry enough to break stuff. Microsoft's old drm policies though... They drove me insane but I was in a weird place at the time. Living in Phoenix,az with no friends. Mom dies, depressed, inherit some money, get the idea to buy an elite and give my old 360 to a friend back home. So we can play games together. Getting the elite and see that all the games I bought online are demos? Call customer service and have them say sorry just how it works. They're tied to the system not the account. I'd like to think I played some part in them changing their policy. Otherwise me taking a hammer to my elite and all my games and mailing it to them was such a waste. Also should have filmed it... I lost the microsoft "f--k you" letter too.

Proud to say I haven't done anything like that since. Dealing with my social security number being stolen really came close though. Police giving me the run around. Bham police "The crime is in texas so file a report there." Texas police "You're the victim so file a report there." Probably a couple 1000 people using my social now grr!

edit *found the crazy post* Wish I still had those pictures lol.

Usually I'll just nope out of a game and stop playing it, either for a long time, or forever. Can't say I've ever damaged gaming equipment out of anger.

Right there with you. I'm pretty amazed at some of the posts in here. Wow.
I guess I'm a seethed, if I have to pick one. But if I'm frustrated with a game, I either give up and turn it off, or consult a walk through.

Gaming is for fun, in case some of us had forgotten! ^^

I'm glad Katerin mentioned the gender component. Clearly, I was brought up to think it was very unladylike to show anger.

Ungentlemanly too

Tiger Woods 2010 - 1st round was on Monday evening .. (my character) -6 under par, tied for third place. One of my best rounds, and was unlucky not to be -8 with the lead.
2nd round last night +5 over par in the wind and heavy rain. 3rd round went completely to pot half way around as my stress levels peaked.
Switched the game calmly off whilst a volcano erupted behind my ears.
Bloody stupid game...

I have never wanted to break anything more then playing Mega Man X7 on the switch. I never played the game before but I have played Mega Man X and X and holy crap it makes we want to snap the dang thing in half.

Eh, back on the TRS-80 ("trash 80"). The decades have since stamped, most, of that out of me; that said, Souls games have put me up to that edge a number of times. As a general rule, I settle for a withering string of profanity sent up to the cosmos.

I actually broke the leg of my keyboard a few months back. Bad night of Rocket League, slammed my controller on the desk in frustration but it went into the edge of the keyboard.

Haven't found a replacement leg yet and my very nice mechanical keyboard is unbalanced. Ugh.

Trying to walk away before it gets to that point now

I don’t really get angry these days. I remember talking angrily to my dwarves in Myth when I’d input a command to throw a bomb and there was an inordinate delay before the dwarf responded. I’d say something like, “oh no, that’s ok. No take your time! It’s fiiiiiine. You’re only being chased by twenty Thrall.”

I definitely walk away if I’m feeling annoyed. In multiplayer I rarely swear but a well timed, “Bollocks!” can work wonders. I generally recognise and appreciate the skill of other players only if I feel someone is cheating will I get annoyed but then I’ll just leave the match.

Lots of swearing or sarcasm at times (especially due to the final boss of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, which I still haven't beaten to this day), but I don't recall anything worse than slamming the mouse down a few times.

To the best of my recollection, nothing ever broke except for my pride.

I don't usually get too upset gaming, but I play a lot of single player. Usually I just give the controller a tight squeeze in frustration and go do something else.

I think my worst lately was Apex Legends and my mouse freezing up. I gave it a little smack on the desk and that's about it. I'm not sure percussive maintenance counts, though.

These days, my rage gets expressed entirely through ALT+F4.

Something I'll do if someone trolls me in multiplayer is stick two fingers up at the screen. It dissipates my potential anger, expresses my disdain quite nicely.
