Enter the Matrix, buggy piece of crap. hmmm maybe I should check if it was fixed

It was never fixed.

In their defense this was released on the original Xbox and PS2 back before they could really patch games

I played the PC version and it had one patch at launch which didn't really fix much. I think that was the last time I ever paid attention to anything David Perry said.

Hitman - Contracts - Wow this is really tricky
Devil May Cry - I'm too old for this level of button mashing ! Fun tho
Midnight Club 3 - Dub Ed Remix - oh I've missed you. Those sexy cars, fully customisable, the GTA driving (pinballing), the sexy soundtrack.
Deus Ex (which I have NEVER PLAYED!) - wow, this is heavily dated. Struggled through the first level.
(+ Super Smash Gamecube for £25) - heh, my first SSB. This is awesome fun (Pikachu rocks !)

Aliens vs Predator 2, never got around to playing this. Loved the first game.

Never got too far in the original, but AvP 2 is one of my favorite games of that time period.
Also one of my favorite gaming memories happened when I was an alien on the ceiling, silently dropped from a pretty big height behind an unsuspecting marine, reared up and....mmmm....braaaiiinnnsss.

While carting my laptop around for work (it's my gaming device, too) I dropped it and the screen busted. No big deal, I'll just go downstairs and play MegaMan Legends 2 on the PS2.

I enjoyed the first game, but don't think I even started the second! Maybe by the time I finish, there will be a third. ;p

I freakin' love Legends, both of them... and Tronne Bonne (sp?) as well. I pine for a third installment in the series, but think Half Life 3 will be confirmed long before that ever happens - and I don't think Half Life 3 will actually happen, mind.

Did... did you miss the MML3 fiasco? Turns out Capcom hates Inafune more than they love money. The jerks.

Nope, didn't miss it... just... just hate Capcom for it so much... between that and MM Universe, well... I fantasized about doing bad, bad things to Capcom execs...

I hit the point at where I stopped playing Mega Man Legends 2. I didn't get very far back then, but will get beyond the first of four main objectives in the game this time!

Would have played longer tonight. Children pay no heed to the playing of classic games. Or, to wired controllers.

All week I've only been playing one game: Crystalis.

What a fantastic game.

I've been meaning to replay this for ages but I was under the mistaken assumption that the battery backup in my cart was dead. Well, it's alive and kicking and I just got to the tower near the very end of the game.

To me this game holds up perfectly, and I haven't had to use a walk-through except for one part I overlooked midway through the game which means I'm at least somewhat better at games than when I was a kid.

Playing it on my original childhood NES with my original NES Advantage just makes it sweeter.

Warrior, I just read up on the Wikipedia entry for Crystalis. Sounds awesome. I like the NES' version of the game premise more than the GBA remake. Guess we've just had so many "prophetic hero" story lines now, that cryogenically frozen scientist sounds much more appealing! May have to check this one out, somehow.

I bought Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer on the GameCube for 75p ($1.13) for my housemate who is a surf nut.
He's put in over 20 hours this week. And it was a free delivery.
Retro Gaming = value for money

That is really sad too because Crystalis looks right up my alley.

Replayed and Beat MEGAMAN VI for the first time in over a decade. The WiiU eShop Mega sale a bit ago resulted in some nostalgia purchases.

Worth it. Forgot how much I loved the games. Even if they are repetitive and don't build too much from the previous game. I do love the Rush Jetpack though. That was always fun to use!

Well to me it holds up really really well. It doesn't have as much jank as a lot of other games from that time period. If you get an old school craving definitely try it out sometime. Too bad it's not in the e shop.

No Wii or Wii U so I would have to ROM it. Probably already got it somewhere since I downloaded a ROM pack of every NES game ever made plus a few homebrews back in the early 2000s.

I suffer from chronic pain. On Wednesday, after a really bad week of insufferable pain I put Max Payne on my PS2.
I managed to complete the first 3 levels without dying, and even though I have not played this since it was first released, my instincts knew where the dangers lie.
Still so much fun, even though the subject matter is a bit dark !

It's funny how the dark recesses of your mind remember things like that even though you might not have even thought about it in years. I remember really liking the original Max Payne, which is strange because I never even tried the rest of them. I am to remember the second one getting quite a bit of accolades as well.

So I finished a replay of Metroid: Other M today, capturing all necessary footage for it, and decided to start up recording footage for Super Metroid right after.

Holy crap is it a different experience. While technically the "tutorial" section is from the beginning up to Kraid, as that is easily the most linear section of gameplay, it doesn't feel like it. In fact, this game moves by fast. My roommate stepped away for a moment as I was going to get the high jump boots, and when he came back I had already beaten Kraid, gotten the Varia suit, and was exploring Norfair. He was stunned, and honestly, so was I as it had been a while.

Thanks to checking out a little video the other day, though, I decided to break sequence and grab the Wave Beam early, which allowed me to face Crocomire ahead of time. Got stuck at a portion where I needed either the grapple beam or power bomb, though (or it seemed such, until my roommate brought a video of another YouTuber sequence breaking and accessing the power bomb with a regular jump). I'm back on track to go snag the Ice Beam next. If I weren't forcing myself to be a responsible adult I'd still be playing.

I will note, however, that I can also understand why new players could get lost or confused with this game. I'm mostly working off of memory, but even after modifying the controls, I forgot there was a button specifically for dash. Just that minor detail alone got me stuck at a spot in Brinstar. You'd be surprised how much old games counted on you reading and referencing the instruction manual, as most modern games would have popped up a message saying "Hold Dash Button to Dash" or some such. Imagine what it's like for anyone that doesn't play Metroid games, period? Likely as opaque as the original NES Metroid seems to me.

Still, so many details I love, and both my roommate and I already shared little factoids neither of us were aware of. He never realized that, when fighting the first Chozo statue, you can turn into a morph ball and slip by the statue avoiding damage, and I was never aware that you can bomb the ruined platform that Mother Brain had been on and find a missile upgrade underneath.

What an awesome game.

Yea it is crazy but that game is beatable in under three hours without (much) sequence breaking. I managed to do it when I was 16 or so. Had like three failed attempts that clocked it at like 3:13, 3:06, and 3:02 before I was able to do it.

In case you guys don't already know but there is a thriving hacking community behind Super Metroid. It is probably the most hacked game ever made with literally hundreds of hacks to choose from:

http://metroidconstruction.com/hacks...

I myself have only played Redesign, Super Zero Mission, and Phazon Hack which have all been great, but I've also heard great things about Eris, Project Base, Z-factor, Golden Dawn, and Stardust. A serious amount of gaming to be had there.

O.O I had no idea this existed! Soooo perusing thoroughly through this tonight!

Just finished, clocking in at 6:15 with 88% item collection. I got all the Samus upgrades (beams, x-ray, spring jump, etc.), all but ONE Energy Tank, 185 missiles, 45 super missiles, and 45 power bombs (I'm missing one power bomb upgrade from Norfair that I'm not sure I've EVER managed to figure out how to get).

I have a restore point on the WiiU so that I can go back and try to 100% it if I ever desire, but I think 88% is pretty much where I've always capped it.

It's interesting how much little bits of story-telling go on in this game without really outright saying "This is story". Ridley's lair looks to be an old Chozo ruin, there's a random machine digging out a tunnel (is it a Chozo machine? Space pirate machine?), and the lead up to your "reunion" with the Metroid hatchling is... quite interesting.

Next up for footage capture is Metroid Fusion. It'll be interesting going from one to the next.

Oh! And I while I'm at it, I also forgot to mention the Super Metroid Randomizer:

https://smrandomizer.codeplex.com/

Basically it moves around the location of items, making it a very interesting puzzle to figure out how to get around with diffident items than what you would usually have. For instance, I once played a randomizer where I got power bombs WAY before I got normal bombs. Or Screw Attack before space jump.

The possibilities are endless, and it's amazing how well the game design holds up to being pushed like that. Really a testament to how good of a game it is.

Well, I know what I'll be getting from the eShop later this week.

I just wish the eShop supported crossbuy (or something similar), then I wouldn't have to decide if I wanted to play it on my 3DS or my WiiU before purchase.

3DS doesn't have SNES or GBA games available for Virtual Console (unless you got Metroid: Fusion as part of the ambassador's program, purchasing the system at launch). So there's no cross-buy to be considering.

Which could be an even greater disappointment, depending on your outlook.

I went to a small Gaming Con on Sunday and found one table that had a bunch of bootleg SNES games including Super Metroid Redesign. They also had a bunch of english language versions of games that were never released in english (or in english on SNES at least). Stuff like Final Fantasy 5 and Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2). The carts appeared to be well made with most of them having very nice labels (a few looked like they were done with cheap inkjet sticker paper though). Didn't buy any of course because $40 for a bootleg cart seems a bit high when I can get the ROM for free.

Choice is an illusion

I have the original Fusion cart, so I can play that at my leisure.

Interesting how I just assumed that eShops were universal, like the PSN store, silly me (although, maybe the Vita content is only shown in it's store, I can't recall).

Looks like I'll get to pay it on my 'big portable' gaming rig (WiiU offscreen).

Nice little haul
PS/2 - Manhunt, Pro Evolution Soccer 4, Red Faction 2, True Crime - Streets Of LA, Wipeout Fusion, XIII
XBOX 360 - Amped 3
£11.20 ($16.57!)

Never finished The Legend of Zelda as a kid, so I've been working on it the past two nights. Remarkable how well it holds up.

I would guess that the current love for retro styling really helps it not seem dated.
