The Walking Dead (from Telltale Games) - Catch All

400 days style release perhaps?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

What are all of your thoughts...is Season 2 the last we will see of Clementine?

Just finished Season 2. Oh man, what a F up ending I got.

Spoiler:

Killed Kenny and left Jane. That is one messed up woman. If I knew she was doing that I would of look the other way but some how the story was way more fulfilling since it's in The Walking Dead universe. Everything has to end badly.

I think season 2 was a tiny bit weaker than season 1... by a small margin. It's all relative, they are both so good. Episode 3 of Season 2 was really good.

Another thing about other people's choices:

Spoiler:

I can understand the "survival" logic of going with Jane, but that b word is really messed up in the head after what she did to Kenny. My Clementine couldn't do it. Lee taught her better than that.

I also played differently from the first season. I decided to wait until all the content was out instead of playing as episodes came out. I much prefer waiting until it's all out and play one episode a night even if I'm missing the discussion. On to The Wolf Among Us!

This is how I prefer to play also...its just a stronger overall experience. Though I do love serialized content. I think it is a great way to build suspense. Also I tend to forget minutiae that I wouldn't if there wasn't a month or two between releases.

Nope, otherwise why set it up at the end?

However (spoilers for the comic)

Spoiler:

There have shifted forward in time in the comics so maybe the same thing will happen here? go forward a few years to Clem in her teens?

I think we'll have a new POV main character and Clem might show up later as an NPC.

They could just have wanted to keep their options open. I do like your hidden idea though.

Just finished Season 2. I broke my rule for this game near the end, when even while making a decision I knew was bad, I went back and changed it. The ending I finally went with was

Spoiler:

I let Kenny kill Jane, and then when we got to Wellington I left with Kenny. The alternatives to both of these just felt WRONG after I did them.

I think the most gut wrenching part of Season 2 was in Episode 4 when

Spoiler:

Sarah died screaming for her daddy. As a father of twin 9 year old girls, that kept me up that night, crazy as that sounds.

Yeah, that kind of sucked. But as I've said before, there's no "winning" in the Walking Dead, just degrees of losing. Great season, as good as the first for different reasons, in my opinion.

In case anyone missed the news, there is a Michonne mini series coming in February. Season 3 news will come after the miniseries. I will be interested to see how things tie together -- apparently the miniseries will play into season 3.

Ahh, much like 400 Days. I must admit, I haven't really thought about this series since I finished Season 2, despite really enjoying it. Looking forward to it though!

Season 1 was one of my all time favorite game plots. Sounds like they're trying some new stuff with season 3, which I'm hoping is as enjoyable.

It makes me wonder how much story choices and character will transfer over.

So how was Season 2? As good as the first? I loved Season 1, but for some reason 400 days left me cold and I didn't jump on Season 2.

I thought it was waaay better, dude. Way better.

If I remember right, I was somewhat disappointed with the start of season 2, but then it had some really great moments further in. Definitely worth playing in my book.

I'll disagree. Season 2 was a disappointment. Mainly because I didn't enjoy playing Clementine as much as I did Lee.

It was still good though.

I thought they were pretty close myself. Preferred Season 1 only slightly, possibly because it was more novel to me at the time.

Yeah pretty much how I feel. I really did enjoy Season 2, but 1 holds something a little more special because it was all new to me. The 400 days mini-season was a bit weird. I@m glad I played it, but don't feel it particularly added anything to the series.

Season 1 is always going to have a slight edge, I think because it was the first. But Season 2 has a pretty amazing ending. I barely remember 400 Days, so I think that says something about that one. But the full seasons have both been great.

I actually liked 400 Days. It was interesting and had a definitely Walking Dead feel to it. You won't miss anything if you don't play 400 Days, but it doesn't add flavor, and gives extra insight into how people react differently in the Zombie Apocalypse. The characters of 400 Days barely have cameos in the second season which I found a bit of a let down, but... I guess you couldn't really expect them to do more with characters that some players might not have experienced before.
As for the second season. I liked it. It got an honorable mention on my list last year but no more. That's not to say that it was bad, quite the contrary, but it didn't have the advantage of being something new and different that season one had. That being said, I really liked playing as Clementine and having Lee live on in some fashion through her, and her implementing his teachings. And there quite a few interesting moments and they did play with my feelings a few times. I'd still recommend season two. That being said, I have to look, I think I might have a spare key for Season two (Telltale, not Steam two). Not 100% but need to check on my PC.

Welp, this has convinced me to give Season 2 a go then. Seems like a great game to decompress with post Christmas. Thanks for the feedback.

Oh, and Eleima, thanks for the generous offer, but I'll be playing on Xbox.

Confirmed! I have a Season two key redeemeable via Telltale's site! If Stilgar doesn't want it, I'm sure someone else will, right? First one to PM me gets it.

So bummed.

I played season 1 on PS3 on release and loved it, bought season 2 on PS3 when it came out but for some reason my save wasn't detected or was corrupted which out me off playing. Then after a while I came around to playing season 2 with whatever choices it gave me, until late in ep2 things felt a bit off regarding my choices from season 1 not coming through, so I put it down. Finally now, more than a year later I'm on holiday and struggling to find something to play and this pops up and I'm keen. I buy it again on iOS as im away from home, $16au for eps 2 & 3, start replaying from ep 1.

BUT in S2E2 I get a glitch, after returning from the cigarette truck to the house I'm stuck in some scene where I see a close up of a door ajar and a door knob, if I swipe I hear Clem moving around, I'm assuming I'm seeing a scene I shouldn't be. Can't find any interaction points or anything to progress.
I found an entry on the TT forums with the same issue, I've tried the advice from the mods (to roll back and play through from an earlier point) but I get to the same glitch. Haven't seen anyone comment that the recommended solution worked for them either.

So I'm really miffed, I've bought the game 1.5 times and it's a long time since release and it's broken? Very disappointed. I guess I'm just going to have to watch the whole game on YouTube so I can get some closure on the story. :/

So, I watched all of s2e2 on YouTube to get over the glitch and starting up s2e3 with whatever choices it gives me, total bummer. But at least I can get some of my money's worth.

Stuff like that is kind of why I've stopped trying Telltale games. They take on so many projects, and put them on so many platforms, but every episode always comes with news of save glitches and other bugs. There was one I experienced on both playthroughs of TWD Season One on PS3, and those plays were a year apart.

I feel like Telltale needs to reduce its number of projects and clean up some of the code to their engine, but as long as they keep making money, why would they?

I must be lucky, since in my experience, Telltale games have been way more bug-free than the norm.

Sorry you had those issues troubleshot - they would frustrate the hell out of me too

Totally agree.

S2E3 done, so... Jane is f*cking awesome.

I'd enjoy this game more if literally all I did is make the conversation choices and watch all the rest as FMV.
Walking around, interacting with objects and quick time events all bring nothing to this game for me, in fact, they're just a pain.

But I'm enjoying the story, sometime I can't help but make decisions for ME instead of Clem, such as staying to watch the disposal of

Spoiler:

Carver

. Bring on ep4.

S2E4 Complete. Holy sh*t. This game.

Some of these narrative beats are so compelling, but why pretend to give me the illusion of choice when there is none. Cutting to a screen where I can't progress unless I click to pick something up or take an action when it is the only action present in the whole screen? What is the point? Quick time events are still annoying and pointless and some of the time pressure for conversation options are a bit uneccesarily short.
And for f*ck sake, we're now two for two with seasons in which an option is given to steal where I have chosen not to steal and had the offended party come after me for stealing in a big narrative moment DESPITE ME NOT STEALING EITHER TIME!

I'm loving the narrative elements, choices and characters, all except for the above.

Oh yeah. That was annoying. In WD2 they could still have done that scene but had a piece of dialogue acknowledging that you didn't take anything. You can't give people a choice then have a subsequent scene that it only really works logically if people made the choice you wanted them to make.

I also liked Jane. It's going to be interesting to hear your thoughts on episode 5.
