10 Dead In School Shooting In Minnesota

Wounds 13 Others

A student on Monday killed two of his grandparents, then went on a shooting rampage at his Minnesota high school, killing seven people and wounding as many as 13 others before killing himself, officials said.

FBI Special Agent Paul McCabe told reporters the dead include a female teacher, a male security officer and four students at Red Lake High School.

"We believe that one of those students is the shooter," McCabe said.

The FBI office in Minneapolis later said two more wounded students had died.

The school, about 240 miles north of the Twin Cities, was evacuated and locked down, McCabe said.

"At this time, we believe he was acting alone," he said, refusing to comment on a possible motive, adding, "It's far too early in the investigation."

The slain students were shot in one room, he said.

"Apparently, he walked down the hallway shooting and then he entered a classroom, he shot several students and a teacher, then himself," said Roman Stately, with the Red Lake Fire Department, who arrived at the high school moments after the shootings.

This is, of course, a tradgedy. But i'd like to outline something else discovered over at another website...

Suspected Shooter Named As "Tall Goth Kid"

Wiese was described as "a pretty bright kid, but he was lazy when it came to school. He missed a lot of school," a school source said. "He was big into video games."

In his second year of high school, he enjoyed Goth music such as performed by Marilyn Manson.

Jack Thompson is masturbating as we speak.

Indeed. Those bright people are dangerous.

Well this thread has five possibilities:

-A discussion on gun control. *Controversial*
-A discussion on making school into fortresses. *Controversial*
-A discussion on video games leading to violence *Uncontroversial on gaming boards*
-A discussion on the moral aptitude of goths. *Blackest Depression*
-A discussion on why Marilyn Manson is such a smashing fellow. *Lovely*

Press your keypads ......now!

Marilyn Manson is Goth? News to me.

I think we should turn schools into fortified armories, and use video games to teach quick reaction drills to teachers and guards. They could hire Goths, since they are always thinking about death and other icky things.

Hmmm...did I cover it all?

Well there you have it. Kill all the bright kids, problem solved.

Death to bright people!

but he was lazy when it came to school

Only the children with perfect attendance are allowed to stay alive. Problem solved!

(also, asking them if they plan to shoot people, and having them answer ""no"" is a plus, too...)

My son''s teacher says he''s very bright but lazy.

UH OH.

So, who is willing to bet that they find that this kid had a First Person Shooter or any kind of video game across any platform that they will try to link to this?

We should start a pool.

""Which game will it be?!""

My guess is Halo 2. We haven''t had a good Halo shooting in awhile.

I say this is NFL2K5 or Madden. There''s much money there.

TOTALLY! And here is the information to prove Halo 2''s diabolical influence: Halo 2 and the Criminal Mind (NWS language)

Can we blame the media? I mean if they did not cover these tragedies then kids like this wouldn''t get the cockamamie idea in their heads.

On a serious note: My prayers do go out to these poor kids families. I heard about this during my ride in this morning and it really makes you think how lucky you are in life that someone doesn''t just crack and kill you for no reason.

Exceptionally lucky, especially when you know me! (Sorry, I''m having a bad day at work.)

Native American Nationalist Nazi?

This just got confusing.

Today the Libertarian National Socialist Green party said incidents such as yesterday''s shooting were to be expected when ""thinking people are crammed into an unthinking, irrational modern society"".

""We knew [Weise] briefly through 34 posts he made on the forum. He expressed himself well and was clearly highly intelligent and contemplative, especially for one so young,"" the site''s administrator said in statement posted today on Nazi.org.

""Weise participated in the forum in part because, unlike ''white nationalist'' or ''white power'' movements, the LNSG embraces all races as part of its vision of world nationalism. His statements on the site reflected a frustration with the populist politics and materialistic arrogance of modern society,"" the statement continued.

In a July 13 post, NativeNazi expressed his concern that Native Americans had turned their backs on racial purity and were being weakened by ""interracial mixing"". He was particularly annoyed that young Native Americans were copying the culture of African Americans.

While the writing of his postings on the neo-Nazi Web site may have been sloppy and full of typos, Weise was also able to write more polished prose for stories published on the Internet about zombies.

Well apparently you can''t watch zombie movies anymore either. I''m still surprised this hasn''t been blamed on videogames yet.

My opinion on this issue will only sound like trampling on the young mans grave. He was conflicted and hurting then he lost it and gave in to his demons. My real problem with the whole issue is how everyone with an agenda is going to claim this was all environmental and causal as opposed to something willful. After all it''s always someone elses fault right? Somehow he HAD to have been an innocent victim of circumstance. Let the wailing begin.

Blame the parents. Blame video games. Blame the school bully. Blame the gun manufaturers. Blame Arnold. Blame Metal. Blame Pop Culture. Blame America.

I for one refuse to indict anyone or anything save the one who planned it, outfitted for it, and executed it. He did it. It''s his fault. Blame the perpetrator. This wouldn''t have happened if he didn''t make it happen. I know that''s formulaic, but it''s closer to the objective truth than anything we''ll see on the news.

If you are so frightened or broken or tormented that the only way that you can deal with it is to inflict pain and death on friends and strangers alike, then you need to seek help and guidance or kill yourself. You don''t need to murder a dozen people first to corner yourself into doing it.

Well said Gio.

Bwahaha... off topic, but Podunk''s link contains some very good quotes.

""They hesitate to kills you when they thinks you''re a girl,"" reasons John. ""So I''ll have to pretend to be girly on the headset. You know, be all stupid and stuff. Of course, if they think you''re gay, then they kill you more. Unless they''re gay. Which most of them are.""
As politely and casually as I could, I suggested that he ""might adjust his pants."" ""It wouldn''t do much good,"" John replied, ""due to my enormous erection. The erection I get from murder.”

I must say, I did find this very shocking...

But up until I''d read that he killed himself, I had a very curious thought. This all took place on a reservation, as I understood it. If he hadn''t shot himself, if he had lived police intervention... how would the court case have played out? Could the reservation''s governing body have decided to execute him? I would have been very interested to see how that case would have played out.

Still... very saddened by this tragedy... and I am most apprehensive about the inevitable media frenzy of blame.

It would seem that the media is too busy with the Shaivo case to get into a frenzy about this just yet. Perhaps there is a law of conservation for frenzied media?

As for reservation law, I understand that only Federal and Tribal law applies. So, it wouldn''t matter what the state had to say on capital punishment. Of course, if the tribe did decide to execute someone, there might be politcal repercussions. You never know, Congress might have to get involved.

And do what? Take away Native American Sovereignty? They''d be PISSED!

I like this one, too:

What John''s wife had just observed was the Halo custom known as ""tea bagging."" This is a sort of celebration where the victor squats over the vanquished''s face to simulate dipping his testicles into the cold, dead, open mouth of the corpse much in the same way one would dip a teabag into a cup of hot water.

""You wouldn''t understand,"" said John. ""You must allow me to experience the joy of battle victory that only the endorphines released from my Battle Gland provides. Do you not know that I''ve slain 72 men on the battlefield today? Their deaths were delicious to me.""

"Demosthenes" wrote:

I''m sure they would be, but I don''t know how much they could really do about it, either. The Federal Gov. seems to have gotten in the habit of throwing it''s weight around lately. Of course, this is all hypothetical anyways, so who knows?

""You wouldn''t understand,"" said John. ""You must allow me to experience the joy of battle victory that only the endorphines released from my Battle Gland provides. Do you not know that I''ve slain 72 men on the battlefield today? Their deaths were delicious to me.""

Oh, I''ve heard CounterStrike folk talk just the same way...just with less eloquence

A quickie update. Apparently he made a rather violent flash video featuing a character blowing up a police car and shooting people, and he had an account on LJ.

Needless to say, he now has a MASSIVE fan club at LJ.

Interesting! I had about a one hour oddessy through the bowels of the intarweb, thanks to Pred''s links. Ended up reading through a Nazi forum for a while. It was a little less than I had hoped, in that they were all a bunch of idiots. I was hoping there might have been something on there that could help me at least understand why a human being would choose to be a part of a group with that sort a stigma, when there are so many groups which have agendas just as hateful to the groups you hate, but with names that don''t inspire people to punch you. As it is, they were all the typical Nazi I had always envisioned: Pathetic children trying to take pleasure in being an outcast by going as far from society as they possibly can, or perhaps trying to outdo Daddy, who had never done anything but yell at the {racist slur}s and jews.

Bah.
As has been said before, blame the person who performed the action. I can pretty much guarantee you that if there was no Columbine, this would never have happened. The kid had some legitimately unfortunate things happen to him in his life. In the end, though, he decided to become a drama queen. No sympathy.

Native American Neo Nazi.

Obviously this child was confused.

Guess What Everybody?!?

De: When you say ""script"" "” what do you mean?

Newman: What I mean by ""a script"" is that when you look at popular culture, movies, video games, you will see this kind of ""shoot 'em"" pathway running through many of them. It''s not an original idea of his; it''s something that kids are exposed to by the millions.

Only a tiny, tiny handful become shooters, but this stuff is everywhere. What it tends to reinforce in the shooter''s mind is not so much a violent impulse as a template for how to be notorious and alluring and cool as a shooter, and that''s really most of the time what they''re trying to achieve.

They''re trying to reverse their reputation from a social loser to a notorious and attractive character in an anti-hero kind of way.

De: When you say ""template"" what do you mean by that?

Newman: If you pick up the average video game, you''re going to see sequences that look just like the animation this boy produced. It''s not something that we look at and say, "Oh, I''ve never seen that before." You will see it a million times if you pick up any of the common video games available to teenagers today.

I for one refuse to indict anyone or anything save the one who planned it, outfitted for it, and executed it. He did it. It''s his fault. Blame the perpetrator. Same here. Liberals believe in personal responsibility just like conservatives, propaganda notwithstanding. I''ve not seen the ""blame everything but the person"" approach you cite, except for the usual social-conservative reflexive ""blame the game"" blame game.
