GWJFL3: Week 14

firesloth played a great first half. It could have gone either way really. Looking forward to next time.

Sound good to me. About 10 p.m. central or so then?

Sounds good see you then.

Ok, I feel like some football. How about tonight?

Ok Bagga - one down one to go - when shall we play? I might be able to squeeze it in tomorrow say around 7PM? (tuesday)

Warlock and I had a good game today, he put up a solid fight in the first half but a couple quick New England scores out him in a pass or die situation which is always tough to win out.

Good game Warlock!

Indeed, Certis, indeed. If I was a better player, and could adapt my offense and play better defense (and by that I mean actually PLAY defense, instead of just calling the Coach''s Pick, controlling a lineman and hoping for the best) I think it would have been closer. My first drive and my last drive were like buttah, but I couldn''t get ANYTHING going any of the other times. And I damn sure couldn''t stop your stupid run game.

Just wait... one day I''ll be good... I promise!

Highlander Certis and I just got disconnected and if we start another game I am going to miss our game. If we could re-schedule for another night that would be great.

Maybe tomorrow night. I am supposed to play Loganrapp tomorrow night (I think) and I apparently will have a house full of kids over for a sleepover during spring break ... so it might very well come down to a coin toss. Can I reach you on Xfire or AIM tomorrow night?

Let''s go for that; if I can''t make it for some reason I''ll let you know.

Frostfire-- I tried to reply to your IM, but it looks like you didn''t log in yesterday. The easiest day for me is today anytime after 7:30 EST. I could also do tomorrow starting between 6:30 and 7:15, or Thursday between 6:30 and 7:30.

I''ll leave my AIM up tonight my username is MOG36K I''ll also be replaying my game with Certis so if you want I will most likely be on around 7-8PM PST.

OK I''ll IM you tonight (thehighlander42)

Poppin,

Let''s go tonight at, say, 8pm EST?

Logan-- sounds good. I''ll see you then. And hopefully by then I''ll have found my form 1098. I hate tax-time, and all I have to do is just gather everything together... ARGH!

My mother''s an accountant. I love my mother. We''re done a month in advance.

I''m gone until next tuesday, so advance and give me a loss as needed grumpy.

Based on my new policy of assigning forfeits as soon as I hear/read about them, this is done. If, for some reason, you become available, let me know and I should be able to reset the game.

How about if I want a win - will you assign me one of those :)?

Good game logan-- those two third down QB runs over the last drive sealed the deal for you. We both had long drives that just didn''t end in points, so-- a 7-3 defensive struggle.

Chargers Sack Steelers

On an unusual night in Pittsburgh where the temperature remained seventy degrees for most of the game the San Diego Chargers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-7 before a crowd of over sixty thousand people.

Maybe it was the San Diego like weather that allowed the Chargers to come into Heinz field and escape with a rare victory, or maybe it was the ten sacks allowed in a pathetic performance by the Steelers offensive line.

The Chargers definately looked at ease in the first quarter stopping the Steelers three and out to start the game and then taking the ensuing punt and driving 41 yards keyed by a briliant 29 yard run by Ladainian Tomlinson for the first three points of the game.

In the second quarter the constant pressure applied by the Chargers defense payed off big as Jamal Williams batted a pass straight to defensive line mate Adrian Dingle who ran the interception back 54 yards to put the Chargers up 10-0. However the Steelers wouldn''t go down without a fight just when it seemed the game was getting out of hand Ben Roethlisberger led the Steelers on a brilliantly executed two minute drill driving the Steelers 74 yards capped by a beautiful touchdown pass to Hines Ward with just 35 seconds left in the half.

In the second half the both defenses stiffened exchanging punts until the end of the third quarter. With starting quarterback Phillip Rivers sidelined for the rest of the game with an injury. Backup Drew Brees completed his only pass of the day and it was a backbreaker. On second and six Brees threw a flag pattern to Reche Caldwell that floated just over the free safties hand and ended up netting 65 yards and a touchdown for the visitors.

Pittsburgh would try to come back but the constant pressure by the Chargers defensive line combined with a timely interception in the red zone combined to stymie any hope of a comeback.

The victory for the Chargers was not without consequence however. Against one of the most physical teams in the NFL injuries were rampant. The Chargers lost their starting quarterback, strong safety, and defensive end as well as their nickel cornerback. Rivers looks like he''ll be back next week however the other players are all doubtfull.

With the victory the Charger''s remain in second place in the league at 11-3 and have been on a terror during their current five game winning streak outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 133-28. Pittsburgh with the loss drops to 9-5 but remains well entrenched in the playoff race and currently is fifth place overall.

Jaguars Fall to Earth.

Vengeance was in the air as the Jaguars, lead by the much regaled coach Legion came crashing back to earth in a humbling 38-7 defeat.

As the game started coach Neo was already in a tizzy over the lack of voice communication. But the gloves came off after the Jaguars went for it on 4-1 on their own 38 during the opening drive. The Jags would go on to score on the initial drive but it would be the last time they entered the end zone. The Jags defense never stopped the Packers offense and the game was over by the half.

The Packers, offended by the blatant disrespect and a perceived lack of football ethics played as if they were a team possessed. Jaguar players interviewed after the game commented on the Packers players glowing eyes, amazing focus and the strange blue horseshoe patches that adorned their left sleeves.

After the game Ahman Green was quoted as saying "I just felt like I had to go out there, give 110% and make opposing DBs my Female Doggo's. They don't call me Batman for nothing. Wanna see my tats?"

Fun Stats:

Jags:

Fred Taylor never got it going and was held to 75 yards.
Byron Leftwich was 1-12 for 40 yards passing and forced to look for the run on many occasion.

Packers:

Brett Favre was nearly perfect throwing for 264 yards on 12 of 17 (3 blatant drops) passing for 5 TD's.
Ahman Green carried the rock a manly 32 times for only 95 yards but was effective running down the clock.

Coming Soon: Neo's NFL2K Corner

Well ... At least Neo hasn''t let it go to his head.
