What SERIES do you really need to finish (or start)?

The Witcher (only beat the first one, own the other two), Ass Creed (only played 1 and 4), and Fallout (only beat 1 and 3).

The Witcher
Mass Effect 2 and 3
AC:BF
Dragon Age

Just play XII and you're done. Nothing else to see here.

The Witcher 2,
Fallout 3: vegas,
Assassin's Creed 4, still have not picked it up

Dead Space: have them all, have played none.

Ratchet & Clank: Beat the fist back in PS2's prime, have a few of the newer titles in my library, must get HD remakes and get into it full-force. I really did enjoy the first one.

Sly Cooper: Beat the first back in the day, platinumed it in the HD re-release, have the other 3 titles in the series but have yet to hunker down to play through them.

Okami: have both Okami HD and Okamiden, both started, no more than a handful of hours spent in each.

Hitman: Played a bit of 2 when it released, then aborted due to my then-PC crapped out. Have the freebies form PS+ (including HD Trilogy which will drop for free next week on PS3), which would be a perfect thing to give this series a serious go.

Dark Cloud: Played the first, enjoyed it, though it wasn't great by any means. Haven't been able to ever secure a copy of 2 given the fact that it's now terribly expensive and it hasn't been released on PSN.

I'm pretty happy not playing everything in a series - but there are some Franchises I've whole-heartedly devoured. It isn't often that I'll go more than two games back though. I've dabbled in Mass Effect 2, but I never played the original and I found it kind of hard to get into without doing the original.

Ultima Was the first franchise I really started to deep dive into. I've played IV, V, VI, VII+expansion, and VIII. And the NES Exodus game, and the first Underworld one. I don't feel much of a need to go back and play I or II. And VIII was so bad it killed my desire to play IX, which I hear is pretty bad as well.

I played every Quest For Glory but not the last one. It came out around a time when I put video gaming on hold for a bit, and I never got the opportunity to swing back into it. And I loved the heck out of that series. To my great regret I inexplicably haven't played King's Quest VI (IE, the best one) either. I'm not sure why I stopped.

I love Eschalon Books II and III but have zero desire to play the first one.

The Avernum: Escape From The Pit re-release was awesome, but I don't feel a strong urge to finish the series up. Though I think I heard they were rebooting the whole thing... Which would tempt me mightily. I do have the Avadon franchise opener (because our community is awesome and generous) in my pile and look forward to starting that franchise up.

Next on my hit list though Dragon Age: Inquisition I think I'd be playing Origins and the sequel if I hadn't already before jumping in. I did take a long break when DA2 came out because the reviews were so lackluster, but I played and enjoyed the heck out of it this year.

I've avoid all Witcher games so far. The misogyny is a real turnoff for me, even though the rest of the world sounds interesting. But there's a lot of awesome stuff in my pile, so I don't feel much of a need to dig into that series.

Always wanted to finish the Splinter Cell series. Never got past the second one.

Grand theft auto
Baldours Gate

Many great RPG series mentioned in this thread. For me, it's Metroid. Never played one. Picked up Super Metroid for .30 on VC.

One of these days.

If it helps, you can stop once you finish the third one.

I was just indoctrinating the kids in Pokemon lore, and realised I haven't finished EVEN ONE of the damn things...

Time to find my Pokemon Blue Cart I guess.

Wait, you can finish a Pokemon game?

I haven't even battled the final Gym Leaders, let alone collect all the Pokemon in that particular title. Having said that, I am working off of Blue and Red, you know, back when there was only 151 of the little suckers.

Umm...all of them?

Oh man, yeah, Metriod. Definitely Metroid. Thanks for reminding me. I have them all since Super Metroid (SNES). Haven't finished ONE. I do not love myself for this.

We can start a Metroid support group.

Part of me wants to wait for Zero Mission to eventually come to VC, and start there.

I'm happy to say I can finally cross the Mass Effect series off my list, since I finally finished ME3 last night.

Of course, I haven't bought either the Leviathan or Citadel DLCs for it, so I guess I might possibly revisit it if they ever put those on sale again. But really, I feel like I'm done, so yay!

This acually sounds VERY interesting. As a side note (while checking out what Zero Mission is all about) I found out that my Metroid Prime Trilogy Collectors Edition which I picked up for dirt cheap on whim at Gamestop a couple of years ago is being sold for $250 on Amazon. Excuse my bad english but what the actual f*ck? Did not know I was sitting on this gold mind, no sir.

Hey, I hope you sold that before Trilogy released on the WiiU eShop! I'm ecstatic to eventually get to play Prime Trilogy now. Then, if I'm hooked, I'll head into Super Metroid and Fusion.

Still, haven't started yet, but I own it! Now I'm playing Pikmin. There's a series younger me thought just looked dumb, but as I progress through exploration days, I'm finding that "whoa, this is time and resource management coupled with RTS concepts..." Right up my alley! Sorry I skipped on the original years ago.
I bought Pikmin 3 shortly before the WiiU library bulked up and it got pushed back to the pile.

After this one, I don't know if I'll go backwards. So far though, it's much more enjoyable than expected.

I acually did

Cool topic. I have Fallout 3 and New Vegas sitting in the Steam pile.
Several LEGO games: both Harry Potters, LotR, and Marvel Super Heroes
And I have 2 of the STALKER games.

Could be worse I think. But that's still like a hundred hours of games easily. Not to mention the rest of the pile.

If you have the GOTY editions of the Fallouts with all the DLC you could try a mod called Tales of the Wasteland. It lets you travel from one game world to the other.

That's brilliant!

Yes it is! Can you still pick up the main quests? For example, completing F3 then starting New Vegas?

Can someone sell me on Assassin's Creed? I have the first one and played up to the point where you first wake up in the present day, but that's my entire experience with the series. So about 10 minutes. It's the only major (non-Nintendo only) series I don't think I've ever played any of.. Is that a gap worth filling in?

Yes, but don't feel like you have to catch'em all. If nothing else, they are fantastic virtual museums. If there's an AC game set in a period you're interested in, I think it's worth playing to walk around those streets (and roofs), see the architecture and landmarks, hear the crowds, look at the clothes. They really are beautifully-realized slices of living history. Real museums would be lucky to have resources like an AC game.

Mechanically, they're a mix as well. I had my fill after ACII and AssBro, which arguably streamlined/dumbed-down AC1, and the later games seemed to bolt on way more than I wanted from an ostensibly "stealth" assassination game. Thought I am going to play AC1 and Liberation, after having read more about them (speaking of series to finish fill out).

Story-wise... well, apparently some people like the story. Don't ask me.

For AC, I'd just jump to the second one, and go back to the first later if you feel like it. The first one was basically a proof of concept for the series, and had a lot of design issues. The second one was where they really figured out what was what. I'd say AC2, AC:Bro, and AC4 are the high water marks for the series, and everything else is safely skippable.

This is what I have been told too. I lasted longer, maybe 1-2 hours with the first game, but started hating it. Everyone says AC2 is better and the way to go. I picked it up for $5 in a Steam sale but haven't got around to it. Want to play it before I dip farther into the series.

I played a few hours of Mass Effect 1, and despite owning 1 and 2 on pc I'm going to hold out for a remastered trilogy on the latest consoles. Not sure when or even if it'll happen, but playing each installment seamlessly with the same character, with updated textures, really appeals to me.

I've had both the entire Broken Sword series (except the 5th game) and Tex Murphy series waiting for me ever since I bought them during a GOG sale over a year ago. Recently I managed to start going through the Gabriel Knight series that I bought at the same time so I'm hoping my current inspiration for classic point-and-click adventure will drive me to complete the other two series in one go.
