Updating thread title for all-catchiness.
====================
We've got a few new faces around town, so I figure it's time for a meetup.
If nothing else, Chicago Loot Drop has the Shamblers' Ball coming up on Monday, October 27. 19th Century dance, crashed by zombies. McChuck did this for his 30th birthday and it was a hoot.
Anyway, anyone else want to propose later dates for a more dedicated GWJ event?
Next Upcoming Event:
Who: You and anyone you'd like to bring.
What: Chicago International GWJ Day
When: Sat, Oct 19th from 12p-4p
Where: Pilot Project Brewing (2140 N Milwaukee Ave)
Why: Because Stan likes you
I'm going to the Ball.
I am also going to the ball but am totally up for a S&T at a later date.
We could hit up Geek Bar Beta next month. The official location is supposed to open in December, but we can always just have another S&T when that opens. Any interest in going there? If we go on a Saturday, we can watch Doctor Who. Or Walking Dead on a Sunday. Note: Logan Arcade has Doctor Who Mondays too.
And I hope to see you all at the ball on Monday.
Jumping in for something post-ball. I probably won't make it to that but might be able to make something after.
I live in Chicago now! Unaware of this "ball" until, now and probably certainly not going, but I would be theoretically interested in meeting up depending on a variety of child- and school-related factors.
I'm not going to the ball. Not sure how we missed it but it sounds like fun. I'd probably be able to do a meet up sometime though. I suggest Half Acre only because I want an excuse to go to Half Acre.
This isn't meant to replace a future S&T but do we wanna go see TheWanderer talk about games journalism on Friday?

I'd love to go. I moved here two years ago and keep meaning to meet some of the other Chicago GWJ folks. If we nail down a date and I'm not at work, I might be able to drive in from an hour west of Chicago town-proper.
As long as its not Thanksgiving or Christmas, I'm game.
I'm in. I have a card game sitting on my shelf I've been itching to play, but general bar fun is also perfectly fine with me. I'm around the corner from Half Acre so I like that idea, but any other place garnering votes is a-okay.
This seems like as good a place as any.
Most likely moving back to Chicago in February after leaving spring 2010. Would love to get a meetup together at some point.
Also curious if anyone is interested in board game events or knows of local ones. Southern California has spoiled me on large stores with room enough for ~50 people (we usually get ~20). The shops in Chicago that I have been able to find seem tiny in comparison.
Dice Dojo expanded since you left and a have large gaming room. Cat And Mouse has a second location. Not sure how big it is, though. Geek Bar is currently at a pop-up until their official location opens up but I bet that'll have you covered.

I'm in the NW burbs but Games Plus in Mt. Prospect has boardgaming every Thursday night and all day the first Saturday of the month. There is usually at least 20 people at this and some people come from fairly far away (Saturdays are just packed). Zoltan the guy who is opening up Geek Bar runs a pair of boardgaming meet ups, one in the city and another in the Northern Burbs (although I don't know the status because he's busy opening up the bar). I know that he is also planning more events after the bar opens up.

Oh man, I did not see this in my search, but it looks perfect. I'll likely be in the Ravenswood area, so that place is ~10min drive away. I saw Games Plus and the meetup, so I'll have to check those out.
Then one day I will have a couch perhaps and a coffee table.
I started playing board games again ~Winter 2011, so I never really explored stuff in the Chicago area. Working from home, going to weekly board game events has been my main chance to talk to people in person, so I was a bit bummed to see the options limited, but it looks like I just didn't look hard enough.
Keep warm and maybe I'll see you in a few months.
Hello again, Chicago. Once I'm no longer tired from shuffling, we should figure something out!
Shuffling? Pick up your feet.
We applied for a place in North Center, but with the snow, there are delays in processing the application.
What do we think? Let's do something in March. When all of this damn snow is still...here... le sigh
March might mean I can attend for a few minutes with the little one, at least
Yay!
The power is mine, b*tches!
Wait, if I come people will realize I'm not a duck...

I haven't met the local GWJ crew much since moving to the city, I think I will try to head out and say hello.
