Dying Light

@Rickettsia I will add you to my friends list, but I just started last night and I am only into the 1st 10-15 minutes of game (only killed one zombie thus far), so I want to get a bit more experience in the single player game before I start getting into the co-op stuff.

I pick up this stuff pretty quickly though, read: LFD, LFD2, Dead Island, et al, I love zombie games and enjoyed Mirror's Edge as well.

Looking forward to some co-op soon with my PC brethren!

Edit: I looked up RicardoJ124 in Steam, it says you don't exist.

Weird... that used to work. I sent you a friend request and put my steam profile in my sig.

I'm having fun so far which is about all that matters to me, didn't get a chance to try coop or be the zombie yet.

Same here, I have been having a blast and I'm about 5-6 hours in. I still do not travel at night though, way to terrible outside in the dark.

climbing radio towers is insane. I was white knuckled the whole time. I didn't have any problem with it in Far cry or AC, but here its super stressful.

I will be up for some Co-op Friday night, if anyone wants to join up? I am central time zone and would probably be looking around 8p or so.

Has anyone had issues with the fps dropping in the game? I will be going at 60+, but then drop down to below 30 or even have the entire screen freeze temporarily during climactic events. I am running a brand new GTX 970 gpu.

Just last night in fact, same card. I don't remember it happening before I installed the latest Nvidia drivers.

Hmmm, I of course updated to the latest drivers with a fresh install of my new GPU, so I am wondering if I should drop back to older drivers.

I posted a query in Tech and Help, to see if I can get some ideas.

hunting for Lavender Herbs is the first thing in this game that I haven't found fun. In fact I hate it. lol

Everything I have read about the framerate issues, is related to the fact that the game uses the first core almost exclusively (dumb!). I am going to drop my viewing distance, as per some helpful hints in Tech & Help, to see if I get a discernible difference. I may also be purchasing an aftermarket cpu cooler, with some thermal paste, so I can overclock my cpu some.

The more I'm reading, the more I'm considering picking this up. May pick up Far Cry 4 to put some time between release for a hopefully cheaper price on Amazon, but this is sounding like it might be a pretty good one. The RPS 'wot I think' review sounds pretty good... especially where the biggest negative is that it feels like a lot of elements are borrowed from other games as derivative is not generally a problem for me if it's done well.

Wow, well placed throwing stars are pretty op. Meanwhile if you throw your main weapon it seems to just poof? Or I suck at finding it. Thankfully I experimented with one I wasn't using first.

I haven't tried out the throwing stars yet. Do they just take metal to craft or do they also require blades? If they require blades they should be more powerful since that material isn't as common as plain metal. I'm at work on my phone or I would check. I have been here all day just thinking about playing Dying light.

Has anyone tried this on PS4 or Xbox? I have a fairly strong PC with dual GTX670s but it sounds like it may not muster enough power.

I am playing it on PS4, no performance issues so far.

I am playing on ps4 and it's awesome. I want some goodjers for co-op

Weird that the digital release is concurrent with the rest of the world, but the physical release is delayed by a month. Better than neither being available, but kind of a bummer since I want this for my PS4! I really enjoyed both Dead Island and Riptide, and parkour makes everything better so this is a no braaaaaaaainer for me.

Although I wish they gone with something besides zombies. It doesn't always have to be zombies! There's a whole world full of mythology out there! Make it orcs. Doesn't make sense at all, but who cares?! Orcs are fun to kill too!

Sigh, for all the good things I'm hearing, I totally would if I didn't have student loans to pay this week.

I don't have an issue with the radio towers, but man, night missions with Volatiles chasing you, that is insane. Thank god for the UV flares and the UV flashlight! I need to up my cardio!

I am getting pretty good at the parkour aspects though. I am good at judging the distance, and have been lucky on more than one occasion with leaps of faith.

You know what I keep thinking (especially during the night and parkour-heavy missions)? This thing would be incredible on an Oculus.

Different sort of insane. The night stuff definitely is crazy, but this game for some reason really conveys a sense of height and danger when climbing things.

It works with Oculus, but if my experience with HL2 tells me anything I would blow chunks within minutes.

I would have to vote no, on the Oculus. I don't have a fear of heights, but I could see it causing me to smack into someone or something IRL.

I think it's pretty damn cool that just last night, when I had my character on the very edge of the building (about 15 floors up), I could hear the wind whip around me and this caused me to almost teeter off, until I moved back to the center of the building.

This game is hitting ALL the right buttons for me, but needs to get it's optimization nailed down so I don't have issues with framerates.

Im very close to buying this, I can see the steam version on Amazon (UK) for £29, as oppose to £39.99 on steam.

Huh, I hadn't considered this. Playing on PS4 should eliminate the motion sickness too, since the screen is so far away. I can't aim worth a damn with a controller though.

It does have code that supports Oculus. The frame rate and barf factor of running around in that game terrifies me.

Just one more reason for me to pick up an Oculus when it's finally out. I haven't used one yet, but I haven't gotten motion sickness from much of anything in my life so I have high hopes!

They already did, it's called Shadow of Mordor!

ToMAYto, toMAHto, just give me the bad guys! I don't care if they have tusks, unhinging mandibles, or are trying to attack me with a spork.
