Well, on the bright side, his stint on Doctor Who isn't leading to typecasting.

Edit: In actuality, though, I wouldn't be surprised if this TV show's toned severely in comparison to the comics, what with Disney calling the shots.

No, it's his stint as Barty Crouch, Jr.

On an interesting note, Fox is mulling an X-Men TV series. Here's what I find interesting:

Fox studio counterpart 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the film franchise (with seven features already released based on X-Men characters). While conversations to bring the franchise to the small screen are under way, sources indicate a deal is far from complete with Marvel — which owns the comic rights — still having to sign off on the deal. The comic book powerhouse is based at Disney, with ABC shows including Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter on the network and five upcoming straight-to-series programs in the works there. Marvel would have to sign off on the deal.

So Fox's rights to the X-Men only extend to movies? Does the same deal apply to Sony and Spider-Man? We've been getting into odd territory with a version of Quicksilver in the last X-Men movie and one in Age of Ultron. Also recall that Peter Parker and Jean Grey fit into the backstory of the aforementioned Jessica Jones. Could raise some interesting possibilities.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fox and Disney/Marvel each had veto authority on live action television properties involving the X-Men characters.

Like I said, they're getting into gray areas with these deals. And then there's animated shows/movies and video games. Who has control over all that?

My impression is that nobody has exclusive rights on either of these fronts. In games, you've got a myriad of studios that have full access to all of the teams (Marvel Heroes, Marvel Puzzle Quest, that new mobile fighting game, classics like Marvel vs Capcom, etc), as well as a few specific character properties (whatever that mobile Spider-Man endless runner is), and a few instances of licenses not being renewed (that Deadpool game about a year back). In TV you have shows that generally stick to one team, but seem to borrow from all over while also running concurrently with other titles that may use the same characters, so Wolverine & The X-Men and Avengers Earths Mightiest Whatsits were both running at the same time as the Super Hero Squad show, which used characters from both.
Exclusivity seems to be a film specific thing.

Another fun rights wrinkle: Disney can only use Marvel characters in theme parks west of the Mississippi, because Universal owns the rights to use them in theme parks in the east. These rights supposedly only last as long as the Marvel Super Hero Island at Islands of Adventures is "well-maintained".

Marvel is also allowed to look at the books for Islands of Adventure under the terms of the deal, which means Disney is now allowed to get private financial information for Islands of Adventure, their top competitor in theme parks in Orlando.

It's also weird to see both Disney and Universal stores at the airport pushing Marvel stuff.

Huh, I could have sworn I read somewhere that Universal was going to have to give that up at some point and Disney already had some plans on where to expand that in Disneyland. I mean, the Marvel section was really cool at Universal, even if the picture of me and Doctor Doom trying to fight while I was wearing my Captain America t-shirt didn't quite pan out... but it also just felt... I dunno, kind of flat to me. Trying to make everything look like it just popped out of a comic book was just so bizarre... especially after they already did that in their "cartoon strips that no one under the age of 50 remembers all that well" section.

Found an article about the situation: http://www.orlandoinformer.com/2014/...

Disney can indeed put Marvel stuff in Disneyland, since it's west of the Mississippi and not covered by Universal's deal. It's Disney World in Florida where they're not allowed to have Marvel stuff inside the theme parks, although they're apparently allowed to have it outside the parks (and as the article points out, Disney's team of lawyers are finding any loophole they can to put Marvel in the parks anyway).

I've always enjoyed Marvel at Universal mostly for the Spider Man ride and the Hulk coaster, but of course being a Disney loyalist I'd rather have it at Disney. I'm looking forward to see if they have anything neat in mind for Disneyland (or probably California Adventure).

Would be nice to see something more permanent and substantial at Disneyland than the exhibits they've hosted in Innoventions for some of the films.

I think the main issue here is that they've just come off finishing a billion-dollar expansion for California Adventure. They're apparently also unsure of where to put it still, because there is less room in general at Disneyland. DCA's lame Hollywood expansion is the most sensible in my mind, but no one asks me :p

I hear Adventures in Measle-land's kind of popular.

Yep, both of those rides are great. Went 3 years ago or so, right after we moved to Florida.

She's only in the show because she doesn't want to be fined.

Now that you mention it, Krysten Ritter kind of bears a passing resemblance to Katy Perry.

I'm completely lost here; who's Hellcat? Why is Katy Perry there only so she won't get fined? Why would she get fined?

Hellcat is one of the Defenders, which they are leading up to in the Netflix series. Leading with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage (Powerman), and Iron Fist.

Pretty sure Rat Boy posted the wrong link. If he didn't, it's sort of a bizarre non sequitur.
