A Republican has something nice to say about Clinton

Clinton sleeps on floor so elder Bush can have bed

http://cnn.allpolitics.printthis.cli...

"On their tour of tsunami damage in Southeast Asia, former President Bill Clinton once allowed his predecessor, former President George H.W. Bush, to sleep on the plane's only bed while he stretched out on the floor."

That shows a lot of class on Clinton's part. I know Bush Sr. isn't thrilled with Clinton because Clinton said some bad things about his son. But Bush Jr. and Clinton have become good friends.

Bush Sr. probably made him sleep on the floor because he was afraid Clinton would try to put the moves on him.

Oh, that was really mature.

Hehe. I''m nothing if not mature, so I guess I''m nothing.

Really? I had read an article recently detailing that the two ex-presidents have actually become pretty buddy-buddy, much to the surprise of everyone.

Shouldn''t be surprising.

Haven''t we figured out already how the media distorts and sensationalizes the ""rift"" in American politics? They''re both Yale graduates, if memory serves me right. That''s a bond that goes cross-parties.

both Yale grads, but honestly, they are in a pretty select club, membership is at what, 5 living presidents - so its a select club that only they know what each other has been through, so to me, its no surprise at all.

Plus, Clinton''s gotta look at the Bush Jr''s daughters, and be thinking, hey, I''ll get to know the Sr so I can hit the Jr''s twins...

<insert lewd krazytaco comment here>

I think Clinton slept on the floor after losing out to Bush Sr in a mean pillow fight.

In their PJ''s, no less.

I was thinking of the Simpsons were Bush Sr, Clinton, and Carter are painters and pull off the 3 stooges bit.

That is the least thing he could of done, he was probably just trying to improve his image after he ""raped"" our country in the years he was president......of course we don''t consider the damage he did to his home state. I believe every ""publicly"" nice thing he does, has a hidden meaning. I really don''t trust the guy...

By ""raped"" do you mean ""oversaw an unprecedented surplus""?

Nice av by the way.

(ok I watched Mad Max Sunday night give me a break)

There can be only one.

Are you referring to the minimum of 33 foreign campaigns that Clinton involved our military forces? That is a surplur compared to the eight foreign campaigns that are military forces engaged in between the years 1946 to 1991.

btw, I only wish my av was holding a beer mug!!!

Let''s see...

Korean War, Vietnam War, Dominican Republic, Eagle Claw (defense of Kuwaiti oil tankers in Gulf), Lebanon, Grenada, Gulf of Sidra operations (twice), Praying Mantis (retaliatory attacks on Iranian sites in the Gulf), Honduras, Panama. Somewhere in there is the war in Central America, which has still not been fully declassified, and paramilitary involvement in places like Afghanistan, as well as a number of embassy rescues and of course Desert One. That''s at least 13 (Libyan stuff was in 81 and 89, and since they involved a territorial dispute over the Gulf of Sidra, they were both operations). This does not include covert US involvement in Iran, Guatemala, Laos, Cambodia, Chile, and the Contras, nor does it include coups we helped sponsor (including one in Iraq that put Saddam in power) during the period. It also leaves out the War on Drugs, which continues today and involves the US military.

Please list the ""33 foreign campaigns"" that Clinton got us into. I have the following to start -
Iraqi no-fly zone (continued from Bush), Provide Comfort (Kurdish protection), Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia/Herzegovina, missile attacks on Sudan and Afghanistan, and Kosovo. That''s, um, 8, nowhere near 33. I''m sure you''ll be happy to add the missing 25, and explain to me which of the earlier ones are somehow irrelevant.

That is the least thing he could of done, he was probably just trying to improve his image after he ""raped"" our country in the years he was president......of course we don''t consider the damage he did to his home state. Wow. That''s...quite....an entry to the forums.

Even Pigpen didn''t launch his P&C career like that!

I believe this will help to somewhat answer your questions...

Macedonia, Ecuador, East Timor, Liberia, Albania, Congo, Gabon, Sierre Leone and Sudan.

If I repeated any that you listed, my apologizes.

I am a true believe in our Armed Forces and it saddens me to see someone reduce it in size and moral. I just don''t feel like he truely understood how great the men and women are that serve and what scarcifies they make so we can enjoy the great freedoms we have as Americans. He stretched it so thin at one point that around 20,000 enlisted were eligible for food stamps.

I don''t always believe what I read but I do believe in what I see.....

The last sentence of the linked article: ""Bush said he and Clinton are not close, but have been compatible on the tour, partly because Clinton respects his age.""

Southerners unite - where''s JMJ and we have a triumverate...woo hoo

Here''s some more campaigns

The War to eliminate stains on Lewinskia
The War of the Roses (numerous troops had to be pulled in to keep Hillary from de-balling the POTUS - its true )
The Campaign to Free Willy
The Rosewater Conflict
The Disinformation Campaign of 92-97 (the winter of 96 was brutal to the troops)
The Alliance for Throwing Momma from the Train
Gallipoli
The War of 1812 (hey, just sounded good on the last two!)

there you have it

The surplus wasn''t unprecedented. The surplus that was projected was and it wasn''t real. It was only real using enronomics. The problem with the GAO is that they forcast using current economic growth and we cannot really see more than a few years in the future.

I don''t think Bush should have sold the tax cuts on the idea of a 10 year surplus. The surpluses died up once the economic growth stopped.

Don''t forget the ""tactical Vince Foster wet ops"" mission.

No, I don''t think that Vince Foster was secretly killed by the government, but you''re all on a roll, so I figured I''d pitch in.

We all know that President Clinton was working with the grays (aliens) on that issue.

You are counting non-combat deployments? I was looking only at combat-related. Look, if you''re going to be specific - 8 versus 33 - have the list to back it up. Otherwise you''re just waving hands.

Which of the operations disrespected or disadvantaged the military? And what has Bush done to take those folks off of food stamps? Not too much, from what I can see. Certainly, Bush''s combat deployments dwarf those of Clinton in size, effect and duration, as well as wear and tear on the military. So if Clinton is a problem for sending the troops out, surely Bush is far worse? He can''t even bring himself to attend military funerals. Some guy, huh?

I guess I don''t get the point.

I can understand you don''t like Clinton, that''s fine. But don''t dump figures on us without, well, actually having the figures.

I know what your point is but President Bush has met with the families of dead soldiers.

So what about the other questions he asked? Or will you just leave those wide open and pretend that never happened?

What questions, I don''t see any questions. La la la la la.

Hey I thought we were making exaggerated claims here. I was just trying to get in on the act.
