I'm hoping we can use this thread to discuss our experiences with the game so that when we decide to start the league we will already have the settings agreed upon.
After playing a few games on Pro and some on All-Star, I am leaning towards using Pro. The difference in fielding and pitching seems negilgible, but in hitting it seems to be pretty great. All-Star seems to make hitting much harder. I'm worried that as most of us are going to be casual players, this will take a lot of the fun out of the game. Now, I like to pitch, I like duels and low scoring games. But I don't like frustration, so I'd eschew the low scoring affairs in favor of a more fun game experience. My only opponent thus far the Certis seems to agree. I will be playing on both settings some more, but this is how I feel thus far.
So you all know, in a non-official game you can change difficulty mid-game, so you can compare back and forth.
Was looking for you for a game last night Swamp - got whipped by Grumps in football instead. I played Certis and see the point - we each actually had about 9 hits over 12 innings, but with both of us as novices, we tossed 11 shut out innings (and it would have been 12 if not for his ''oops'')
I vote for Pro up front (not that I know how to change the settings...lol) because I prefer the fun aspect (although my pitching is a helluva lot better than hitting - although Andrew Jones nailed a 495 foot shot down the line last night off of the Cubs main pitcher! Sweeeeeet!)
Cya in a game soon I hope!
I''d love to join the discussion. But I still can''t find the farking game anywhere.
I''m all for fair play. Whatever settings give a level playing field for everyone, no matter wich team you pick.
I was looking for a game a few nights ago as well. Certis and Swampy were the only ones playing and apparently they were playing each other so I played Green a game of hockey instead. Once I''m able to play a few games online I''ll give you my recommends.
psycho, I think I have you on xfire - if so, and you want a game, holler if you see me online (I think I''m scorpionfct on xfire)
I think a good idea would be to start doing some research on slider settings and the like. The difference between all-star and pro is really just a long line of AI and setting tweaks. If we could find a good balance I think we''d be on the right track.
Not me Swampy, I''m above that...
Swamp, take care of that project and tell me when its done - don''t need to know what you did, just the final results
HAHAHHAHAAAHHAHAHHA HA!!! ha.
I''ve found the damn game, and I bought it!

ANOTHER game for Swampy and I to beat you at!
Pro seems to be a good setting for the casual gamer. I usually play on all star against the cpu. The games I''ve played on live have been on pro I think. The hitting is so much easier than all star I''ve beaten some folks 19-5. But against a savvy pitcher I think the hitting would still be difficult (damn that filthy forkball). Still, I''d have to vote for all-star.
I do think that fielder speed needs to be increased or baserunners need to slow down a bit. On the default settings its too easy to throw someone out a first from deep in the hole at third. Statistically slow runners are also getting a few too many three-baggers on shots to the gaps. Definitely needs some tweaking there. I dont know if turning off that ""mash the A button"" running affects the cpu.
Now, I like to pitch
Dudes. Must I do *all* the comedy work around here?
I can play the game however you all want. Yeah.
I don''t like the mash the A button...kinda a pain. And Squirrel, when do you want to face my pitching...hell, I just got into smoltz last night and struck out like 16 in the game...
You won''t be getting 15 runs my friend...:-)

Ooo, Its GO time my friend . I can play tonight, I''ll be on sometime this weekend for sure, gamertag: squirrelmonkey. I''ll take any team but the Sox of Red.
[edit] Oh, yeah, and I agree about the A button. Feels to much like Epyx Track and Field.
trying to add you squirrel on xfire now...you around?
Mr.Green and I just played a game on Pro, I found it to be more enjoyable than All-Star for sure. I think we might want to do a few slider tweaks but I think Pro as a base is a good idea.
It cut us off before I could ask, what did you think of the game Green?
Anybody want to play a baseball game right now?
I''ll be on in justa bit. My son wanted to play and we are playing a 5 inning game. In the third now
It is hard to pick up on the infield. I don''t know why they didn''t just make it red.
Thanks for the game Swampy. Great fun.
EDITS: Just noticed my spelling errors. I hate that.

It made a great first impression on me, but I''ll have to play some more. I''m pretty sure the league will be tons of fun.
Geez, another game I have to beat Mr. Green in.
Seriously, I can''t wait for this league to start. Hell I almost want to say screw football (sorry Grumpicus)and let''s play two.
I want the setting that says ""Spy''s a batting incompetent boob and here is some help for him"" (Like a bat in the shape of a tennis racquet. If I cant get that - Pro looks good in my limited play.
