Pickup game of NFL2k5 anyone?

I know most of you have jobs that require your attention for the entire first 75% of your day, but I just thought I'd throw a heads up out there. If anybody is able to/wants to play some football this afternoon or this evening anytime, shoot me a message for a game. I'll likely already be on Live with it practicing anyway.

The only time I'm likely to not be here is for a short time around 5 or so. I'm headed out to pick up my paycheck, and maybe pick up Fight Night Round 2.

I should be home around 330PM EST and can play then if you would like.

Thanks for the game Spy. Sorry it was so frustrating for ya.

At least it was a close game right?

...

Right?

Thanks for the game Spy. Sorry it was so frustrating for ya.

Spy... frustrated?! Quoi??

Seriously though, frustration is so easy when you''re good at something.

Come on, we need a better post-game than that. At least give us the score... and was the frustration related to connection or gameplay issues?

I took the Colts, knowing I still need some practice. Spy went with the Eagles.

He jumped out into the lead with a touchdown fairly early on in the first quarter. My D was making some reasonable plays, but they didn''t seem to be able to stop him from moving up the field anyway.

My first drive ended short, so on fourth down with 5 or 6 or something along those lines to go I kicked a field goal from somewhere around 30 yards out. Don''t remember the exact distance, it''s been too long ago.

This is the point where my memory of the order things happened, and which quarters they happened in gets hazy. I''m pretty sure the first quarter ended right after my field goal. What I can''t remember is the order things happened in after that. I know at some point I scored a touchdown making the game 10-7. I can''t remember if it was before halftime or not. He answered back fairly quickly with another touchdown, making it 14-10. I had another drive that ended short, forcing me to kick another field goal for 3, making the game 14-13 in Spy''s favor.

The last quarter I remember well. Spy started a drive with four minutes and something left that ended with (I think) a touchdown pass from fairly long range to Owens. So with 2:30-something left on the clock, I began slowly, ever so slowly marching down the field. There were some fairly outrageous catches involved, including one from (again, I think) 3rd and 10 to Harrison in triple coverage. The drive ended with a touchdown pass to Harrison with 35 seconds left. Spy threw an interception shortly after that, and I ran down the clock.

I know I skipped a couple of drives somewhere in the middle of the game, one of them was a drive of Spy''s ending with an interception by Mike Doss. What I can''t remember is if I ended up punting after that, or if that was the drive that ended with my second field goal.

I remember all the events of the game, but they''re all jumbled!

Spy''s frustration was rooted mostly in the gameplay. His receivers were dropping passes, and in some cases they were of course passes that really should not have been dropped. I managed to call the right play, and/or audible a few times to stop the run. That turned out to be a fairly important piece of the game. Quite a few of my first downs were due to James'' running ability. But for everytime my run plays worked, someone on Spy''s team would screw up something and Westbrook would get stopped.

The biggest error on the part of the eagles defense actually occured on the play that got me my last touchdown to win the game. One of the eagles defenders had some kind of serious tunnel-vision going on, and he completely ignored Edgerrin James running right past him. He didn''t even attempt a tackle. It was something that Spy couldn''t control, the AI just didn''t go after him. It was running in the right direction, but made no effort to hit him.

Also, my last touchdown pass was made cross-body while running full tilt towards the side of the field, and I made the throw with a defender or two just a few short feet away. I think Manning getting away with that kind was kind of silly, as Spy was definitely getting punished everytime he made even the slightest mistake with McNabb.

I''m definitely missing something here.

I had another drive that ended short, forcing me to kick another field goal for 3, making the game 14-13 in Spy''s favor.

Ok, 14-13...

Spy started a drive with four minutes and something left that ended with (I think) a touchdown pass from fairly long range to Owens.

21-13...

So with 2:30-something left on the clock, I began slowly, ever so slowly marching down the field. ... The drive ended with a touchdown pass to Harrison with 35 seconds left.

21-20...

Spy threw an interception shortly after that, and I ran down the clock.

Huh?

My memory SUCKS.

I''m on Live right now and it''s showing my last game as a win, 24-21.

I could have sworn I got two field goals, but I think perhaps one of the kick''s I''m remembering was a punt after one of the drives I don''t remember. I think perhaps this is the likely progression:

1st Quarter
Spy: touchdown, 7-0
Me: Field goal, 7-3

2nd Quarter
Spy: Touchdown, 14-3
Me: touchdown, 14-10

3rd Quarter
Me: touchdown, 14-17

4th Quarter
Spy: Touchdown, 21-17
Me: touchdown, 21-24

I''m almost 100% positive that''s the way it worked out.

What you have to understand is that I started playing the game at 9 this morning, and was still playing when Spy and I started our game at 3:30. The games are starting to jumble together.

Yes, this post really did go through 6 previous versions before I finally got my memory straight.

It was a great game and Thin played superior ball. The Peyton at a full run left and throwing completely cross body 40yds downfield kind of sealed the game for me. I made some I need to throw and force it in mistakes and frankly I didnt play well, but TO (99 rating) was getting handled by a 70''ish back and I could have run better than Westbrook did. It almost seems like I am getting worse the longer I play and the wide open dropped passes make me want to fling my controller out a moving car and then back over it. Regardless Thin played an awesome game and has come a long way. I have come to the realization that I just suck

Well, Mr. Delhomme and the Panthers have helped Spy avenge his earlier defeat. He beat me.. oddly enough, 24 to 21 due to an interception in the fourth quarter. It was almost like the same game played over again, but in reverse. Good stuff.

I enjoyed our two games today a bit more than I have most of my previous games simply because they were close. It''s always more fun when there''s a little more suspense involved.

Second game was good and you had me beat if we hadnt traded interceptions - I would trade TO for Smith and Muhammad any day with Davis and Foster running for me. All the Panthers need is a good tight end and a better safety and they are rollin''.

Yeah, going to a fairly risky pass play on first down right after an interception with so little time left in the fourth was a terrbile move on my part. Too late to fix it now though. That and the formation you were in would have murdered the running play I had picked

I still want to play again - it was fun and despite my frustration with the mysterious standaround defense at times I had fun both games and funny we played at a harder setting and I didnt have near the dropped passes. Funny because To is better then both my panther receivers and Mcnabb is much higher rated then Delhomme hmmm...

Well lets play again - it was fun although at some point I need to learn me some baseball since I bought it and it still is in the shrinkwrap.

SpyNavy - I''ve got that problem with ESPN Hockey...I bought it, but I''ve never played. I know I''ve got some love comin'' ''my way.

Bah! Now I believe it''s my right to hold a grudge. The ending of that last game was oh so outrageous!

That''s what I get for not double-covering TO though. I considered it, but I was afraid you''d just put it up there to someone else if I did. Damn my hesitation!

It was a bit of a doozy - similar to you and Peyton''s unstoppable run left and throw cross body to the right for 50yds at a time :).
