Far Cry 4 Catch-All

Will do.

This game is amazing, but I wish I had purchased it on PS4 instead of PC. It's stuttering and I can't find the right setting. It might even be due to to the fact that I don't have an SSD drive.

DSGamer: Try this: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...!

Edit: Note that the "DisableLoadingMip0" setting will lower texture quality, so maybe try the other one first.

This game is amazing. I didn't really play Far Cry 3. The stealth missions early in the game felt punishing without interesting tools to approach them. Or maybe the game has a better tutorial this time around. Either way I've already spent 4 hours with the game and I love it. I finished the first chapter (I think they're chapters) and have had a lot of fun with the bow and arrow hunting. The wingsuit is terrific, especially as this game has great elevation. Earlier in the week I was playing around with Just Cause 2, trying to play an open world game with some verticality. This is fitting the bill just fine.

The little mini-copter is a great addition too in letting you enjoy exploring the vertical spaces.

Overall I think they struck a great balance of keeping what was working (i.e. most of Far Cry 3) and adding a few gameplay upgrades and a fantastic new setting.

EDIT: DSGamer, I was just thinking about Just Cause 2 while playing with the grappling hook in this game. It made me remember how much I loved the JC2 grapple...

You guys are really making me regret buying Assassin's Creed Unity instead of this.

Far Cry 4 is my first dive into the FC experience and I am loving it. I know its been said before, but I do get a "Skyrim with Guns" feel. My Steam timer says I have spent 10 hours in Kyrat already, but I believe I have only played a few of the story missions. My time has been spent hunting and climbing...hunting and climbing...shooting some guys...and then back to hunting and climbing!

What a beautiful environment to get lost in!

Definitely. Hunting is incredible, especially with the bow.

I really like being able to shoot from the car. Taking out another vehicle with pistol shots while you both hurtle down a road feels like something you should always have been able to do. Now if I could just stop shooting out the windscreen every time I get in a car...

Speaking of hunting - is there a trick to bringing down a rhino?

Most of the crafting projects I have left are the ones that require rhino skins because I just can't bag these monsters. They seem to soak up infinite bullets. I got one by tossing every explosive I had at it, but there's got to be a better way, no?

Rocket launcher?

There's a new patch out that fixes the black and gray screens at startup.

I killed one with C4 and then the game whined at me that the skin wasn't usable for crafting.

I had the same problem when fishing with grenades.

Hah. We need some poison arrows.

I wonder if you could kill one with an elephant.

I have killed a rhino with a combination of grenades and gunfire but I didn't think to try and skin it.

If you have the elephant gun, one shot to the head will do it. Check under specials.

A combination of elephant tramplings/attacks and a few corrective measures from Mr. Shotty will take one down eventually.

An eagle just came down and killed my quest giver mid delivery.

NB If you want to turn off the radio in the vehicles it's up on the D pad.

Is there a solution for the incredibly pitch black shadows? I'm not talking about the SLI bug of pure black. I'm talking about the incredibly overdone HDR that they seem to have put in place. I walk into a shop and can barely see anything.

Co-op is very fun. Capturing fortresses with two low level players is very hard. The bow and stealth were key.

Mess around with the Ambient Occlusion setting. Might fix you up.

HDR is still overdone... Hopefully a patch will fix it. It's tolerable.

Only played about 30 minutes so far. Why are Eagles such assh0les? Man, I'm just minding my business and bam my health is nearly gone. Not cool man!

If this game has taught me anything it's that all wildlife is to be feared and that the solution is to kill all wildlife. When people yell "eagle" and starting shooting guns at eagles it's the best. Who knew?

Animal apocalypse

First solo fortress

In the second film that rifle is sound suppressed even if it doesn't sound like it and at least one of the guards is lacking in the peripheral vision department.

To quote a Steam review, 'Damn nature, you scary!'

Don't know if this was already posted but to skip all the intro movies do the following

Create a desktop shortcut of the game’s .exe file and add -skipintro to the target line after the executable info.

Now if I can just figure out how to get enhanced godrays to not make everything look like I've got my contrast set to high....

I haven't tried the co-op yet, but this game seems like all the right parts of FC2 and FC3 (yes I thoroughly enjoyed 2). Very nice looking game, and the over-the-top action reminds me of the best action movies from the 80's and 90's, villain and all.

I'm on PC, uPlay name is Symbyosys. If I'm not playing Dragon Age, it will be this (I may get back to AC:U eventually)

Crash in Shangri-la plus unskipable cutscenes is getting into rage quit territory for me.

I tried running it first thing in the morning after downloading all night and I received the black screen of not loading then crashing. 10/10 would launch again.

Me too. Bought this on disc for PC (I have a very small download limit on my internet - Yay Australia). Installed via Uplay, installed 3GB patch (using 1/4 of my monthly download quota). The, I get the same as Naterstein, launch, black screen and not responding. The first two patches seems to have done little to help the situation, at least for me. Ubisoft is not really providing much info or timing on when the next patch might come out. Very frustrating.

This is really disappointing, as this was my pick with limited funds for this time of year. I was considering AC Unity, or Dragon Age Inquisition, but gave Far Cry 4 the nod because I really enjoyed 3. Now I just have no game to play.

anth: Have you tried unplugging any unnecessary USB devices?
