Portland, Oregon Meetups

Pages

UPDATE: Given my current living situation, I'm not really up for hosting the bimonthly thing at my apartment anymore. Feel free to use this thread for arranging future Portland meetups!

And sub'ed

I'm penciling you in for Nov 8.

Sounds good!

tuffalobuffalo, I am digging that gif you made walking to your front door.

It has an almost "stalker-esque" quality that you might see in a horror or suspense movie. Back handed compliment, I totally realize this.

;)

Ha! I'm going to have to put a restraining order on this tuffalobuffalo fellow. Wait! I'm tuffalobuffalo? Oh dear.

Would you consider starting earlier, like 1-ish? Starting at 3 ended up being a little tricky with our dog's medication schedule. But if 3 is better for the group, that's cool, too.

That would be just fine with me. If that's okay with everyone else, I'll change the time. It may be better to do it regularly at that time anyways because it'll sorta be in between lunch and dinner. We could make January's meetup the second Saturday because the event I'm going to isn't until 8.

What's everyone else think? Should we default the time from 1-5? 5 pm wouldn't really be a hard cap on the end time.

I think that sounds great, tuffalo.

This is a good idea. Whatever the time is, I'll try and make it.

I updated the OP changing the time from 1-5 and moving January's meetup back to the second Saturday of the month. I think that'll be a good time slot that still allows for people to have morning and evening plans!

I am in Portland often on the weekends so I'll try and make it the weekends I'm in.

Awesome, thanks!

Subscribed as well. Thanks for taking point on this tuffalo! I'm looking forward to finally meeting the local GWJers.

Tekman is going to be down from Washington for the Portland Retro Gaming Expo this weekend. We'll both be there on Sunday. If anyone is going to be there or would like to join us, let me know.

Aw man. I was planning on going, but my wife has to be out of town suddenly, and I'll be with the kids.

Well, I hope you don't feel bad. This is super spur-of-the moment. That would have been a nice coincidence, though.

I'm hoping to pick up a few cheap, weird SNES carts. I went once 5 years ago or so, and they had a ton of vendors.

I had a great time at the retro gaming festival on Sunday with Tekman. It got huge compared to the time I went 5 years ago! I was surprised that they pulled nearly all the arcade cabinets and pinball machines from Ground Kontrol for it AND had a bunch of others (free play on all). Sunday morning is a great time to go if you want to play pinball or arcade machines. I'm sure Saturday was packed, and it was definitely very crowded by the afternoon on Sunday.

Anyways, it's something everyone in Portland should keep in mind for next year.

I found this stash of pictures from the event and thought you would like to see them. I will keep an eye out for this next year, it sounds like fun.

I forgot to mention that those pictures are great! Yeah, that's what it was like there.

Is anyone going to be able to make it this Saturday? Tekman is coming down from Washington, so that's two so far. We'll be around all day on Saturday, so people could come any time they want to. The time to shoot for will be 1-5, though. If you want to come earlier, let me know so that I can make sure we're not out grabbing lunch.

Tekman's going to bring a couple extra 360 controllers so that we can do four player Jamestown. I'll probably check to see if there are a couple more cheap coop shmups on Steam.

I'll be out of town this weekend unfortunately.

I'm out of town this weekend too.

I will be there!

I'll be there too. I have wired and wireless 360 controllers if we need another one.

Great! That makes at least 4 of us, so we can get in a couple good board games and play some four player Jamestown. We're good on 360 controllers, but we could still use PS4 controllers for Towerfall. I only have two.

There's a greater than 80% chance I'll be there with my PS4 controller, and a couple of short board and/or card games in tow. Fingers crossed:)

Nice! I know this calendar shotgun approach will work at some point for you.

80%? Well as Sir Patrick had said:

Only joking!

hah!

Well poo, looking doubtful for me now. Some family obligations popped up last minute.

Well, there will be plenty of meetups next year.
