Legend of Grimrock II

Holy crap! I wasn't even aware they were making a sequel and only just stumbled on it after seeing this week's game release schedule. Loved the first one. Definitely going to pick it up. It's like Christmas in October!

Rock Paper Shotgun just posted a Wot I Think and call it a much better game then the first, Link. And with that I preordered to save a few bucks.

I pre-ordered it yesterday and was going to cross my fingers that it was good. With that review I'm stoked!

Every review of this game is glowing.

Also noticed this note on indie retro's review

There's one new character class worth mentioning and that is the farmer. This is one hilarious class and it changes the whole dynamics of the game. As a farmer you don't gain much experience by killing monsters but instead from eating food. It says in the class description that you will be able to dig ditches for irrigation and grow pitplants to eat, but I never played as a farmer long enough to find out if that is indeed true. Early on you will find a shovel, which can be used for digging up treasures, and perhaps ditches? Other than that you need to gather food off monsters you kill or whatever you can find lying around. One of these days I'll be creating four farmers and go on a crazy farming spree!

Yay!

Yep Yep Yep Hurry up and be tommorrow!

(Although I worry that with this and Borderlands TPS I'm not sure when I'm going to get this homework I need to do finished :O ...truly I have reverted to full-student mode! )

I don't understand that farmer class, but I'll put one in my back row, why not.

I imagine I'll do a 2x warrior, 2x mage first run on normal and then do an hard run with an 'interesting' party

It's a hobbit.

They should at least be more adept at earning gold...

6pm over here. So annoying.... Probably going to boot up the first one in the meantime. I never played the steam version so I have achievements to unlock anyway

IT'S ALIVE!!!!

Wooo. Just time to grab a coffee before it finishes downloading

Game seems to completely ignore AA settings. Even when forced it's not taking it.

Oh and there's this...

OK I started the game in normal iron man mode, and then it crashed on me. But that may have been because I alt-tabbed out during the loading screen to write this post.

Woah.

Spoiler:

Was NOT prepared for the Viper Roots 0_0

Let's hope the power never goes out while you're playing. I'd hate to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth as it goes out two steps before a save point

Especially since I started over and bumped it up to hard mode on iron man.

Gedosato allows you to force SMAA for anyone that is interested. Makes a big difference (to me at least)

Ohh and F5 is quick save. Undocumented feature.

Downloading!

When you choose the game difficulty it lets you select whether quick save and quick load are allowed and in the key controls menu F5 and F6 are listed for those controls

completely missed it.

so yeah... Things left laying around on pedestals sometimes have their own security system....

Enjoying this a lot. i'm so terrible though, i had to be hinted through the first two puzzles. I'm back in gear now though!

Yeah, if you've played any previous game of this genre then the puzzle style will make sense, still took me way too long to figure out the X-marks the spot puzzle at the start.

I wish there was a count of how many secrets you'd found in an area as per the previous game

Oh man I really want this, but my backlog just can't take any more. Absolutley loved the first game. The more I read about how great this one is, the harder it's getting to resist. Please, someone post negative impressions!
