I needed 1.5 lbs/week to hit my goal and I managed 1.4. I'm pretty pleased with that. Have a wedding on Friday and my one year anniversary on Sunday. Hopefully things don't go too far off the rails.

Well bummer!

Height: 6'1" Start: 11/30/2012 | 245 lbs | 32.3 BMI | ~35% fat Previous: 09/08/2014 | 178.2 lbs | 23.5 BMI | ~16.1% fat Current: 10/02/2014 | 178.3 lbs | 23.5 BMI | ~15.8% fat Goal: 12/01/2014 | 170 lbs | 22.4 BMI | ~14% fat

That's nearly a whole month with no loss! Oy. Pushing the goal back to December...

Getting through the winter months is usually a little rougher, with all the holiday foods and colder weather making it harder for outdoor activities.

I was thinking that once I hit my goal, rather than having another weight based goal, I should do something more health/fitness based, however Chicago winters are not the best time to start fitness.

There is a mediocre $10/month gym less than a mile from my house, but I hate to go to those places that are 40% treadmills, 40% stationary bikes, 15% weight machines, 4% unused class area and 1% free weights.

I feel ya.

We have a small workout facility in my apartment complex, that is going to be updated/expanded in the next few months. Hopefully that will give me a bit more incentive to give it a chance.

All weights in pounds (lbs). Because Murica!!!

Starting Weight: 455
Last Week's Weight: 333
Current Weight: 333
10% Goal Weight: 300
Total Goal Weight: 180
Change: 0

Back to the plateau. Anyone have any tips? You know, other than just being better?

Starting Weight (12/28/13): 295
Previous Weight(10/1/14): 231.0
Current Weight (10/8/14): 231.0
Target Weight (10/28/14): 225

A stagnant week. Considering the wedding Friday and anniversary Sunday, I'm pretty happy to be flat rather than gaining.

Two options:
1: Change nothing, accept that plateaus happen and work through the plateau.
2: Change something and see if that helps.

I realize that's advice so fuzzy it's next to useless. What are your options for "being better?"

I found when I hit plateaus, I had two choices in regards to cardio exercise, 1) Keep doing what I was doing, but longer (i.e. 1.5 hours from 1 hour on treadmill, etc...) or 2) Do the same time, but harder (run instead of walk). Then I was able to up the intensity to the point where I run about 30 minutes a day, but I'm doing over 3 miles. I still take walk breaks too. I know a lot of people say they cannot run, or it's boring, but that personal sense of accomplish when you run a solid mile for the first time since junior high (or your entire life, for that matter) is unbeatable. If you push yourself a little more, you'll find you're full of surprises and can keep going.

Forgot to post last week.

Starting Weight: 270 lbs (08/25/2012)
Current Weight: 184.5 lbs (10/12/2014)
Short Term Goal: 180 lbs by (10/25/2014)

Starting Weight: 311 (7/8/2013)
Previous Weight: 195.4 (9/26/2014)
Current Weight: 192.8 (10/10/2014)
Body Fat: 17.9%
Target Weight: 190

Forgot to post as well (except two weeks for me...). Getting closer, but I sure ate poorly this weekend. At least I've got 5 days to course correct.

Previous Weight(10/8/14): 231.0
Current Weight (10/14/14): 226.0
Target Weight (10/28/14): 225

I had a series of good to decent choices this weekend. I had a business trip Sunday and Monday where I didn't eat much and made better choices when I did (I went with the grilled chicken salad instead of the delicious looking flatbread pizza).

I decided to move my weigh-in up a day. My goal falls on a Tuesday (when I leave for vacation), so I feel justified in moving it up because of an awesome unofficial weigh-in.
5 pounds! I am 1 pound away from my goal. ONE POUND!!1!eleven!

Awesome! You got this.

Yeah let's see if we can turn this baby around:

Height: 6'1" Start: 11/15/2012 | 250 lbs | 33 BMI | ~36% fat Previous: 10/02/2014 | 178.3 lbs | 23.5 BMI | ~15.8% fat Current: 10/14/2014 | 176.1 lbs | 23.2 BMI | ~15% fat Goal: 12/01/2014 | 170 lbs | 22.4 BMI | ~14% fat

Back on track, woot.

Funny thing: I needed a new suit cause my old ones were certainly too big. I found out that very few off-the-shelf suits are sold in my current size (38L) since the tall/skinny body type isn't very popular. I had to go up a size to 40L and it's a bit loose. 40L is what I wore when I was in college so it's a pretty big milestone to get back there.

Seems I should focus more on upper body muscle mass so I can avoid needing tailored suits

I'm wondering if it's time to create a proper weight loss and maintenance catch-all? This thread is getting really stale. I just checked a calendar and it turns out that it hasn't been 2011 for years now.

I'm not sure whether there's too much overlap with the fitness catch-all, though...

I'd support that, it seems like we have two threads with overlap that can be combined.

I think this one tends to more healthy eating and weight, with a little bit of fitness. While there's some overlap, it's not a lot. The fitness catch-all can get pretty in-depth and a bit beyond what I look for. I'm not terribly interested in kettle bell swings

I say make a new catch-all.

Make a note of it on this thread though. I wanna know where to go when you make a new thread.

OK, here it is!
