WoW 5.0 - Mists of Pandaria

My other favorite mods are ArkInventory (merges all your bags into one window but allows you to group items by function pretty cleanly, as a side feature you can see the state other toons' inventory was in when you last logged on as well), IceHUD (provides a set of simple bars in the middle of the UI for health/mana, target health/mana, etc.), and WeakAuras (a replacement for PowerAuras, allows customization of notifications for cooldowns, procs, etc.). I've got a few others I run with (such as Bazooka and a bunch of plugins for it), but those three (along with DBM) are pretty much required for me. Still trying to find a debuff tracker I really like, though I only really use it for my Affliction Warlock. I could probably create what I want with WeakAuras; just haven't spent the time. Started using Affdots lately though; it'll probably tide me over until everything changes function with the expansion.

I'm thinking of pausing my paladin at 85-86 until 6.0 drops - I've heard that the xp curve will be more super fast like current Cata in 6.0 - and try to get my 36 hunter to 60 for the boost to 90.

Am I doing something wrong cause the super fast leveling I keep hearing about doesn't feel that fast. I've hit my mid 40s and it's now taking me over an hour to level. When I started I kept hearing that leveling is crazy fast and that it should take 2-3 days max playtime to reach 90. At this pace though I don't see how I can make it to max level before launch. Are heirlooms that big of a boost? Unfortunately I can't afford them as I started on a new server.

with heirlooms I was around 45-50% increase in xp. They can now be emailed cross server.

Just email to charactername-realmname and they'll go. Since they're account bound you don't have to worry about sending them to the wrong person.

Edit:

I leveled up a warrior and right now time played is at 2 days and 8 hours.

Took me about 5 days played without heirlooms. Wasn't super fast, but definitely faster than it used to be.

Yes, heirlooms can travel between servers and factions as long as your toons are on the same account. And, yes, they make a big difference, especially when you have a bunch.

One thing could help this week: Darkmoon Faire is up. You can get a 10 percent XP buff that's renewable every hour. (It's not a daily, in other words.)

P.S. If you're taking an hour to level, I think you're OK. 90 levels x 1 hour each = about 4 days /played.

Go get that 10 percent buff!

Make sure you're in a high level guild, too. Guild perks increase your XP gain.

I don't think I'm going to be able to hit 90 before next Tuesday. Also, I'm sad that I missed out on Coren Direbrew.

I'm really enjoying Pandaria, though.

As a leveling and questing experience, Pandaria is right up there with Wrath of the Lich King for me. And unlike Wrath, Pandaria was much more consistent thematically and in content (IMO). There were zones in Wrath that I simply didn't enjoy questing through (Sholazar, while a beautiful zone, was a chore to slog through for me story-wise; Borean Tundra and Storm Peaks were very hit-or-miss) but there was only one region in Pandaria that was iffy for me as a questing experience (the Dread Wastes, as the Mantids were just too weird for me to really ever click with).

Doesn't matter. You've got another month (till Nov. 13) to hit max, grab some Timeless Isle gear and fart around until the expansion comes out. Hell, you could even get full raid gear if you get lucky on some SoO rolls.

The patch that (probably) comes out next Tuesday will change a lot of the gameplay and mechanics. The 10th anniversary content (Molten Core, Southshore battle, etc.) doesn't come out until Nov. 21.

You'll be fine, Ducki. Just get your @ss to 90!

I am sooooooo tempted to resub but I wouldnt even know where to begin playing again.

If you preorder WoD, you can start at lvl 90.

<--- WoW enabler

(me, personally, I'd explore the hell out of stuff and do the Pandaland quests.)

I have zero intent to preorder, and warping to 90 seems like poo. I am more a journey > destination sort of guy. I make way more alts than play end game content.

Begin at the beginning, and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

I recently started again (haven't been a subscriber since 2009) and am starting with a newbie. Pandarans are a pretty cool race, and monks are a fun class.... so I'd recommend hopping into that, and just relearning everything from the gound up.

I redubbed 5-6 weeks ago.
It took about four hours of reading tool tips and gchat to get my hot bars in a state where I could face smash my way in battle - go paladins!
I probably also spent about the same amount of time logging between all my alts and figuring out inventories, banks, personal guild bank, etc, but that is partly silly attachment to ulduar raid tank gear from when I quit back in WotLK, and partly just the mess of my inscription and jewel crafting businesses. Now I have two or three bank tabs of herbs - mostly ice thorn - a full tab of crappy gems from prospecting saronite, a full tab or two of inscriptions, and a ton of pigment and ink.

Bleh. I'll try to unload when 6.0 drops, but I looks like there will be ways to skip past that for levelling professions. Bleh.

Anyway, the content in Cataclysm is really fun, and Pandaria is stunning and fun and humorous. It was absolutely worth the eight or so hours I spent getting back up to speed.

The quests and stories and zones are really, really good between Lich King and now.

I am on the fence between dropping 15 to resub this for a bit or playing some free to play swtor. I don't expect to be sticking around more than a month, just want some mmo fun. Rebels has me wanting some star wars content, but wow is a better game

Destiny's been giving you the MMO itch too eh?

I actually resubbed for about a month before I actually did anything. I had 5 90s before I had quit last time + a brand new one for ordering WoD so I was overwhelemed and never wanted to invest the time to figure out where to start.

I've been tempted to try SWTOR again, but every time I reinstall it something about the F2P model they have rubs me the wrong way and makes me uninstall.

Can I get a Blackhamd guild invite? Trying to level Carlos to 60 for the professions boost, thanks!

PST any of the GWJ members you see on. Most of the regulars can send invites.

Redirecting the conversation from here ...

Congrats to Bad Ken, for filling an entire server with 90s from all 11 classes.

If you add up my toons from both factions and three servers, I went 8 for 11 (all but mage, rogue and druid). I noodled around with a mage and a rogue this time, but haven't touched a druid since Wrath sometime. I don't know why. It's a fun class.

Thanks, and now that I have them all kitted out in Timeless Isle gear, it might be time for me to try a raid or two.

Hit 88 tonight and co-killed a rare mantis guy with a hordie. I was down to about 2% health, had to bubble, run away, eat food, didn't have enough manager for lay on hands, came back, lots of circle strafing, etc. Got a purple and a blue, neither of which were upgrades. But finally almost died. So fun!

Grats on 88! You'll hit 90 well before the expansion and maybe before the patch if you crush it this weekend.

Character is in Hearthstone too, comes in tutorial

Actual semi-topical spam. That's amazing.
