NFL 2014: Week 4

Blake Bortles (22) also started his first game, and his 29-for-37 (78.4%) day at San Diego was the most accurate quarterback debut in NFL history.

Can't blame the refs since the offense was so woeful all game long... but that loss just felt bad. Still not impressed with the Niners though....

I barely post in here because I'm a filthy casual in regards to football knowledge, but yes, this loss felt sore. My roommate and I both anticipated Eagles losing this game, but seeing that they were actually so close to victory makes it hurt. They lifted me up just so they could drop me down the stairs.

Still, 3-1 with the last one almost being a win is better than I was expecting, and overall I'm anticipating a good season for the Eagles.

Panthers wax the Bucs in Week 1.

Steelers crush the Panthers in Week 3.

Bucs Ravens beat the Panthers in Week 4.

I think I need a drink.

Updated because I can't apparently tell the different between the Bucs and Ravens.

How 'bout that NFC South!

If the Eagles can manage to field even a half healthy offensive line they can get back to what they did last season, but right now almost their entire starting OL is injured, which is why you're seeing Shady go nowhere on his runs. Kind of hard to get positive yardage when people are tackling you as soon as you are handed the ball.

8-8 the dream!

Also, the 49ers run defense has been pretty excellent. Matt Forte had almost the exact same day Shady did two weeks ago - 12 carries, 21 yards. Andre Ellington couldn't do much either, 18 carries, 62 yards.

One thing in SF that is still intact is the run D. Only back to move against them has been DeMarco Murray, and the way he and the Cowboys line is playing, I don't know if many defenses are going to stop him.

I'm hoping that by time most other teams have injured starts, the Eagles will have most of theirs recovered and will excel. Just a hope, though.

So much for it being a good division, right? Atlanta and NO have utterly abysmal defenses, you can't trust Carolina's secondary or offensive line, and Tampa is likely going to suffer again from Lovie's Josh McCown fetish again before too long.

Tonight's Monday Night game will be at the scene of Jovan Belcher's suicide. Today, the KC Star released this information about Belcher.

A post-mortem analysis of Jovan Belcher’s brain found the 25-year-old football player was likely suffering from a degenerative brain disease.

The news, first reported by The Star, is a potentially game-changing development at the intersection of two of the NFL’s biggest threats — head injuries and domestic violence.

Belcher was a starting linebacker for the Chiefs who shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, then himself on Dec. 1, 2012. CTE is a degenerative disease found to cause dementia, aggression, confusion and depression among people who’ve suffered repeated head trauma, including football players.

The analysis was performed in New York at the request of lawyers representing the interests of Zoey Belcher, the daughter of Jovan Belcher and Perkins. The results can be used in ongoing litigation, both against the Chiefs and NFL. The Chiefs declined comment. The NFL did not immediately respond.

The NFL's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year continues.

It was impressive last year seeing what he could get out of defensive linemen they picked up off the streets. I was hopeful when they pegged him to take over. Its not like our defense could be worse than last year.

Plus it helps that the running game can keep them off the field.

Investigators say Dwyer broke his wife's nose with a head-butt during a July 21 argument and engaged in a dispute the following day in which he punched his wife and threw a shoe at his then-17-month-old son, who wasn't injured.

Did someone already post this? If so whoops...

I don't know who this New England homer is announcing the game, but he seriously needs to shut up. Super annoying.

24-0 KC.

What is happening?

Both of the NE lines are getting eaten alive. And Brady is just horrible. Not sure why they aren't trying any no-huddle to get some rhythm, but at this point it's probably over anyway.

*edit* I almost forgot.

EJ Manuel benched for Kyle Orton.

The look of sad resignation on the face of the Dark Lord is priceless.

I was just about to say the only thing that could stop them would be a turnover in the end zone...

EDIT: Looks like it wasn't.

Remember when everyone was shocked Manuel was drafted that high? Well done Buffalo, once again.

seriously? falling down to your knees is a 15 yard penalty?

The instant I look up to watch a snippet of football, Brady throws a pick six.

I got it wrong, so very, very wrong. But I don't care, I hate the Patriots, so I won either way by picking them this week. If this is the year their wheels finally fall off, I'm content to crack a cold one and watch New England burn to the ground in the process.

New England's collapse has saved me from going 1-4 this week.

I'm pretty sure it saved me from 0-5.

I just heard Tom Brady pouting on the sidelines compared to a little kid reacting to scraping up their knees.

Also, Bill Belichek looks *pissed*

The most absurd part of it is that Orton was signed by the team literally days before the season started.

The Bills have decided that Orton, with zero training camp, and no previous experience with the offensive coordinator, is a better option than EJ Manuel.

Yeah... that's bad.
