<p>Yes!!)

Awesome. M&B continues to be one of my go-to games.

Gotta say the teaser trailer they put out was horrible. I'm not even sure why they bothered if they weren't going to include any shots of the game.

Yeah, not a lot of meat to that trailer. That said, if they continue to be focused on the gameplay itself, instead of having the latest in man-sweat graphical prowess, I don't much mind not seeing what the game looks like. For me, a wishlist would include a multiplayer sandbox mode, possibly like what there was in Saints Row The Third, but I would even more prefer a server/client situation, where multiple players could be in the world at the same time. i would like to see more of the massive on-line battles that we got in Warband, maybe with the ability to customize the castles that are involved in the maps. Mostly, I want more of what Mount & Blade had, with some upgrades to the graphics and sound.

I want to be able to design my own castle and more town/village options.

Did you give War of the Roses a looksee?

I saw it at PAX East, and it looks really hot. I haven't been following it in terms of what the single-player brings to the table, though. Looks like nothing. I love me a good skirmish, but for 30 bucks it better bring it, and bring it big. Having two "free agents" marauding around the land in Mount and Blade is way more interesting to me.

Yeah, it's the mp flushed out. No overland map. I'm fine with that. I don't know how I could handle having two games that are time sinks like M&B proper. I say that, but I play a bazillion time sink games. Life is hard these days.

I'll be in on this. I've sank so many hours in the M&B franchise since version 0.623 of the original.

I've read a few things from people who are in the beta for War of the Roses and they often compare it to mount blade, just not as good. Take it for what it's worth.

Mount and blade is still so awesome for me. I bought the first one real early (beta for 5 bucks). I literally put 40 hours into that game every time it got patched. With that and warband my total time must have been in the hundreds of hours.

I haven't played Warband in nearly a year, but according to Steam I put 568 hours into it. I might have a slight interest in a sequel.

Eeeenteresting!

I've only played Warband, but it was a total time-sink. I could never explain to anyone, including myself, why I liked it so much. I guess it was hard to define because it was all about the 'sense' of the world: immersive, open and seemingly teeming with life.

Played the crap out of the original, but never really got my teeth into Warband for some reason. Must play some more Warband and will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

I have 1002 hours of Warband clocked in

The things I wish will carry over from the many ambitious mods are improved kingdom management, ability to choose troops and more item differentiation.

The things I wish for the core team to build is have it better optimized for large battles, smarter battle AI, more control over kingdom lords, more detailed siege function, better graphics, and improved multiplayer. There were glimpses of something amazing in what I tried of multiplayer. Solid voice chat system, better team objectives, improved siege, you can have yourself a unique and amazing game

Oh god. There go several more years of my life.

Man, I remember when they had Death Knights in the original Beta. I kept trying to recruit one but it would never let me.

Not Bannerlord specific, but figured the folks here would be best to question.
I've recently gotten back into Mount & Blade, I never played Warband, what were the significant changes/improvements? And should I upgrade or sit tight with the original til Bannerlord?

Warband is a bit improved with nicer graphics and multiplayer death match. It n is better then the original but not a must buy. If it's on sale get it though.

I went and looked up to see how the sequel is doing but not too much info.

Very little is known except Taleworlds claims there will be "many exciting and highly requested new features" and that it will include "up-close and personal medieval combat on a huge scale, bigger, bloodier and more intense than ever before". This affirmed that they will implement what the fans want in Mount&Blade II: Bannerlord. Taleworlds are going to be incorporating aspects from mods, such as the Diplomacy mod to enhance gameplay.

Enhanced graphics is an obvious change, but overall game mechanics and style will be more or less the same.

Taleworlds has confirmed that cooperative multiplayer campaigns will be present within the game at launch. It is confirmed that 2-4 players will be able to participate together in a mode similar to the single player of Warband, either as allies or adversaries.

Yeah, not much news, sadly.

As far as Warband the mp is worth checking out (Chivalry is a better mp game ) some mods, but it isn't hugely different from the vanilla game. A more refined version.

I'm curious if they will use the same funding method as they did for the original Mount & Blade (allowing people to pay for the game to play the beta). If so, then they must be quite a while away from a working game.

I doubt they will considering the success of their previous titles along with their partnership with Paradox. Not sure if Paradox is publishing this one though.

So, Paradox and Tale Worlds have parted ways. Not sure what this will mean for M&B2...

Edit: To answer my own question, this is from the Bannerlord Facebook page:

Paradox have just made an announcement about the Mount&Blade franchise. Since some of you might we wondering what this means or why it's happening, we'd like to make a short announcement ourselves.

Simply put, the nature of our partnership with our friends at Paradox has changed slightly so that TaleWorlds Entertainment will have more control over the handling of the Mount&Blade franchise from now on, putting us firmly in the saddle. This is something we think will benefit us and Mount&Blade players.

In reality, we have always been an independent studio and have been managing all the technical aspects and maintenance of our titles. We are now in a position to manage the marketing and distribution side of things too. So we're just becoming a little more independent than before.

Some answers to questions you might have (we'll add things to here if we get a lot of the same question!):

*Q: Do I have to buy the game again?*
A: No of course not! This will not affect your current games or your experience with the games at all.

*Q: How will this affect Bannerlord?*
A: Not at all. Bannerlord has been developed exclusively by Taleworlds right from the start.

*Q: Oh, so everything's good?*
A: Yes! Just keep having fun with our games and stay tuned for news on the new one.

Well considering how great Warband did they will probably just publish it directly through Steam this time.

the detail on that armor is great.

That's a definite visual upgrade, all right. And I like the idea of setting it during the fall of the Calradian Empire.

(Plus, now I'm imagining a Byzantine Empire-equivalent just a little ways off the map during M&B/Warband. And some modder probably got there years ahead of me. :))

So it's kind of a prequel then? I wonder how much of the current factions will be represented.

There'd better be Nords.

I wonder if they will include voice support. I suppose it wouldn't be too much work to set up voice attack or similar.

"Huscarls! Shield Wall!"

Man, my wife would never stop laughing at me.
