Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition - All Consoles - Who's playing

I don't think I've died since I got that awesome sword, and I'm playing what I thought would be the hardest build in the game.

I guess I just suck at games...

The melee wizard is considered by many to be one of the strongest builds in the game I thought. It definately feels that way

Do not overlook frost nova for the wizard. You get it early and it is the easiest CC game changer you have. If you need it because you are surrounded, done. If you want some time at the start of a champion fight to whittle down the minion, done. If you are in an elite pack that is hammering you with multiple arcane enchants, done and done.

And with every class in D3 when leveling to 60, you want the highest damage weapon no matter what type it is AND the highest main stat (int for wizards). There are times where a weapon is 20% less damage but has a few hundred main stat that is far superior to the more damage but 0 main stat weapon. Always comb vendors for gear/weapons with better damage and main stat.

That means that sometimes, and quite often for a witch doctor, the best weapon for a wizard is a 2 handed sword or axe. (up until level 60)

Oh and trust me, a wizard looks absolutely bad ass running around with a 2 handed sword samurai style. Oh how I wish they'd implement weapon skills so that you can focus a build around specific weapons, whether wizard, barbarian, demon hunter or monk. That would be really cool to make a non bow demon hunter or a crossbow monk or barbarian. Ooh and if legendary weapons got additional skills available to them, wow! Oh well, next expansion perhaps.

Thanks for these tips - some of this stuff is not obvious for me as I don't have tons of diablo experience. For example, with my Crusader, I have this ability to hold a two-handed weapon in one hand so I can still hold my shield. This creates a lot of variables and it's not always obvious what the best use of my inventory is - Should I use the higher damage weapon in one hand or both, how much does my shield matter - do I get the same damage if I hold the two handed thing in one hand, why does changing that weapon make my defense change...

I'm sure I'll figure it out in time, but if anyone else has a list of generalized tips on this kind of stuff feel free to share your knowledge with us simpletons!

Use of a 2 handed weapon plus a shield will net you a big damage boost plus the passives and stats of the shield. However, some times you will find a 1 handed weapon, especially if it is a legendary, that will have higher damage than the 2 handed weapons available. So equip the 1 handed weapon in that case. Also, 1 handed weapons like thunderfury are very difficult to give up well past the usefulness of their damage stat because of their unique legendary abilities. Use them with your fastest multi-hit skill (even if you don't like that skill) and often times, thunderfuries last 10+ levels past their prime.

The same goes with 2 handed legendaries. Some times you should give up wielding a 1 or 2 handed flail and shield because that 2 handed legendary axe or sword is just flat out amazing!

edit: I posted my suggestion to battle.net... I am slipping into my flame {ableist slur}ant suit for the next few days. I wonder if it will fit underneath my costume for opening night of my play tonight?

Thanks to Aphesian, I'm finally running a 2H bow. For ~20 levels, no bow has been as good as my constant dual unique crossbow drops. Not only does it have better base damage and stat increases, but it also fires a fireball 40% of the time. My Demon Hunter is like a Sorcerer's Apprentice!

So I was thinking about doing some Hardcore this weekend would anyone be interested in joining me?

You asked for it.

I avenged you!

Fine I don't you people! I'll be hardcore on my own! *Sniff* All alone, just me and that weird dog thing I got for pre ordering.

what's that dog thing?

It's under the same category as the potions in the inventory. It's not a molten corgi sadly, it's some skeleton dog thing.

I've been playing the heck out of this, but I want to enjoy it slowly. So I'm almost done with normal, then I'll move up a level and beat that, move up a level, etc. I'll also beat Adventure mode in each level. By golly, I'm gonna get my $60 out of this!

Cool beans. Added.

Two tips: Remember to turn on Elective Mode, and put your gems and crafting stuff in the stash. Vendors can use them automatically.

Tried playing on Torment 1 this morning, might have spawned a Nemesis or 4. So look out on PS4!

Thanks, enablers. I'm in, too on PS4. Downloading as we speak.

I don't have the time to level multiple characters so I just want to pick one that will be viable for every facet of the game. From what I've read that seems to be either wizard or DH. That right?

I had no idea. That is awesome!

Man you guys are making me want to buy this on PS 4 even though I haven't touched my PC copy in years. Just couch coop seems worth it.

I am running a DH now and I really like it. Good movement, 3 turrets, lots of crowd control, lots of options.

Crusader is very strong (and fun if you want to be Captain America) but you'll see a lot of them, if you're the sort who cares about that.

Finally at the second Act, and I'm really loving my Demon Hunter. He's finally starting to feel strong now that I have a number of spells and runes unlocked. Just this morning, I picked up a named Legendary that's very fast.

I am about halfway through act V bumped up to torment 1 with no issues. Running a weird blades build, I have magic weapon as my main attack with the extended reach and damage. I use energy armor with bonus crit, magic weapon with the shield rune, and a fire familiar with plus damage. My only active skills besides blades are diamond armor that explodes for when it gets hairy (or a bit extra dps) and black hole which I fire off consistently on cool down. My passives are the glass cannon, the 15% less damage taken, and the stackable shield when I kill things. When I hit 70% I will add the + 15% damage to close mobs.

Currently 65 and I am chewing through act V torment like butter. I am even tempted to bump to T2. Bosses take awhile but the only threat is Waller/jailer combos. Normal mobs burn in seconds.

I can't believe you guys made it to max level so fast.

I added my info to the spreadsheet. I am playing a Crusader that's in the low 30s right now. I usually play for a bit late at night.

Only have PSN friend playing Diablo and had 2 gifts drop for him today.

I noticed the clever word play. I think the phrase "cool beans" should be mandatory by law. At least 4 uses per day. Capital offense otherwise.

But that's me. It's how I roll.

Hit level 70, got a Ring of Royal Grandeur.

Finally on to the new content with my Crusader. I pretty much smoked everything, especially after I found a mid-40s Darklight weapon (giving me a 50% chance to cast a Fist of Heavens at my location when I cast it on a mob). With the Fissure rune activated, this whole thing has been a nonstop lightning-fest.

Looking forward to the new challenge.
