Wildstar: Catch All

This update seems huge.

I usually solo my MMOs. Not that I'm trying to be antisocial, but as a dad, husband, and overworked money-earner who is determined to go to the gym or dojo after work, I can't commit to a schedule to play with pals.

So how is Wildstar as a single-player MMO experience?

I am enjoying it so far. It's got a good sense of humor and you can solo nearly all the essential content. Group content seems to be elite enemies and a handful of extra challenges.

And outside of instances, thanks to shared credit, it is pretty easy to get those done too.

Hit 50 tonight. Did some dailies, used my Tier 6 festival kit so now I have a stage (woohoo!), and then got really overwhelmed and decided to log for the night. I guess it's going to be dailies until I get 150 elder gems (I'm at 38 right now I think). Next will be to get the key for attunement, then figure out what to do from there.

Since seeing Guardians of the Galaxy I'm suddenly excited about the idea of playing a double-pistol spellslinger. How hard are they for someone with decent but not great twitch skills? I've heard they are one of the hardest classes to play but am willing to give them a try to embrace my inner Starlord.

It's not a matter of twitch, but a matter of awareness.

How does one get an invite to the guild? I sent a message to the guild leader a week or so ago and haven't received anything. I'm just a filthy casual (level 20) but am enjoying the game so far.

I'm only popping on occasionally and doing some pvp rounds and leveling an alt then logging off. I'm in a couple other alpha/betas and my times been spent elsewhere. Bean hasn't been on in awhile now, but anyone in the guild can invite. To be honest I only see 2 or 3 folks being truly active and my game times haven't lined up with them. I don't even have my latest alt in the guild because I've not seen anyone on while i'm on.

I really wish they had a LFR system like WoW because obviously we're not going to have 40 people at 50 to be able to.

Sorry to jump in asking for stuff, but does anybody have a trial key I can buy or trade for? I have Paypal and a Steam account.

I know this isn't normally the kind of thing you ask in a first post and I have no reputation here. I have been chatting in #gwj on IRC for the last couple years. When I asked in there about trial keys they suggested I try the forums.

I had wondered why your presence on the forums was lacking. Turns out you didn't even have an account!

I'll vouch for F16.

Sending a key to Flight. Enjoy the game!

Went to unsub last night but couldn't log into my account on the website- it kept asking me to verify my IP, but wouldn't send me the verification emails. I decided to see if I could still log in to the client and suddenly five hours had passed and I'm hooked again. Then, after several more hours playing tonight, I suddenly receive all the verification emails at once.

Well played, Wildstar. Well played.

I gotta remember to log in and unsub. I dunno, the end-game just isn't grabbing me. Raid attunement is a nightmare of buggy adventures and just bleh.

I've purchased 2 CREDDs with in-game currency so am good until October 2nd. Not sure if I'll keep playing after that as once I got to 50 I slowed down a bit. Regardless, still enjoying the game, I just don't know if it's enough to actually sub.

Basically where I am, a bunch of rep grinds, weird dungeon gear, crafting requires ridiculous mats (basically a cred or two for power cores) to make an item useful, and instances where to get "gold" you're relying as much on luck as knowledge/skill (War of the Wilds and their damn optionals varying in number which are the most important part to Gold). Just kind of over it. Enjoyed it for what it was... healing was a lot of fun, as was tanking, but I just don't have the interest to log in anymore.

Well; I officially quit the game. I reached a platforming quest that I needed to complete to move the story forward. I have attempted it for more than an hour and could not complete it due to bugs and horrible system lag. I enjoyed the game but I'm simply done with playing in this MMO that feels so empty. A WoW clone it is but a WoW killer it is not.

Yeah, I am out too. I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. Too much end game grind, so little forward progress thanks to instances that required RNG luck on runs and the skill of other players in 5 mans to be above par to excellent. I suspect that they will change the requirements down the line and add more to do solo/for small groups at 50, otherwise they are going to have a pretty large exodus of casuals at max level.

Just downloading the game for the first time now. Anyone got any advice on:
- What class is in highest demand for support roles?
- Which server/guild should I am at to play with other Goodjers (given that I'll be pretty far behind on the power curve)

Thanks,
N

I believe Goodjers are on Avatus.

Dominion players are on Avatus, Exiles are on Stormtalon.

I can't speak for the goodjers on Stormtalon, but our guild on Avatus has been fairly dead for the last month. I still play occasionally, but not regularly.

This is what I get for not reading the forums BEFORE buying. A week or two ago the buzz seemed all happy...

Don't let it discourage you, it's a good game and there are plenty of other people playing, but for whatever reason goodjer MMO guilds tend to run out of steam quickly.

Ya almost never have enough to do end game content so it can be frustrating.

Which is the case for many small friends and family type guilds. Blizz's approach to flex mode raiding (soon to be called normal) is genius. I can assemble a team of between 10 - 30 people, on the fly, which dynamically scales.

But isn't a big part of Carbine's ethos is Wildstar is a hardcore game without those carebear features like flex raiding? I think Wildstar Radio recently talked about whether it makes business sense to cater to the super hardcore.

Flex raiding isn't a carebear feature. It's a community feature. I don't even see Wildstar as remotely hardcore. It just has a massive body requirement for it's end game.

When I hear someone say carebear the rest of thier point turns into the schoolteacher from Charlie Brown. That term is so loaded with "my way to play is better than yours" ugh

And wildstar isn't even remotely hardcore. I don't see then spending the time on the flex raiding stuff though because a very small percentage of folks raid in the first place.

Not entirely true, and there's even more that would if it didn't require finding 40 people.

Disagree, though I won't go back and forth about it.
