Eh, some times. I feel like mechs can see over 1 level of terrain blocker but not more. Looking up and down when you are at different levels but without any piece of terrain necessarily blocking your view is a little weird. Sometimes it looks like you are quite literally shooting through the ground. I think the hardest part is that there is so much clutter on the maps that it can be hard to draw a straight line to other mechs and know exactly which tiles will be intersected.

Also, if you didn't know, you can have your mechs torso twist. In the shooting phase if you click on the turn left/right arrows, the mech will twist its torso. This allows you to shoot at units further to your sides. However, if you are targeting multiple mechs then you will be restricting your viewing angle at mechs on the opposite side.

With regards to you lance you just used, I felt like you need to get in close with my mechs. Three of mine were setup as long range with only one setup for close range. All of yours were pretty much short range beasts. By not closing in, you were forcing yourself to take a drastically increased aiming penalty compared to mine.

Edit: And definitely send me a new invite once you have a new lance put together.

Those cicadas are fragile... I really enjoy their speed though.

Yup great game, was not expecting those PPCs. The fight might have been different in a more open battlefield.

So far the best info on the torso twist is if you look at the weapon it will be marked something like "mech facing wrong way" instead of the "terrain" or "ranged" based messages. If its marked like that and not like behind your ass then that is a good time to check out the twist options for sure.

Really the LOS, was more like hexes appearing to be about the same level and distance from a hex. Some you could target in others you couldn't. And.. Yeah I am very attentive to the fact on some hexes due to terrain clipping you can not see the lil targeting highlight deal thingy. So I click any mech im interested in painting mostly ignoring the lil targeting thingy.

Going to make something different now.. less you want to try something silly like full teams of Awesomes, curious if that's full of tree chopping like goodness or not XD.

I just played an all cicada match vs Brizahd.. that was an interesting match of dancing chickens. They move so far you could be really surprised where they would end up each turn. One Jenner short of an all Jenner lance.. but I do have enough Commandos to do a Going Commando match.

side note: the Clint so should have been able to mount an AC20.. so when you used it you can talk in a raspy voice about. "The most powerful mech gun in the world". XD

I would be interested in a game. I don't really have any lances setup per say but could probably build one at just about any CV.

You got 2 Commandos and 2 Spiders for like 100pts under my 4 commando team! XD. Makes me feel kinda like I missed out on some sale heh.

hey Tkyl, I was wondering if you were super busyish or had some issues connecting to the game. I log and check every few hours but over the last like close to 48ish I can only assume you haven't taken a turn? Juust was curious.

Also curious if you can see if those flamers are adding heat. I am trying to watch for it as I reeeally wanted to know if that was in play at all. So far not sure at all its happening.. its like 1 heat per flamer hit? I can park one mech to be a flame tester if we want! 8D.

I've just been super busy the last day or two. Had several things that have kept me busy.

I'm not sure if the flamer is adding heat. It doesn't help that I didn't realize that I really shouldn't have taken close quarters weapons when playing against a full light mech lance. I can never get close enough to hit.

I've stopped playing for now, as I wait for them to put in more of the features and balances. That said, every patch they put out has me more and more excited with the direction the game is taking. That said, I wouldn't qualify the game as in Beta right now (even though that is how they market it.) It it is more like a pre-Alpha build. So, take that into consideration before you decide to spend money on it right now or not.

I forgot to update my account there for the email that was in, way early, then I changed my ISP. It kills me to think there might be a beta key sitting there, that I can't get anymore.

Are beta keys PMd to the account, or just the email. That would be the only chance I'd have of recoving it, if it were there. I'm deluded that it is there.

I'm guessing they still haven't changed the tiny screen yet, right?

They had just put in the red overlay during attack, when I was there last.

So got my closed beta invite email a couple days ago. Is this game worth diving in to at the moment? Some of the hub-bub is that it'd be better to wait until it's a bit more polished and full-featured.

I was always annoyed that in (I believe) every Battletech related cutscene, the pilots didn't wear neurohelmets.

FINISH HIM! Haha, the intros from the other Mechwarrior games are pretty good too.

There is some argument as to what neurohelmets look like. It's not clear whether it's as simple as a headband or some gigantic Galactus helmet with hundreds of wires poking out in all directions. It also varies a lot as to where the pilot is from as pretty much everyone in the battletech universe has been repeatedly blasted back to the stone age.

MW3 and Pirate Mood were my intro to MW. I liked them a lot. That and MWcommander.

Hmm. I don't remember if I put money into this. Given that it flopped I probably did. I'll do myself a favor and just leave that question unanswered. I can pretend I didn't lose a cent.

I shouldn't be as hopeful as I am about this stuff, but I look at ebay and see people willing to spend $25-$35 for four plastic figures worth about 12C in manufacturing cost, and I can't believe that someone hasn't value the license at worth buying or reviving. RE heroscape, because the engine would have been perfect for that.

MWT was fun. I liked the Beta. Thankfully I didn't spend.
