Donation Drive '07 - Multiple Choice Is Just More Fun

Section:

Every year we come to you for two weeks asking for your contributions in helping us continue operating Gamerswithjobs.com, and we hope that the service, content and community we provide throughout the year justifies the request. We take great efforts to make GWJ an uncommon home, even a safe haven, on the internet where we can talk without suffering the usual antics that become so tedious elsewhere. We provide you with articles by talented writers, discover and cultivate new talent and bring you the quality of written word that is sought by the most respected publications in the industry. We bring you a weekly podcast with increasing quality of on-site reports from places like Gencon and Comicon as well as interviews and special guests discussing the finer points of the gaming industry. We run game servers, organize community events, strictly moderate our forums and make constant and consistent effort to create an adult environment for adult gamers. So, we come along once a year, for two weeks, and ask for whatever contribution you think Gamerswithjobs.com is worth. Oh, and we give away prizes too.

So, enough of why you should support GWJ, and on to what you will get by supporting GWJ. We have quite a bit to giveaway this year, but our Grand Prize is up to you. This year, you pick your grandprize from the following choice:

Grand Prize: An Xbox 360 - OR - A Playstation 3 - OR - A Nintendo Wii - OR - A GeForce 8800 GTS

Golden Dancing Kitty Kat!

Oh yes, cause what we really want to do is immortalize that.

Sent. Now where's my juice box?

Come with Golden Oogaba or don't come at all!

I will be keeping track of the donor list here. This is the place to check to make sure we have your donation & that we know which forum account to tie that donation to.

We should have the new icons rolling out tomorrow.

Live drawings had maybe 30 or 40 people show up and only a couple usually got their name picked. It always felt a little anti-climactic to me. The podcast does a few thousand, which feels a little more exciting even though it won't be "live" this time. Then again, who knows what we may pull out of our hat this year. :ninja:

A live podcast?

Money sent.

This is till the only site I've ever felt driven to donate money to.

I definitely will be donating

Done.

Absolutely to whine and all, but could next year have some miniprize for us non-Americanos? Not an Xbox780 or DSWowisthisthinglite or anything, but something risk free (mail wise) like a game or I dunno. You know, like not for the prize itself but more to get that anxious giddy feeling whenever the draw is erm... drawing near?

Not that a lack of prizemajiggies will stop me from donating, though. Bring on the wiener bomb next year! After that, no more monies from me

Sent, yo!

Sent. For the record, this is the first time I've ever donated money to a free site. Just goes to show how much I respect you guys and how happy I am to call this place my only home on the internets.

On the Care Bear check contest, you guys drew Grumpy Bear. Congratulations, and expect him in the mail in a few days!

Done/sent!

And thank you guys for the greatest gaming online community ever!

Hrm... what's the conversion rate on my funny coloured money up here in Canada?

Nearly 1:1 right now.

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but, as a resident bean counter, I must point out a discrepency:

Every donation of $10 or more to the drive is an entry into the giveaway
As always we offer multiple entries for those of you who donate a little more.

The math just don't work. So, which is the correct breakdown?

I don't really understand what you mean. $10 to $24 is one entry. $24 to $49 gets you two entries into the magic hat of drawing. etc. It's not one entry per $10, if that's what you mean.

More syntactically correct might be: every person who contributes $10 or more will be included in the prize drawing.

Website redesign, which is ongoing.

I'd be happy with that search function that was promised during last year's drive!

Aye. Done and done.

Sent. Always glad to help out my peeps.

He who asks, does!

It will be fun to see how long the list is this year, the site seems to have added quite a few members this year.

What are we up to these days, if I may query our evil overlords?

This is the only site that pry's cash out of my tight grip.

You guys should go NPR style and just have this post automatically after every forum posting.

Gotta wait for payday.

Seconded.

On another, happier note, now that they blocked my access from work I feel truly part of the club.

Kudos gents and I look forward to drinking you all under the miniatures table at next years GenCon.

Just sent my nice chunk of change to you fine folks. Happy I could contribute to such an excellent site. Keep up the good work. Seriously.

Awesomeness abound. Very cool. Donation sent. I'm happy to support such a great community.
Keep up the good work guys!

Sent, keep up the good work.

Done.

Add one more to to the non-US choir looking for some love.
