Donation Drive '07 - Multiple Choice Is Just More Fun

Section:

Every year we come to you for two weeks asking for your contributions in helping us continue operating Gamerswithjobs.com, and we hope that the service, content and community we provide throughout the year justifies the request. We take great efforts to make GWJ an uncommon home, even a safe haven, on the internet where we can talk without suffering the usual antics that become so tedious elsewhere. We provide you with articles by talented writers, discover and cultivate new talent and bring you the quality of written word that is sought by the most respected publications in the industry. We bring you a weekly podcast with increasing quality of on-site reports from places like Gencon and Comicon as well as interviews and special guests discussing the finer points of the gaming industry. We run game servers, organize community events, strictly moderate our forums and make constant and consistent effort to create an adult environment for adult gamers. So, we come along once a year, for two weeks, and ask for whatever contribution you think Gamerswithjobs.com is worth. Oh, and we give away prizes too.

So, enough of why you should support GWJ, and on to what you will get by supporting GWJ. We have quite a bit to giveaway this year, but our Grand Prize is up to you. This year, you pick your grandprize from the following choice:

Grand Prize: An Xbox 360 - OR - A Playstation 3 - OR - A Nintendo Wii - OR - A GeForce 8800 GTS

Well it's not literally, but it will be! GWJ is my home on the tubes and I can't thank you guys enough for keeping things sane around here.

Is this void where prohibited?

Sept 14th , check...
Anyone else note tht this is a mere week and a half before Halo 3 launches? how much you want to bet that comes the 26th both Certis and Elysium will have shiny new copies of said game? ()

Donation forthcoming.

Sent. I await many more years of fingerbutt and homo-erotic banter.

Two questions about the 360:
1) Core, Premium, or Elite?
2) What's the console's manufacturing date?

Also, sent.

Er, please don't void there, it makes things smell for the rest of us.

Wow, I've been an official member here for just over a year now. Ca-razy.

Man, that must be expensive! How much do you pay your writers?

Also, sent.

Done. I'd only been around a few weeks at this time last year so didn't know you guys from some two-bit hucksters.

Now I know you're at least a couple of three-bit hucksters, but I've gotten all comfy here...

Thanks!

What are the plans for this year?

Excellent question. Still a little up in the air, as far as cons go, but here's the current rundown.

1) One main game convention for coverage.
2) Website hosting for the year. We expect to have to move to a dedicated box soon, which will probably nearly double our current monthly fee.
3) Website redesign, which is ongoing.
4) Pay our contributers a little something something.
5) Maybe some sort of official PAX Slap & Tickle fund.
6) Juice Boxes

Other things always seem to come up, but that's the rough idea so far.

So if you're announcing winners on the podcast, I guess the live drawing thing is out the window, along with my brainchild of having a prize where you must be listening in order to win? Alas...

On the upside, bring on my Golden Weinerbomb!!!

R.I.P. live drawings. One of the best traditions we had around here.

Ooh.

But who's going to donate to replace their golden weiner bomb with something lesser?

I missed last year's drive. Golden Watch for me.

I never made it to the live drawings. Usually because of school or work.

Actually, we felt like there wasn't a ton of enthusiasm about live drawings, because we often had winners who weren't on. If you'd like us to bring it back next year, let us know. We're really not trying to piss you off.

Bring it back this year!

Live drawings had maybe 30 or 40 people show up and only a couple usually got their name picked. It always felt a little anti-climactic to me. The podcast does a few thousand, which feels a little more exciting even though it won't be "live" this time. Then again, who knows what we may pull out of our hat this year.
