WoW 5.0 - Mists of Pandaria

That was enough for me... until I got into a few norms and now I have a bit of heroic gear. It's not just the raiding, it's the raiding gear being OP for world PVP... I play on PVP servers, and being able to quickly and efficiently gank gnomes makes me a happy troll.

As a Gnome who levelled 1-60 in vanilla WoW on Ner'Zhul (PVP), I just want to say... f*ck trolls.

I apologize profusely for any inconvenience my murderous rampage may cause or have caused.

Well... mostly apologize.

Sorta.

Maybe.

... what's the recipe for gnome fritters again?

Anyone on Area52 horde?

I run with a small guild of old friends, and our tendency is to raid 2x a week when we're active. Most of us were former hardcore folks that eventually had kids and all that..

We had a couple of critical people fall away at an inopportune time and get satisfied with Diablo. Looking for some potential raiding and/or challenge modes.

ilvl is 564ish

If you need Valor Points, Blizzard is doubling the rate of VP acquisition. 100 percent buff was supposed to start at 9 a.m. today and will run through June 10.

MMO commenters, meanwhile, hate it. People are weird.

In related news, never read comments.

I'm definitely going to be hitting that up - I have a lot of gear that I want to get to 4/4

Anyone want to get a late-night weekend activity going? It was fun to get the gang together and steamroll some old content and I'd like to do more stuff. I'm thinking some midnight EST action if anyone is available tonight or tomorrow. Options are Challenge Mode dungeons, Flex, or Mount Achivements like Icecrown Citadel.

I'm game.

Can I get an invite to the GWJ guild please? Netchan (alliance, blackhand)

Anyone have a scroll of resurrection? Looking to get back in the game.

Sure, PM me your email address and I'll hook you up.

Well, shows how much I know. Apparently this program was retired. Bummer.

Not sure what's going on, but they seem to have gotten a little triggerhappy with the banhammer lately.

I have three accounts - my main account, my banking account, and a dormant account left over from an RAF spree. I do not bot, sell gold, use addons that are not TOS compliant, or keyboard macros beyond single key repeaters.

Last week, my banking account was permbanned for "exploitation of the economy", specifically selling or buying gold, or aiding in such. I appealed, expecting that it was just one of their occasional "net spread wide" banwaves, and was turned down. Twice, though I had not done anything to violate TOS, and was able to give them the IP addresses and physical locations from which I had logged in. Goodbye to 130K gold and all my crafted and xmog items, stock of ore and gems.... ouch.

I reactivated the dormant account, and set about rebuilding my banking system, and as soon as I had that all set up, I received an apology mail from Blizz saying my original banking account had been wrongfully actioned, and had been restored with 10 days of game credit.

Great! My stuff's all back, so I transfer the small amount of stuff I had put together back to the main account, and carry on as usual... to receive another permban on the formerly dormant account, which had listed 20 items on AH and had a max of 1500G on it. This ban was rescinded immediately on appeal - especially since my appeal pointed out that the other wrongful ban.

All I can think of is that the fact that I log in routinely from two locations (home and office - I have one of those jobs that's cool with a bit of gaming now and again when things are slow) is getting me flagged.

I've restructured all my stuff into a personal guild across three accounts now (will return one to dormancy) so that I won't lose access to things if it happens again, but man, what a complete pain in the neck. WoD better be worth it...

130k gold? And you were surprised that you were banned?

How much gold is enough?

130K is loose change in my Blackhand-A couch!

I was an AH fiend for years and got burned out on it this expansion.

Enough gold means you can spend 400K on a large rooster mount and not look back in regret.

Pretty much.

Some of those not-so-rare mounts (like the JC and engineering ones) aren't exactly cheap.

Congrats on the chicken!

Like I said, got an apology and 10 days game credit after the fact. I wasn't doing anything wrong. In this expansion, that 130K is chicken feed - in Slacker's case literally.

Congrats on the bird!

Anyway, to answer the question about how much is enough, I'm trying to squirrel away half a mil or so for the start of WoD so that I can gear up quick and start hitting the challenging content from a few perspectives. I'll be trying to rapidly gear one each of my melee, tank, ranged and healer toons.

As far as amounts.... crafted armor pieces on my server run about 10K each, royal satchels about 3K a pop, crafted weapons about 15K for the 502s. To outfit a fresh 90 for MoP, assuming you're trying to get them raiding ASAP with a full complement of bags, you're looking at 40K for armor, 36K for bags, and 15K for a weapon - call it 90K even, and then figure you're looking at around 1500G every time you get a new batch of gear as well, with reforging/regemming/rechanting if you're trying to stay optimal. I don't think budgeting 125K each for 4 primary toons in a new expansion is excessive at all.

125K per toon seems like a lot there, TH.

Aren't you crafting anything yourself? Or if you're dropping a ton of gold up front, are you making it some of it up on the back end via crafting? Four mains means a max of eight different professions covered. That's almost enough to be self-sufficient.

And what are your big AH sellers these days? The whole AH seems to have deflated in a way it hasn't previously.

Actually 4 mains and 3 minors, plus a couple more being leveled I do plenty of crafting, which is where the gold comes from, but when the Xpac hits, I want to spend my time leveling and raiding, not farming mats and selling stuff.

People are still leveling and gearing alts, especially since there's going to be some massive class changes with WoD and they aren't sure what class/race they'll want to play come final patch.

Enchants are still profitable. 553 legs/belts, 522 boots/helms and 502 weps still fetch good coin as well. Bags are another big seller, and glyphs are a constant as well, , and pets and transmog gear are always a seller, along with mounts.

Gems are a lost cause on my server, we have one guy with a huge bankroll who decided he was going to ruin the gem market and keep it depressed to spite another gemseller who was undercutting him... most cuts sell for under 30G apiece these days.

And I wouldn't worry much about the bans. It also happened to me at the start of Pandaria, probably because one month I was logging in from Europe and next month from the US. If it happens again and you don't feel like waiting for them to figure out the mistake on their own, just send a message to their support and they should resolve it in a day or so.

It's funny watching the price of high-end enchanting mats slowly go down, but that's just normal. I've started to unload the mats I currently have banked so that I don't have a bunch of useless mats when the expansion hits.

As for cash - I've accumulated a lot, but spent just as much. Who has time to save money when there are rare formulas, patterns, and mounts to buy!
I'm missing only 4 Enchants to have the complete set, but those Outland world drop formulas are really hard to find these days. 32K on the AH just for a completionist piece...ouch.

With that sort of OCD, you should sell glyphs!

The start of the expansion is the best time to make a buck. Your impatience is gold in my pocket.

As for right now, it seems that ore and gems are well into their usual late-expansion depression. That's not a problem on my main server. On my Horde server, I've got only one toon, and my plan to get rich through selling ghost iron ore didn't quite work out. Oh well.

P.S. You sell glyphs? My condolences!

Hahaha the glyphs aren't a big deal, I figure I have a scribe, might as well mill and sell. Just keep a bank alt stocked on all the varieties I feel like keeping stocked, and replenish what's been sold once a week. A few mindless clicks while I watch Invader Zim with the kid .

I'll make my money on the first patch to the expansion... and with the fishing pools in the new garrisons, I'll be able to set my 8 year old fishing without worrying about him getting consta-ganked.

I just got the last missing enchant for my main last month - surprisingly it was one of the Uld drops. I won't be trying to go full completion on most other profs though... especially LW.

If you want insanity, try getting all the jewelcrafting recipes. I'm so, so glad that profession is getting decimated in Warlords.

that 130K is chicken feed

Wow, I remember when 50 gold seemed somewhat large.

Yeah, that was probably around the time when I had to run on foot around Desolace and angrily quit the game. Then they announced Wrath and I had to see that storyline to the end.
So here I am now. Talking to pandas and selling goblin Iron Man suits.

Yea, it's been several expansions since then. 130k is a respectable amount these days; there's a multiperson mount you can pick up now that runs north of 100k, and a couple others that run near that in materials to craft. I've also seen stuff on the black market auction house sell for gold cap, which is just shy of a million gold.

I know one guy on my server who has 8 toons goldcapped... mostly gem market manipulation.

So I've started a new toon on another server and am flat broke. Nevertheless I want to try out inscription since it looks like a fun trade skill. Any suggestions on making money or at least not losing money as I level?

Do you have any money on your other toons? My method of transferring money has been to buy one of the well-selling battle pets with a rich character and then sell them with a poor character. Otherwise, try to pair it with herbalism so you can at least somewhat supply your inscription. Bear in mind that inscription is due for a major overhaul with 6.0 when a lot of the glyphs are going to be learned automatically as you level.
