Donation Drive Begins Next Week

Section:

If you would like to support GWJ by donating a prize for our yearly donation drive giveaway, this post is for you.

Every year we make great efforts to create a home for readers, visitors and community members that is constantly engaging, well-managed and intelligent. Most of the time we do this with no strings attached, but for two weeks every year we offer the community a chance to assist us financially in continuing the process. During those two weeks, we also try to find a way to give back to our readers as we ask them to support us. We're in the process of lining up our list of prizes for the donation drive which will launch next monday, but we know that many of you like to offer prizes to be given away, and this is how you can help.

If you have a prize you would like to be featured in our yearly donation drive giveaway, please send an email to [email protected] with information on the item you'd like to contribute. We do ask that any contributions be new items in their original packaging, and that you will be able to submit the item for us to giveaway by September 15, 2007. Any forum members who submit a prize for the giveaway will be eligible and submitted for the grand prize giveaway, and receive recognition as a donor to the site. Any company which submits a prize for our giveaway will be recognized on the front page for their donation as well as on the September 19th edition of our podcast where winners will be announced. If you intend to donate a game for the giveaway, please contact us before September 3rd, the date on which the prizes will be announced, and thank you for your continued support!

I love how your avatar completely displays that.

You forgot Gold Weiner Bomb in there.

The fact that I'll always be one donation prize behind, no matter what makes me a sad panda.

Ok. I'm over it.

I nominate golden oogaba for the new donation status symbol.

Also, I'm willing to contribute to the giveaway. I've got my PAX 3-day pass and one ice cream sandwich -- slightly used.

Hmmm. I won a prize last year, so I guess I should donate again.

How do donations and prizes sit with non-US residents? Is it some sort of PayPal business, or are we hand delivering the cold hard American bills in leather envelopes lovingly hand-crafted by children in your strange and otherworldly 'Summer Camps'?

Last year, I was able to donate with PayPal.

What's the plan with this year's cash? I know you guys wanted to hire someone to handle the coding of the site but now that we have a volunteer I'm curious to the plans for the site.

I want golden oogaba for the new icon.

We'll talk more about the plans and such when the drive launches next week. We need to evaluate all the conventions and see where we stand for next year, among others things.

I am 100% in favor of child labor as a general rule. We'll be taking Paypal and checks at the very least. Especially Strawberry Shortcake checks.

Hey, here's an idea:

One time offer: $250 donation gets you caught up (grin).

I have a napkin that I drew a football play on. It's a really good play. It should be a top prize.

I'll donate a copy of Metroid Prime 3 if you retcon GotW.

I look forward to giving you some more of my monies.

Also, I will remind you now (but not for the last time) that this year you are going to give away a prize which you must be present (virtually) during the prize drawings to win.

Why do you always have to schedule this when I am broke?

I'm looking at my credit card, and it is cowering in the corner, sobbing from the hard use it has gotten lately. Hey, $60 games don't buy themselves.

And my checking account is over in the corner, consoling my credit card, saying "I won't let that bad man hurt you again!"

I'm sure I can cajole one of the two to somehow shake their money maker for a few sheckles to toss your way, but I wish I had more warning so I could, like, budget a big donation.

Is that Mike Bullard?

It's Rob Cordry.

Yes. Just carrying over a little of the good-natured ribbing from the GenCon thread.

LOL, yeah... i was thinking it was about time for this to happen... and i've just loaned a friend £700... coulda spent that money on GWJ!

I could donate Cadbury's chocolates (brand new of course). We get cool ones that i don't think are seen abroad like: Dairy milk with various additives inside: "(currently discontinued) whisper", "caramel", crunchy buiscuit and ....well you may as well just look for yourselves.

I thought it was Rabbit?!

I am sans cool PC hardware as everything is going into my new build. But Paypal contributions I can do. So once a Paypal link shows up magically I will be clicking on it. The least I can do for you guys putting up with my rants is give some support, right?

I've got a sealed "Sega Saturn 3 Games Free" combo, with Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, and Daytona if there's a any interest in semi-retro games.. even has a coupon for "Up to $15 Off Any Sega Saturn Game!" (which may be expired) and a never-worn XBox 360 Mountain Dew hat from the Every 10 Minutes contest (for some reason, they sent me 6 of them).

Ohh, I'm going to look so good with that gold watch.

Hey Duoae ol' buddy! Care to send some of that phat caysh my way?

I guess I need to upgrade my old watch.

Would if i could mate, but i can't. After i've sent that her way i still won't have completely wiped her problem out.... and i'll be low on the cash front too. I've been a scummy student for a long time now so i won't miss being relatively "flush" with cash....

Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. With our split move we're paying rent on two houses (and all accompanying bills) and I'm about to plunk down for my Uhaul and trailer along with what normally would two years worth of gas for me.

I guess I'll rob the next homeless guy that approaches me so I can finally get a new gold status icon.

I heard that! Besides, I believe last year was Care Bears. Strawberry Shortcake was two years ago. Get with the times, man.

I have an unopened, boxed copy of Daikatana. Is there a last place prize?

*keeps fingers crossed for non-US prize*
