Any chance we can have the ability to embed Vimeo videos in the forums as opposed to linking to vimeo.com?

It's being worked on. By me. Intermittently.

YES TO THIS!

Twitch stream/archive embeddings would be cool, too.

Would it be possible to filter forums and/or topics from the Recent Posts page? I prefer using Recent Posts for general browsing of the forums, but I'd also like to pretend that P&C doesn't exist, and forget that I ever posted on any P&C threads. As it is, I am constantly reminded of both.

Are you talking about the tracking page for your own account?

I'm guessing he means this page.

This was already on my to-do list for whenever I get around to doing more GWJ scripting.

That one too, but I was mainly thinking of http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/tracker/[userid].

Cheers, Cathadan!

Ok, new userscript for ignoring threads is done. It is designed to allow you to ignore individual threads rather than entire forums because I am an optimist that would like to believe there is some non-zero chance that a thread in P&C has value.

When you are on either the tracker page, or a thread listing for an individual forum there will be an extra link under your username in the top left to show the controls to ignore and unignore threads in the current view.

While I was at it, I upgraded the user ignore script with the same type of magic. After upgrading to the new version, posts will have an extra link next to "set as last read" to ignore or unignore the poster. You'll be starting with an empty ignore list again, so rebuilding it will require you to seek out posts by those users to put them on your list again.

Enjoy!

ETA: Anodyne made a userscript a long time that just hides P&C entirely. Here's an updated version of it that will work on the tracker pages.

edit: Well, I've tried both now, and they're working very nicely. The interface for thread ignoring is really quite elegant.... not there until you explicitly ask for it, and then very easy to use when you do.

That's some darn fine scripting, sir.

Is there a way for someone to use that who looks at that and just sees a bunch of nonsense and no idea how to do anything with it? Or is this something that if I don't even know how to begin to use it, I should leave it alone?

Consummate professional Cathadan strikes again! (Sexy username change big man. ^^ )

It's not difficult at all to use. I'll put together a quick guide and post a link here when I'm done.

Edit:

THESE SCRIPTS ARE AWESOME AND I LOVE YOU

Quick note: the PnC Ignore script doesn't seem to load automatically on the tracker pages... when I visit a page the first time, I can still see P&C threads, but if I manually load and execute the script, it works.

EDIT: I use Firefox, I should've mentioned that already, duh

Did I mention how much I love you? THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

Good catch. I didn't test that one well. Fixed! (Remove from greasemonkey and reinstall)

My 'favourite topics' function seems broken and has been for months. I think I added too many threads in there and now I can neither remove any topics or add any topics.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance?

Hey troubleshot, can you tell me more about the problem? I see favorites for you, and I am able to browse them from my end. Are you not seeing anything at /favorites? Or, is it some other issue?

Sure Doogie,

In my favourites list (which I'm hoping to reduce) when in click on the remove from favourites link on the first page of a thread it just takes me to a 'page not found' page and looking at my favourites the thread I'd tried to remove is still there.

It seems now that I CAN add new threads to my favourites and then remove them, atleast it worked with the thread on Transistor. This wasn't working a while ago, I assumed it was because I had too many favourites.

If it helps, I'm happy to have all my favourites cleared and start from scratch if that's a thing that can be done.

I took a look, and it doesn't look like you have too many favorites added, so don't do anything drastic with them yet! Can you post back a link to a particular thread that fails to get removed from your favorites? That'll help me debug a bit.

This is the page not found I end up at after hitting 'remove from favourites' in the Dark Souls 2 thread:
http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/favori...

And this is the link to the original thread:
http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/1...

Is that what you want?

I have been asked to log in 3 times after 15-30 minutes of surfing the site.

I'm on my mobile. I do switch from wifi to 3G on it for different access. Could the connection got something to do with it?

What browser? I was using Chrome for iOS and had similar trouble. Reinstalling the app fixed it.

FWIW, I seem to be having the same problem removing a thread from my favorites as troubleshot. Tried it in both Chrome and Firefox.

A way to embed Vimeo videos would be nice, for those things that aren't on YouTube.

Still working on it and Hulu and general HTML 5 video. Life got in the way.

I should maybe read the rest of the same page I posted on.

Removing a thread from my favorites worked for me today. Did it from a different computer, so maybe that has something to do with it, although I'd tried it from different machines before. Regardless, problem solved! Hooray!
