The draft is over. The picks are in. The undrafted free agents are signed.

Now, our suffering begins again, as we wait through the last big empty spot in the league calendar.

QFT.

In related news, I hear the Jags' UFAs include Walter Johnson and Nap Lajoie.

Very pleased with the Bucs draft; #2 WR, a TE who both blocks and catches, two versatile linemen with promise, a ridiculously fast slot WR. Only perplexing one is the pass-catching WR in the third round (Charles Sims from WVU); I figured maybe he'd be a slot guy, but then they drafted a slot guy. If Beaker Glennon comes through on his promise, it's going to be a really good offense.

Gene Smith used to say he wanted to draft "base hits" rather than go for "home runs". A .384 hitter like Nap Lajoie should produce plenty of base hits!

Michael Sam: "Based on last year alone, I should have gone in the first three rounds".

Whoa. Slow your roll there, Mike. I'm cheering for you, but the fact is that you're small for a 4-3 DE, ran slowly, you were awful at the Senior Bowl as a 3-4 OLB (removing you from the board entirely of every 3-4 team), and your showing at the Combine was terrible. Small and slow doesn't go in the first 3 rounds.

Don't go McCarron on us.

Drafting a punter in the 3rd is presumably trying to bunt in the bottom of the 9th with a full count, bases loaded, down 3, the infield playing in, and the batter having recently had his legs torn off.

Its ok if that Punter (or your way overreached first rounder DL in 2012) goes to the greatest public university in the world.

GO BEARS!

Excuse me sir, but of all the draft picks the Jaguars made in that draft, the one you're making fun of is the one and only one who will still be starting for the team in 2014!

Anger was the best pick the Jags made that draft!

On a team of groundouts, Anger is the sacrifice fly that actually brought a runner in.

This honestly may be the saddest conversation in Jaguars history.

Bill Barnwell had an interesting tidbit about the Jags:

But the Least Logical Trade of the 2014 Draft Belongs To …

… Jacksonville! The Jaguars traded up twice this weekend, first sending the 150th pick to the 49ers for the privilege of moving up from 70 to 61, where they drafted wideout Allen Robinson. ... The 49ers, meanwhile, used the pick on center Marcus Martin, who would have filled a much more pressing need for Jacksonville. The Jaguars later sent the 105th and 179th picks to the Patriots for the 93rd pick, where they drafted a much-needed lineman in Brandon Linder.

This seems like small beer — they filled a need and gave up only a pick to do it — but it’s just not logical for a team to give up any picks when it has so many holes up and down the roster. There’s a reason Ted Thompson traded down over and over again when he rebuilt the Green Bay roster. ... In fact, this is the same sort of mistake Gene Smith repeatedly made during his time as Jaguars general manager, when he traded up over and over again while trading down just once in four seasons.

You can’t fall in love with your board and trade up because you’ve got a second-round grade on a guy who’s available in the third round, especially at the beginning of a rebuild. Randomness and variance swamp knowledge and scouting before a player gets to the NFL. If the Jaguars continue to build otherwise, they’ll continue to field a roster with too many holes filled by replacement-level talent, even if Bortles does develop.

I didn't realize the Jags had traded up so much. That's just silly because you want to draft more players when no one wants come to your team during FA.

Really Dan? There's a ton of pressure to change the Redskins name, and THIS is what you're worrying about?

To be fair, even giving up picks in trades, the Jaguars still selected 9 players. They acquired extra picks in trading Mike Thomas and Eugene Monroe, and they already have an extra pick next year too for trading Blaine Gabbert.

Yes, because trading Eugene Monroe makes sense.

Well don't get me started on that one. That's a hissy fit I've already thrown too many times.

Well excuuuse us, not everyone can draft Mark Barron, Doug Martin, and Lavonte David all at once.

We deserve nice things after the 80s/early 90s. Stuck for another decade and then we'll talk.

Michael Sam Rams Jerseys Are Already For Sale And The Demand Is Reportedly 'Ridiculous'

After waiting through almost the entire 2014 NFL draft to hear Michael Sam's name called, #SamFans -- and Rams fans -- didn't waste time in showing their support. There was reportedly an "avalanche" of orders for Sam's St. Louis Rams jersey after he became the first openly gay player ever selected in the NFL draft.

As noted by Darren Rovell of ESPN, it took less than three hours from the Rams selecting Sam with the 249th pick in the seventh round of the 2014 draft for his jersey to be on sale. With his jersey number yet to be determined, the blue sample jersey viewable at NFLShop.com initially had No. 10 on the front and back as Sam was the Rams' tenth selection in the 2014 NFL draft.

Citing an unnamed source, Dan Bernstein of CBSChicago.com reported on Saturday evening that the jersey was immediately a popular item.

Colvin was this draft. We're talking about the disastrous 2012 Jaguar draft.

This draft will ultimately be judged on Bortles, but the Jaguars had a very productive rounds 2-5.

Funny that both of my teams grabbed "redshirt" players. The 49ers do it because they have a deep roster and stashing a talented guy that won't gobble up a roster spot helps them keep building into the future. And the Jaguars did it because there's no expectation of winning in 2014, and they need talent for their new full-on rebuild.

Jaguars drafts...jaguars drafts never change.

Michael Sam jerseys No.2 selling among all NFL rookies

Compounding that is the fact that Sam's jerseys were not available for sale until Saturday evening when he was picked. The jerseys of the other players on the top-five list have been available since Thursday, allowing for 48 hours more of sales.

I'm assuming he meant that, since most WRs are pass catchers.

I'm hoping the pass-catching RB the Chiefs drafted, De’Anthony Thomas will end up playing a lot. I hated to see Dexter McCluster go, but he never really delivered on the promise, although he was starting to develop into a pretty great return man.

The Bucs said they drafted Sims because he was the best pass-catching RB in the draft per their scouting. I figured he'd be a Sproles/McCluster sort of guy, but that Robert Herron kid from Wyoming is a pure slot guy. Stupidly fast, shifty, hopefully won't die the first time a MLB lights him up.

The team's already got three good RBs, a fourth seems more than excessive.

If you're going to compete in the NFC South, you're going to need more than four RBs.

Enix, that's cute; you actually think Carolina's going to compete in the NFC South this year.
