The Wolf Among Us Catch-All - All episodes released!

Thanks for the feedback, gang!! Think I'll dive into the comics, and see what happens. I'm not too, too obsessive when it comes to spoilers (I did listen to the Brothers spoiler section of the GWJCC before playing it, after all), but I guess I still want to avoid most major stuff. Since I've played all the way until the end of episode two, I guess now is as good a time as any!

Just wrapped up episode 2. I'm still enjoying it tremendously, but this was too short. Not even taking into account the delay in the release, i think it took me about an hour to beat it (definitely less than 1 hour 30 minutes) and that's too quick for an episode. I'm looking forward to what happens next, but I hope it's a bit meatier in terms of content.

Agreed, it felt a bit shorter than the first one (although it took me two hours to finish through the first episode and perhaps 90 minutes for the second).
I started another playthrough last night, hoping to unlock all Books of Fables and try a different approach.

Steam says I spent 1.8 hours on episode 1, then 1.6 hours on episode 2. So, that's 12 minutes shorter- no biggie. The bigger problem for me was that, one fight aside, there seemed to be far less interactivity in episode 2. That kills these games for me, hoping for more in the next episode.

PS- the game was gifted to me, which is why I'm playing through a game with mechanics that don't normally suit me. I was pleasantly surprised by episode 1.

I've been pondering and about the the last couple of minutes in the second episode. Spoilers for the end of episode two and whodunnit musings.

Spoiler:

I think Crane is a sicko and a pervert. But a killer? I'm not so sure of it. It would make for a very short series. But then why smash the mirror? Was that the result of a fit of rage?
I don't think the Woodsman is the killer either, particularly now that I've done by "bad cop" playthrough. He's a jerk and a sad excuse for a human being, but not a killer.
Georgie is also one of the worst kinds of lowlifes, but for some reason, I'm not feeling it.
I liked Pyxstyx's theory on the ginger in episode 1, couldn't help spotting him in my second playthrough after I read all the spoilers in the thread. No trace of him in episode 2 though.

Still leaves me struggling with the "why?" but... I think it says something that I'm still trying to take apart this days after I finished it. Hope the wait until episode 3 won't be too long!

You so funny!!

Spoiler:

No trace of him in episode 2 though.

I kinda wonder if Telltale didn't see those guesses, and decided to rewrite the villain. It fit so perfectly that it kinda HAS to be the answer, but maybe they felt it was too obvious, since people picked it up right away, and decided to do something else, instead.

Of course, they might have just blown it. I didn't feel like Ep2 was under tight control. It really, really felt like something they shoved out the door because people were angry, not because it was actually done. It lacks the deft touch and attention to nuance that's their usual style. For instance, many lines of dialog were used even when they didn't quite make sense given your choices, which is not normal for them. It feels quite sloppy, and I hope they get it together for Ep3.

Spoiler:

My fiancee's had the same reaction - Crane, twisted as he may be, isn't the killer. Her first impulse was that decapitation was Bluebeard's game...

After episode 2 I'm convinced that the key is

Spoiler:

The phrase "my lips are sealed". The mirror says that whenever you ask about either of the dead women (yet was able to show you the dead king), and the mermaid (Nissa?) uses the exact same wording when you interrogate her. Despite the main link for the three women being pudding and pie, I can't square the circle that would make Georgie the big bad. There's got to be some magic contract or something bigger going on beyond the strip club.

Question, which in includes a spoiler for Episode 1:

Spoiler:

At the end of Episode 1, you can either grab the woodsman or Tweedle(dee? dum?). I grabbed the Woodsman ind interrogated him. If you grab the other guy, doesn't he get interrogated? What do we learn from him?

Spoiler:

Yeah, I imagine they are different scenes. I haven't seen the Woodsman one :). If memory serves, you learn the Tweedles are working for someone, and you get a few hints about the fact that they are shaking down Beauty for a loan she took out. I missed part of this segment (I was riding shotgun, not helming the controls) so there is probably a bit more too it.

Random speculation...

Spoiler:

I had originally assumed that someone (probably Ginger, once he was pointed out) was trying to get at Bigby by forcing him to the "dark side" in an attempt to turn the other Fables against him.

But what if they are trying to frame Crane? They somehow knew about his fetish and are trying to use it to make him a suspect.

Would cutting off heads be the Headless Horseman's MO?

There is no word on episode 3 release yet right? I played both episodes back to back and was blown away what an amazing story and universe.

I immediately downloaded the vertigo app and started reading the comics on my phone, if you enjoyed the game Id say its a pretty safe bet you will love the comics. It took a little while to grow on me but around the animal farm series it really got good.

Episode 3: 'A Crooked Mile' arrives next week!
So I was on my computer, minding my own business, and I notice is Steam is downloading stuff, updates. And there's a 956 mb update for Wolf Among Us. Nervously, I check the news and woohoo, release is scheduled for today! How did anyone not notice this before?!?! So excited to play this!

Edit: the game is also 40% off on Steam for Midweek Madness.

I saw the 9th as the release date for the 360.

I've had an incredibly crappy last couple of days so this is excellent news - downloadin' now.

What a great episode. Loving this series.

You're not wrong, that was pretty darned good.

Spoiler:

Although I feel really guilty for accidentally interrupting Snow's Eulogy! Woops!

Also....remind me to never say Bloody Mary five times in a mirror...just in case.

That was much better than Episode 2.

Though nothing has hit the high that was Ep 1 so that might bite them in the butt.

Wow, that ending was something.

Spoiler:

Didn't interrupt the funeral.
Tried to break the news to Snow gently.
Went to the Trip Trap then the Tweedle's office.
Didn't burn the tree down.
Didnt kill Tweedle.

That was pretty good, far better than the phoned-in Ep 2.

I did exactly what Eleima did.

Ooh, and how cool was it that in the Trip Trap, you get the following message:

Spoiler:

Grenn won't remember that.

Huh!?

Wrong Gren.

Spoiler:

It's at the end of the conversation with Grendel when he's a bit high from the medication Dr. Swineheart gave him.

I seemed to go against the grain with most folks. My choices:

Spoiler:

1. Interrupted the funeral
2. Went to Tweedles office first, then to Holly's
3. Offered Flycatcher a job
4. Burned the tree (but felt bad about it after reading in the Fables book about how pretty harmless she is)
5. Killed Tweedle. I mean, he only tried to kill m,e about 40 times!

Second playthrough:

Spoiler:

Interrupted the funeral
Went to Crane's then the Tweedle's but got automatically shuffled off to the Trip Trap.
Offered Flycatcher a job (even though this was my "bad guy" playthrough, I felt sorry for the boy.
Burned the tree.
Killed Tweedle.

Had a thought about the tree:

Spoiler:

It's from the old world. Seems like a crime to burn it down, no matter what Aunty Greenleaf has done.

And to address what Coolbeans mentions specifically regarding the tree:

Spoiler:

Going by the game (I've only read a couple of the comics so far), Aunty Greenleaf isn't harmless. Sure, she's not the one doing that weird stuff with the glamours, but she can't not know what's being done with the glamours she supplies, particularly to Crane. And that's some pretty messed up stuff.

Who the hell are the heartless 2% who didn't

Spoiler:

offer Flycatcher a job? I mean seriously?!? Are 2% of this game's audience sociopaths? How can you not love that guy?

Yup. His storyline in Fables is fantastic.

(Yeah, Ep.3 was great!)

Oh yeah, and...

Spoiler:

Ginger shows up again in the taxicab at one point (when visiting Aunty Greenleaf I think).
