We had one here, too. It was vivid enough it looked like you could walk up it to Asgard. I wish my camera could do it justice.

Yeah, the lighting is/was so weird right now in the PNW. Super strange.

Not sure what you're seeing, but I've found that rainbow-conditions often coincide with another rare phenomenon: the sky is darker than the ground. Usually, since most light during the day comes from the sky, the sky will always be significantly brighter than the ground. However, after a storm you can sometimes get a very dark sky in one half and a very bright sun and sky in the other half, basically acting like a gigantic spotlight and illuminating everything on the ground. Throw in a hazy atmosphere and you have prime conditions for both rainbows and some very pretty photos.

I was noticing the same thing about 45 minutes ago. I don't even know how to describe it. It was dumping rain, but everything was lit up with a weird sort of beige-y gold sunset. I'm about 750 km north of you.

Pretty much. This is a pretty common thing in the Pacific Northwest, especially in the spring. Simultaneously we had a soaking rain and a low-angle sun peeking through the clouds. Et voila!

My father in law actually moved here for that light - he was a painter. It only happens for about a month or so, but when it does it's magical.

Happens out in West Texas too, when a storm sweeps across the very flat wide-open countryside. Less mist, though, so fewer rainbows along the way.

I ate some frozen store-bought taquitos, then got an automated call from the grocery store a few days later that they'd been recalled for "health safety reasons" and should be promptly returned for a full refund. They were delicious, and no adverse effects so far!

Also, I have a third date tomorrow night with the librarian that I mentioned previously. Muppets Movie Time Wheeee! Let's hope the taquitos don't decide to enacted some delayed revenge during the Featured Performance. (Didn't theater movies use to say something like "And now, your featured performance" after the previews?)

I suspect that's a holdover from the days when they played a short, a newsreel, a serial, and other entertainment first...

I believe it went:

And now, your Feature Presentation!

I only know about it because they would put it on VHS movies, right after the endless previews.

Since I got laid off on Thursday, I've been hammering out quotes to all my freelance clients for some outstanding stuff I'd talked to them about and also because almost everyone's waited until the last minute to deal with XP going end of life. I have enough quotes out in the wild that they stand to bring in about $3,500 if they're all accepted, enough to allow me to survive at least another two full months, not including Employment Insurance benefits. Just got an e-mail from the client who had the biggest quote by far, one that stands to make me about 40% of the $3,500. 100% approved, including all the optional add-ons I offered! And because I'm unemployed, I don't have to do the job in the evening or on the weekend. Also, I called the hospital I recently interviewed with about that job which could 100% reverse the fortunes of the last week. The guy is swamped because it's fiscal year end and couldn't talk but said "I absolutely want to talk to you on Monday." Not a yes, most certainly not a no. f*ckin' A!

I wasn't quite sure who to quote, but I think herpes wins...

It was for some kind of line of skin care products. The deal is, they're using an extract from these special grapes grown in the volcanic soil of Santorini, so the director I worked for had gone out to Santorini to film already. The company liked all the nature shots, did not like all the "300 year tradition of growing these cool grapes" shots...

Though I've been performing (singing, plus some musicals with dancing, etc.) for 30+ years, this was my first time in a sound studio. It was cool.

So the place where we recorded is interested in me as well, as they do a lot of commercials. Seems there are only something like 3 voice over/voice actors who are British, 2 who are American, and 1 who is Australian, in all of Greece. And I was told, "And they're all much older than you." So they asked for my name and number after hearing me record for 45 minutes. Very cool.

So...not that I want this as a career, but if they'd like to pay me a few hundred euros for recording voice overs for an hour...that would be cool a few times a month.

I asked what was the chance my friends who see this commercial, and was told, "Well, if they watch the telemarketing channel..."
And somehow, if that's where it's going, I'm cool with it. It's not like a telemarketing channel is evil...right? I mean if you choose to watch it...

p.s. I found out that the people who wanted me instead of the original voice actor, is the cooperating ad agency in the U.S.. So the people who pick voice actors preferred me. Yeh freaking team.

Google's silly technology.
I know, this stuff is now considered the norm but it still tickles me that we are now in an age where I can take a pictue with my watch, it automatically transfers to my phone and then to the clouds where an unknown magical entity does this to it.

Nice! I had my own tech business a couple of decades ago. There's a degree of flexibility and nimbleness that a one-man show has which really tends to open doors. The work was mainly writing custom software and setting up LANs for businesses in the area, which then turned into businesses in the state, which then turned into businesses in 4 states. Zero advertising. All word of mouth. Eventually it ended up not being so fun (presenting and selling while contracting out the work). However, those early days of doing good work for people and being well compensated based on a conversation, a handshake, and a promise? Those were the best.

McChuck. For telling me to man up and ask for the girl's number.

I could watch that instant karma Florida truck driver video all day.

Grats!

That first time you actively elicit a smile from your baby (as opposed to the ones that come from the satisfaction of a baby-fart)

My little girl was born today.

Congrats! Hope all is healthy. Name?

It's not a competition, you two.

(Congrats, to both of you. )

Batman. Congrats, Clock and family!

Hooray for babies!!! Congrats Clocky and yay Jonman!!!

Mine is still at "satisfaction of baby fart" stage. Well, number two, that is. Number one is at the "satisfaction of peeing on the deck and not in the potty" stage. *sigh* I love my boys.

Born on the 31st of March? You'd have to call her April... It would be the Clocky thing to do

Spoiler:

Seriously, no pressure on the name.

CONGRATS!
