Star Wars Clone Wars TV Series Catch All

I know we already had the movie thread, but since this is an ongoing series I figured I'd kick off a different topic.

So, I actually thought they were going to reshow the movie on TV but I guess they figured out that might tick off some people or I was just misinformed.

The kids enjoyed the two back-to-back episodes tonight. I am struggling with the idea that Lucas seems to think casting off his old fans is fine (As if they aren't still watching clutching their toy lightsabers with white-knuckle grips of nerd rage all the while planning on when they're going to make another action figure run) as he desperately tries to snag a new generation of consumers.

EDIT -

All that said, I like having something I can watch with my boys, so I personally have no issue.

I'll check them out and see. The small 2 minutes section I found on Youtube wasn't all that bad really. Aimed at kids certainly but not bad.

Edit add: Ok so now after watching the full episode 1, I actually thought it was pretty good. The Droids were the worst part about the episode. Their ridiculous conversations with each other and apparently and complete lack of common sense or a hive mind bothered me in the movies and now bothers me in a cartoon. So as for a kid aspect the battle droids are the main source. Everything else seemed to be geared towards the early to mid teens range. So about ages 10 through 15 would be my guess.

So in short I liked it. I will watch the next episode without issue.

I enjoyed the movie so I'm sure I'll enjoy this as well

Meh, it's all right. Too many lame attempts at humor through the battle droids and sometimes it feels like they're stretching to fill a half hour. They should have stuck with the fifteen minute format from the last series. The main characters (except Anakin and his new kid sister) and the clones were actually interesting.

I liked it well enough. Like Botswana, I enjoyed being able to watch it with one of my boys (the other was away). It is definitely aimed at kids, but it's still Star Wars. It does a good enough job of bridging the generational gap so that I can enjoy it with my kids. Yeah, the droids are ridiculous, but they're good for a laugh from the kids, so I can get past it. I liked getting to see more of Yoda being a badass.

I hadn't even thought of that. Honest!

I watched the first two and it'll be staying on my list of series that the DVR grabs. I enjoyed it enough. I think it will need a few story arcs that span more than one episode, though. Not sure if that's being planned or if it's going to be all individual episodes.

As a series I wouldn't mind seeing some story arcs that focused on the Clones. They don't have to do all Jedi all the time.

In retrospect, I'm starting to think the 2nd episode was kinda boring. I think it was supposed to be suspenseful, but it really wasn't. The 1st episode was kind of cool though.

Watched it tonight, thought it was interesting. I'll agree with the previous sentiment about the droids. Lame humour and reactions with them, although I understand I'm probably not the target audience for those interactions.

I also liked the badass Yoda, except I also thought they overdid it. I felt that how they portrayed Yoda in Episode II was great; He was a master swordsman and master of the force, but as soon as the duel was over, he appeared frail again. The only ones who ever saw him bounce around were Dooku and the emperor.

The way they showed the clone troopers was good, too. In large platoons they were very generic, but when they got broken down into small partial squads, you could see that they each had unique personalities.

Overall, made me interested enough to possibly watch more, and also the movie after it comes out on dvd.

From what I read at the Wookiepedia, the second episode is the first of a three parter involving the Separatist ion cannon ship.

The battle droids seemed to have filled the role that Jar Jar was created for: unfunny clown. At least they don't seem to be based on a racial stereotype this time.

I haven't seen the animated film, so they might have answered this in it: If the story takes place between episodes 2 and 3, why does Anakin have a padawan?

Retcon?

Ok, uh, it's a cynical attempt to appeal to younger viewers by giving them a character closer to the target demographic of the show?

Lucas read it in a fanfic story and liked it?

All smartass comments aside, I do think it's a little "off" to introduce a character that Anakin will one day be responsible for the brutal murder of.

Alright, so far I've seen episodes 1 to 4 and I have to say: this series is pretty darn good. The third and fourth episodes were especially well done, and injected some fun back into the whole Star Wars universe that, to my opinion, just wasn't there with the prequels. Some of the humor is actually pretty good too, and even though the droids got a bit on my nerves initially, I found that they're being used well in the last few episodes. Honestly, I think the series so far is great fun, and would definitely recommend anyone who has an interest in it at least check out episodes three and four.

I didn't know you could kill people and say "Hell" on Cartoon Network shows. Note that I'm excluding [adult swim].

Arise, thread! Shamble forth into the daylight!

Anyone else watch this? I just finished the first season and am starting on the second, and this is quality Star Wars. As of now, this is replacing the vague memories I have of "prequels" (is that what they called them, I don't really remember...I think it was just a bad nightmare I had over a decade ago). The story telling is quite good and the characters are awesome.

While watching, though, I wondered what age children this was targeted for. There's a huge body count. Sure they're clones, but when one of the many story points (and probably my favorite...just watched the episode where they discover the deserter clone with his family) is humanizing the clones, it's hard to see each clone death as just some faceless nothing.

I believe I've watched the 1st 3 sesies then I started missing out. Love the art and the story. Definitely adult friendly as you'll see int he future it can get quite dark!

Just added some of this to my collection - like I said I love the art styel!

Very cool. The clones, Rex and Cody, are probably my favorite characters so far in the series. Hope we get some more stories with them. And the bounty hunters, Cad Bane and Aurra Sing...awesome.

One thing that is pretty amazing too, given my utter contempt of the prequels, is how much I kinda like Anakin. If it keeps going as is, his downfall will be tragic (whereas with the movies, I couldn't have cared less what happened to the guy).

I kinda wish these guys would do a two season run that would be the stories leading up to the first season (Qui-gon discovering Anakin, Anakin growing up into a teen/padawan, etc.) then a two season series finishing with Anakin becoming Vader. Just ditch the movies all together.

I watched all the series, and the last episodes really kicked me in the gut, but I won't elaborate it's worth seeing for yourself. In all I really enjoyed the series despite all the hate it received. I say ignore what all the other people say and just experience it for yourself.

I am eager to see the upcoming Star Wars Rebels, also a CGI animated series, but it is set between Episode III and IV. It being featured on Disney channel makes me a bit afraid that it will turn out to be a teenager coreographed dancing musical. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wa...

I'd watch the Tron:Uprising series on Netflix. it was also shown on Disney (horrible time slot so it got cancelled early) but the art was awesome and it was adult friendly.

I just saw the last episode of Season 5 and I absolutely loved this whole series. I'm kind of shocked it received any hate, especially compared to the prequels. BTW, the Season 6 lost mission episodes are on Netflix now. Has anyone had a chance to see them yet?

Season 6 was pretty good. The only misstep was the banking parts but at least they didn't do entire episodes on banking. The high part was the Yoda episodes and the ship Yoda was flying.

Spoiler:

Mini Tie Fighter

Seen a couple episodes from Season 6 so far. Meh. Being a prequel you knew nothing was going to come of it. Then I read the previews for the rest of the season and I don't know if I'm going to be happy. Putting this in spoilers in case anyone doesn't want to read about the previews:

Spoiler:

It looks like they're wasting an arc on fricking Jar Jar, ugh. Why would they do that when they know people hate him? Do the kids even like him that much? Also, it looks like there's going to be no resolution to Ahsoka at all. That's weird. The Yoda arc looks like it will be the best of the bunch and I'm going to have to force myself not to skip a bunch of episodes before then.

Yeah, I heard about all of those spoilers. Shame about the lack of closure for some of that, and who knows what lore the Disney folks are going to keep, if any?

I'm a bit cautious on whether or not I should watch Season 6, since Season 5's ending seemed so perfect in a way.

Just started Season 2 and I really like the way that the Jedi are being portrayed as somewhat incompetent during Cad Bane's infiltration.

Well, when you think about it pretty much everyone except for Palpatine is almost entirely incompetent. Every victory over the Separatists increases his popularity and influence. Every loss gives him an excuse to enact even more extreme measures. It's one of the more interesting aspects of the series in my opinion: an entire show about a bunch of heroes working for a villain without realizing it.

The Landing at Point Rain was one of the most intense battles I have ever seen. I like how this episode was a war movie and then the episode with the hive queen was horror.

Just watched The Lawless. Wow.

In the midst of season 4 now and General Krell is pissing my off.

Give him a few episodes. He gets his.
