Trailer Catch All

The bubbles clip was Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla.

Godzilla geeks are a special kind of geek...but apparently a common kind.

Yes, but I linked Son of Godzilla because it was the movie he was introduced in.

And I respect that. So I posted a video from that movie as well.

If there is a sequel to this one, they had better have him fight someone.

I'm pretty sure he fights other monsters in this movie. You can see bits of them in some of the trailers, and there were a lot of rumours coming out of Comic-Con about some sort of bug monsters called MUTOs.

When I was in elementary and middle school I figured I'd be a cartoonist when I grew up. In high school that shifted to a desire to make video games, but I still worked on webcomics then, and throughout various points in College. Even now I wish I had more time so I could work on an idea, or ideas, for comics.

So this documentary certainly captures my interest, from wanting to go from one format of comic strip making to another. However, it does sort of irk me that some of the younger online comic artist quotes had a bit of a conceited tone to them, which is especially easy when you happen to have made it big enough to make a living off of it. I'd like to see people that are producing excellent work, yet still have a day job, and to hear their struggles in the competitive market.

Jupiter Ascending.

The Wachowski's always seem to be able to get money

Was that

Having the most financially successful R-rated movie of all time will do that for you.

At the same time, Jupiter Ascending does not look particularly interesting.

could've sworn we had a thread just for this one.

Transformers: Blowing stuff up.

Like so many sequels this summer it leaves me cold. It looks to have more explosions, more autobots, more slow mo, more people hiding around things while things explode around them, etc. Just like Spiderman 2 it is just more as if that makes everything great.

I don't see a lot of heart to the story but is sure does blow stuff up.

Well, duh. It's a Michael Bay movie.

Mark Wahlberg being the protagonist actually has me intrigued, though that's also part of the problem. I'm also guessing that's their version of Unicron.

Gonna be honest, it has me curious, and that has me feeling horrible.

Oh man, the Team America stuff was hilariously bad. Gratuitous American flag. Don't mess with Texas joke. Holy cow.

This gallery of 10 things we learned from the Transformers trailer has some good laughs.

Mark Wahlberg plays the role of "Cade Yeager," a man with a bullsh*t movie name who lives in one of those houses that only exists in military-recruitment ads.
In Michael Bay movies, there are two types of women: women who are super-hot and women who are literally invisible, because they aren't actually on screen. This trailer has only the former type, in addition to an old Chinese lady cowering in the back of a restaurant. I'm pretty sure she's just an extra, though.
Because he's just a simple down-home country type of fella and doesn't know much about science or technology or other such matters, Cade Yeager (cough) uses a dusty pair of old jumper cables from his garage to reanimate Optimus Prime. Which also happens to be a metaphor for the supremacy of old-fashioned values, or something.

Grimlock?

Grimrock?

I tallied around 6 American flags in shots before they even said Transformer.

I hate having to defend a not-great movie, but Shia LaBeef's mother played prominently in the first 3 films. Also, Frances McDormand had a decent-sized role in the last one. One might ask how prominent those roles could be if I can't even remember their names? to which I would answer that I don't remember Shia LaBoof's name in the movies either.

Feel free to inform the gallery's creator.

I won't defend it. I won't see it in the theater. I will see it on Bluray because: 'Splosions, pew-pew, and Marky Mark trying to get into a fist fight with a robot.

Sin City 2 - Sinnier....A Dame to Kill for

Wasn't Mickey Rourke's character killed at the end of Sin City 1?

The stories in the first Sin City weren't in chronological order, so I'd guess that the Marv scenes in this film are from some time prior to his death.

Bruce Willis' character snuck onto the farm and Frodo was there reading the bible. Chronologically, I believe Marv dies last.

So does "Screenplay by Frank Miller" mean they just let him write it, or does it mean Rodriguez standing over his shoulder through the whole process saying "No, no, Frank, stop it, you can't keep trying to shoehorn in 9/11"?

The first one was very faithful to the comics. So unlikely.

I'm more concerned at the "Directed By". He directed The Spirit, which was entertaining enough when I first saw it, and then...not so much on a second viewing.

Hopefully this has several guest directors like the first Sin City film.
