Quoting for awesomeness since it was at the end of the previous page. I'm really loving the marketing approach for this movie and am already sold on it.

I assume he gets kidnapped.

Yeah, I'm so sold on Guardians of the Galaxy that I ordered the 2 book collections of the new version up on Amazon. Can't wait!

Which ones are the new ones? Other than an at most passing familiarity with what it is, the movie will likely be my first experience with any of these characters. I looked it up on Amazon and have no idea which "volume" is what.

Well, I guess there was a series back in the 60s/70s. They did a reboot type thing from what I can tell in 2008 according to Wikipedia. So, I ordered the first 2 volumes of that. The first volume is sold out, so even though I've already received the 2nd, I'm gonna have to wait a week or two for the first to show up.

Edit: Somehow bungled that Wikipedia link. Not sure what the issue was, so I just removed the link.

You should consider getting the Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest collections too. The GotG series grew out of those two events.

Nah, got downgraded to the TV show like Coulson did. "Welcome to level 8" and what have you.

Awesome! I'll keep that in mind if I enjoy the ones I bought.

I assume he's the one in the hospital, probably in a coma or something.

That said, would it matter THAT much if they killed him off? He created the Avengers, they are working as a team now, and could probably integrate new people (Ant-man, Doctor Strange later, maybe the Guardians if they swing by Earth for the third movie) on their own with Cap in charge.

Don't get me wrong, I'd miss SamJ, but I could see that being a good way to up the stakes finally. I won't miss him more than I missed Wash.

If anyone has seen the South Park episode where Cartman freezes himself so that he doesn't have the long 3 week wait for the Wii to launch ... that's how I'm feeling about Guardians of the Galaxy right now.

Sacrament and Green Inferno - VERY EXCITED !

Full Godzilla trailer. I have to say that I am not sure how this is much different than Cloverfield. Perhaps it is because I didn't watch the movies as a kid but nothing about this makes me excited.

If the trailer is any indication, it seems Bryan Cranston will carry the entire movie.
I'm ok with that.

I thought of Cloverfield once I saw the torn up Statue of Liberty as well, but man, I'm so totally stoked.

One of the big differences is simply going to be the difference in perspective. You aren't tied to random civilians this time around, but characters at the center of it all. I like the notion that the nuclear testings were actually a cover up for trying to destroy a monster, hinting at a new kind of origin for the beast. Granted, I cannot quiet the voice in my head about butchering what the original movie was about, but it seems like they're finding inspiration in some of the natural disasters and other such things the world has been facing lately rather than from the desolate wasteland that became Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I am excite.

It probably speaks volumes to my nerditry, but the coolest part of the trailer for me was the Ligeti atonal business from 2001, which did make my skin crawl and get me genuinely excited.

I can see that. It still feels very similar since Cloverfield had characters right in the center of the city, they were just powerless rather than military/science types.

As I said I didn't watch the originals as a kid so maybe I just don't get why this is more exciting.

Sweet, new Gina Carano. I can deal with more of that.

Well, I still managed to enjoy Cloverfield as Giant Monsters Wrecking sh*t has been permanently embedded into the pleasure neurons of my brain or whatnot. I think what makes Godzilla so exciting is, while last year we got the fun blockbuster Pacific Rim film, this one is actually approaching the subject matter with a serious and straight face, and it looks like they're doing it well.

It's a disaster movie, but it doesn't have the same trappings that you might find in a Roland Emmerich film. And the disaster is a giant friggin' monster.

It's also nice to just see Godzilla in big budget form without being a total joke.

If there is a sequel to this one, they had better have him fight someone.

And if there is even a hint of baby Godzillas, I'm out.

The f***?

Have you never seen Son of Godzilla?

No and I think I'll keep it that way. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen the original. I may have to fix that.

This is what you're missing.

Ok, that full Godzilla trailer continues my impression from the previous one, which is simply put:

BAD. ASS.

Cannot wait. Pacific Rim last year for the pure fun of it, Godzilla this year for a serious and well-built monster flick. I'm a happy pirate kitty.

Omg omg omg squeeee!

Actually the clip with the bubbles wasn't Son of Godzilla. It was one of the 90's flicks that sort of acted as a retcon, wiping every Godzilla movie between the original and Godzilla 1985 off the map. A much less stupid looking baby Godzilla that:

Spoiler:

became the new Godzilla after the original had a meltdown in Godzilla vs. Destroyah.

Yes, Godzilla developed continuity in the 90's.

...and now I want to watch Godzilla vs. Destroyah again, despite how awful it technically was.
