Happy Hump Day Survey!

The Bicycle Thief!

If only they had made a good movie version of Les Miserables, that would be my pick because of the story. The Bicycle Thief is kind of similar in many ways, though.

I need to take back my answers.

I forgot about...

The movie snob in me wants to say "The Killing" one of Kubrick's first movies. It is a darn good movie too.

But in reality we all know that it is Star Wars, it is about stealing the plans for the Death Star...

I am honestly surprised no one's agreed with me about Rififi.

Admittedly, the one person I expected to chime in went with The Bicycle Thief, which I haven't seen. Seems I need to rectify that.

Hudson Hawk! I mean, it even says it on the box: Greatest cat burglar in the world stealing the greatest prize of all time. And the multiple scenes where he and Danny Aiello are singing Swinging on a Star? Cinema legend.

Entrapment was also great!

I can't believe I forgot The Big Lebowski!! They stole his rug...it really tied the room together

Well, the carpet-pissers were not the issue, man.

Oh that's right, they stole his Creedence tapes, too.

Well ... part of it was.

That's literally all I remember from Entrapment.

Entrapment is when the girl is 14.

My answers:

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (cartoon)

Dog Day Afternoon

Entrapment?

Entrapment!

Thaaaaats......funnier than it should be.

I definitely laughed.

It's just straight up powerful and heartbreaking. It's in the same league as Grave of the Fireflies although it doesn't quite reach or surpass that level. You definitely need to have something happy queued up after that to attempt to restore your faith in humanity.

Big Lebowski was a good call. I should have thought of that one. I'll still stick with Bicycle Thief, though.

Forgot about this one.

The French classic Rififi

While not on the same level as some other answers, I think Die Hard fits into this category.

Aliens

Truth. Also, The Ladykillers.

I thought about The Ladykillers. It's such a fun movie! Alec Guinness is crazy good in it.

The 2005 remake is pretty good, too. Tom Hanks is goofy as sh*t in it.

I agree!

Happy Hump Day!

If you could spend 1 year living in a fictional world (film, tv, game, book), where would you go?

Can I bring things back? I'm not even asking for a robot or a spaceship (sentient or not) but if I could vacation in Culture territory for a year and get their drug/pain modifications I would be grateful forever!

And alright, you don't have to pull my arm, I'll take a spaceship too.

Pandora's Star.

Psh, that stuff is FOR REALZ. Disco said fictional world.

Honest answer: ...Wow, actually this is going to take some time to think about. Usually I have something easy to toss into the mix.

Yeah, I'll get back to this one later on today.

EDIT: Orrr maybe not. I'd actually go with the Honorverse (David Weber's Honor Harrington series). Always did enjoy that universe.
